***Savvy***
"Thanks for that back there." His voice was low, making me look up as we were putting the cleaning stuff away. He was young, maybe the same age as Hex, but he seemed like a nice kid.
"It's no trouble; she had no right talking like that to anyone."
His head bobbed. "True, but I appreciate you saying what you did and standing up for me; not everyone will do that for a prospect."
"It does not matter to me who or what position the person holds; no one should be talked to like that. What is shocking is the basic manners she lacks. I have no idea what her deal is with me, but she has liked me being here since I came here."
He bit at his lower lip, his eyes looking at anything but me. I turn to face him, I know that look, it's the same one Hex got when he didnt want to tell me what he did cause he knew he was in trouble. Boys are so easy to read.
"Something you want to share?"
"Um, well, I may know why she is being a b***h to ya."
I raised my brows, "Oh, you do?"
Nodding his head, "Yeah, everyone knows this, but it's because of Chaos,"
I frown. "Chaos? What does it have to do with him?"
"Ah, well, she kind of has been after him for two years now, we all see it, and he shoots her down every time, but she hasn't gotten the message. All the club girls know not to go to him; he does not take any of them to bed. I have never seen him with one of them. But for some reason, she has her eyes set on him and has been trying, and now he is guarding you."
Great, more freaking high school drama, why cant woman like her take the hint, if he isn't interested, move on. Good grief.
"Oh wonderful for me." I grit out.
He snorts a laugh, "But I wouldn't worry, she is on her last warning. Prez wont let her stay if she keeps on."
I rub my forehead, "All I want is to work and be left alone. Im not interested in landing a man, have no desire to be in the middle of someone's love triangle, and I definitely don't want anything to do with that crazy ass woman who is four quarters short of a dollar."
Suddenly, he burst out laughing, bending over, placing his hands on his knees as he laughed. I couldnt help but chuckle along. He sobbed up standing up,
"Oh God, that was good, four quarters short, that means she is a whole dollar short?" He starts laughing again.
"You never heard that?"
He shakes his head, "No, but I like it."
Kids nowadays have no clue about smartass comments.
"Alright, come on, I need to check all the empty rooms and makesure they are cleaned in case they are needed."
For the next hour, we moved from room to room, wiping them all down and making sure the sheets were cleaned and the bathroom, if they had one attached, was stocked. He even helped, he said he wasnt about to stand there watching when he could help.
I would catch him slipping Blue more jerky. I didnt say anything, I knew he was trying to win my dog over, and Blue would love him as long as he continued with the treats.
Once we had finished all that I told him I was going to the kitchen to help the ladies cook dinner.
"Ms Savvy, you sure like to stay moving dont ya?"
Nodding my head. "I do, I have never been one for sitting around. I like working and staying busy,"
I wasnt about to tell him it so my brain dont run wild with thoughts and how it keeps the hurt from swolling me whole.
As we walk down the hall, Blue suddenly lets out a low growl, making us halt our steps. I look up to see Finn standing there, he had a white wrap around his forearm. I know he was given a second chance, I wasnt wanting to have him thrown out on his butt, just as long as he left me alone. Finn moves like he is about to walk up to us, reaching my hand to my backside, my finger curling around the handle of my pistol. This time, I will put a hole in him. I will not kill him, but I have had my fill of him now. I slow my breathing, staying calm.
"Now remember, Sav, cant hit anything if your hands are shaking." I can feel his larger ones covering mine as he helps me hold the pistol. "Take a deep breath and hold it, eyes on your target, never let them see what coming, hold that blank face, no emotion."
Stephens voice runs through my head. I feel a ping of sadness fill me, but I push back, shaking the thoughts from my head, keeping my eyes on the man.
Blue lowered, taking a ready position. Jason sees who Blue is looking at and steps forward, moving to block him from my sight. A low scoff comes, but the footsteps and they sound like they are moving away. Leaning around Jason, I saw Finn was no longer there.
Jason moved, and I let go of the handle, stepping up next to him.
"Sorry about that, I didnt know he was back in the clubhouse."
"It's okay, I didnt either. I haven't seen him since the day Blue bit it again." I shrug. I did feel satisfied seeing his arm still wrapped up, guess Blue got him good then. Serves his ass right for being such an asshole.
Jason snorts, "He had it coming. hes a d**k and he shouldn't be allowed to stay. He is a f**k up, he will try and take out anyone if he thinks it will gain him ground here."
Patting his arm, "Come on, no need to worry about him now."
We make our way to the kitchen. I told them I would help out, seeing as they were always cooking so much food, and not one person from out there would come help.
"Ah. Savvy, thank you for helping. Extra hands are always appreciated." Ronnie says as she moves things down the counter, making room for me.
"It's not trouble, I finish my work so quickly, I hate just sitting around."
"Well, we appreciate it. No one else comes in here. not even some of the Ol"Ladies, you think they would see, as we feed their men when they don't cook. I mean, do not get me wrong, some are wonderful and sweet women, but some are rotten and shouldn't be here. They are only in it for the patch and the status of being with a biker."
I know she is right, I have seen some of them, but then others were nice, and I got along with them.
"Can I help with something?" Jason asked as he stepped closer. "I cant just stand here and watch you all work while my hands are empty."
Setting him up with chopping, I helped with some others. Blue was in heaven as the women kept slipping him pieces of food.
"You all are spoiling him." I scold them. But all they do is laugh,
"He deserves some treats, I mean, look at him," Ronnie says as she kneels rubbing his head, and the big goof rolls over.
"See such a sweet boy." She coos at him,
I shake my head, and I laugh, "Sure, take him for a night and then tell me how sweet he is."
"Oh, no sense, what can this wonderful boy do wrong?"
"He is a bed hog, and will wake you up at three to out potty cause the ass will drink a whole bowl of water then go to bed."
Ronnie laughs as she stands, "Well now, I cant be doing that midnight pee, I love my sleep, and no matter how sweet you look, and no one messing with my sleep, it is not healthy for others if I do not get enough sleep."
Blus just lies there on his back, belly up, not caring that he just got dropped like a hot potato, but the next minute, Ronnie tosses him a hunk of meat. "But I will still feed you." She calls out.
A smile breaks out on my face, and it's a real one, not a forced one. It feels like it's been a long time since I smiled a happy smile.
