Chapter 4 The Betting

1244 Words
The Noble Club was the largest entertainment city in the city, known as a sleepless club. There was the most luxurious nightclub and the top auction house. Yet it was best known for its arena Noble Club Dungeon. Noble Club Arena was an upgrade of underground boxing. No matter what the boxer's identity was, what method they used, or whether it was a man or a woman, the winner was the king. The Noble Club's ace was Zoe Calton. She threw punches quickly and accurately. During her four years at Noble Club, she had never lost a game. Many people came for her. To prevent her from throwing "fake punches", Noble Club only bet with the gold owner himself and did not open an offer for retail investors, which made tickets for the Noble Club arena hard to get. The arena was like a miniature ancient Roman arena. The central flat was the performance area. The surrounding stands rose row by row. There were three floors in total. When the clock struck eight, everyone cheered. The first three games were all challenge matches from other clubs, but the audience didn't like it. They shouted in deafening voices, "Noble Club, Noble Club..." Scarlett stood in the rest area on the first floor. She narrowed her eyes and watched the game on the field. The boxer who just fought the game was added at the last minute. If she remembered correctly, he was one of the men who had appeared at the safety exit just now. Scarlett looked sideways at the auditorium. The VIP private room in the middle of the second floor, which had never been opened for four years, was opened today. Although the light was very dim and the people in the private room could not be seen clearly, she could feel a cold gaze. They were coming for her. Scarlett let out a long breath. She had never been afraid in the arena, but the cold gaze somehow reminded her of the humiliating scene when the man coldly told her to go away last night. "Don't be afraid, Scarlett, you can handle it. Everything is not as scary as it used to be." Scarlett breathed deeply and jumped in place, stretching her stiff muscles. "Next game, Zoe VS Rossie." The host stood in the center of the stage and shouted excitedly, "Rossie has won three games in a row, and he can finally challenge our Noble Club's ace boxer - Zoe! Which of them will be the boxing champion tonight? Let's wait and see." There were whistles and screams in the stands. Almost all of them were chanting "Zoe". Mike frowned, "So noisy!" A man in blue said with a smile, "This is how powerful Zoe is. Mike, she is my biggest achievement in the past four years. I will show you today." Brian looked curious, "Rex, has she been wearing a mask all the time? Have you ever seen her face?" "Well, she looked ridiculous with a face scarf on the first day of the interview." Rex Jones looked proud, "I gave her the mask. It’s mysterious and powerful." Brian looked disdainful, "So you haven't seen her face?" Rex was at a loss for words. Although he had always thought that as long as Zoe could make money for Noble Club, it didn't matter what she looked like. But at this time he felt a little frustrated because he didn't even know what his subordinate looked like. "They’re putting the cage down." The crowd suddenly yelled excitedly again. When the cage was put down, it was going to be a bloody fight. An iron cage was slowly lowered over the octagonal arena. Rossie, who was topless, stood in the center of the arena and hooked his finger at the rest area. It was annoyingly provocative. Scarlett took a sip of water and was about to step forward when her assistant stopped her and pointed behind her, "Zoe, the boss wants to talk to you." Scarlett turned her head and saw a man in blue standing in the shadow of the rest area. Scarlett frowned slightly, and walked towards him, "Mr. Jones, what is wrong?" Rex's face couldn’t be seen clearly in the shadow, "I'll place a bet." Scarlett said, "You should place your bet with a dealer..." "I’m just betting with you," Rex interrupted, "If you lose tonight, take off your mask." Before Scarlett could answer, Rex had turned and walked away. Scarlett curled her lips. Well, a rich man was so domineering. The moment the iron cage was lowered to connect to the octagonal fighting arena, the audience screamed, and even the people in VIP private rooms on the second floor shouted in deafening voices, "Zoe, kill that bastard." "Zoe, if you win, I will send you diamonds as a gift." Mike glanced lightly at his neighbor who had already rushed to the railing and snorted coldly. Rex poured a cup of coffee casually and handed it to Mike, "How about a bet?" Mike took the cup but didn't answer. Rex continued, "Since the Reeds have agreed to this marriage, it will probably be found soon. If Zoe wins tonight, let me try that thing first." Mike put down the coffee cup. He watched Rossie easily dodge Zoe's straight punch in the octagonal cage, and said lightly, "Even if you lose, I'll give it to you anyway." Rex felt warm. Just as he was about to thank him, Mike added, "Noble Club Group will take 20% of the Jones’s profit." Brian watched from the sidelines and laughed hysterically. "Zoe, Zoe!" Mike frowned as the audience screamed. In the octagonal cage, Rossie's left eye was red and swollen, and there were faint bloodstains at the corner of his eye. Zoe didn't show any wounds because she was wearing a mask, but she was jumping easily. It was obvious that she was not injured. Rex whistled happily, "Rossie become weaker. It seems that you have had a good time abroad in recent years. But I have to rely on myself and can't relax for a day." Scarlett didn’t find it easy. Although she hit the opponent just now, she was also hit on the forehead. Her head was a little dizzy, and the pain from the tear in her body had not healed. At this time, every time she jumped, she could feel a burning pain. She wouldn't lose, and she couldn't lose. If her identity was exposed, Noble Club probably would not tolerate her. This was the only place where she could gain freedom and value. She didn't want to lose it. At least she couldn't lose it before graduation. Scarlett took a deep breath, bent her knees, and suddenly jumped up. She threw a punch at Rossie's injured left eye and slammed her knee hard into his face as he turned sideways. "Wow, Deeton Boxing! Zoe is putting Deeton Boxing to good use." The audience screamed with excitement. However, this time her attack was not successful. Rossie locked her bent knees with both hands and slammed her directly against the octagonal cage. The violent impact penetrated her chest from the back and there was a bitter taste in her throat. Scarlett was smashed to the ground hard. Her hands were trembling against the ground, and even worse, a wave of inexplicable nausea made her dizzy. "If you give up," Rossie walked to Scarlett and said flatly, "I'll let you go."
