ALARIC
I can feel Aladin's quick and desperate scratches within my head, together with his low growls and frantic plea for freedom. The moment my fingers touched this woman's skin, he snapped. Desperate. Rapid. Uncontrollable.
This she-wolf is nothing remarkable. Just hair with a dark shade of brown and black eyes that were almost being covered by her long bangs. She looks… boring. If I will compare her to the women in our pack, she is nothing but an eyesore.
Is she seriously my mate?
I want to laugh and curse fate for playing with me. Of all women, I am really mated with someone who came from the pack that I loath the most. This one is probably an omega too. I can't sense even a bit of power or royalty in her body.
"Mate!" Aladin screamed in my head repeatedly like a madman. "Claim mate!"
I closed my eyes and shut Aladin off. It usually works, but I think that the effect of this mate bond makes him more stubborn and hard to control. He tries to shift, but I am not a weakling to have a wolf that controls me.
This woman looked up at me, and with our eyes meeting once again, my wolf became crazier. I can even feel him trying to shift, and I know that this woman saw the changes in my eyes.
Annoyed, I pushed my finger inside the open wound of this woman. The moment she screamed in pain, my wolf became enraged.
"What are you doing?!" Aladin shouted as he tried to take over and stop my finger from moving and inflicting pain to his mate. "She is our mate!"
I pushed my finger deeper, causing more damage than what her skin had earlier. "She's your mate, not mine," I answered. "If you don't want me to hurt her, then stop annoying me."
Aladin growled slowly, but he followed my words. Once my head was already cleared up, I removed my hand from her. The woman touched her painful cheek as her family tried to console her.
They look like a lovely family. Too bad, they will die pretty early.
I turned to my warriors holding the spears. "Finish them off. I still have more important things to do," I ordered before turning my back to them.
The moment I spoke those words out, my wolf roared and tried so hard to control my body, making me take a step back. His curses echoed in my ear, together with the screams of the family behind me.
Then, I felt something pull my coat. It's not a strong force, and I must say that I would think a child did it. However, with Aladin trying to control me, that gesture was able to make me stop.
"I can help you!" the woman shouted as she grabbed the fabric, making turn to face her again. Her desperate eyes focused on me, with a firm look as if she was ready for a negotiation. "I can. I think you will need me."
I squinted as I looked down at her. Curiosity filled a bit of my head, but a huge part of me says that it's just a way for her to escape.
"In what way do you think you can help me?" I asked with a mocking tone. Even if she is my mate, I can just reject her right now so that she wouldn't use anything against me. Even if my wolf won't permit it.
She swallowed, catching her breath before speaking. "I can help you escape death," she firmly replied. "I can see how you will die and you can use it to escape and live."
Silence covered everyone, with only the heavy rain making noise around us. Even her family seemed shocked by what she said, but this woman looks determined and serious.
"You sure love making stories, but you're not good at it," I responded, pulling my clothes from her grasp. However, she grabbed on it harder until I could see the visible wrinkles on it. "You think I'll believe your lies? You should have thought of a better one, omega."
I pulled once again, but this woman is really stubborn. We looked like we were playing tug of war, and like every war, I always win.
I kicked her face once and it was enough to make her let go of me. Her face turned to the side and the mark of my shoe was visible on her skin. I thought that is enough to stop her, but this woman must be as stubborn as my wolf
"I'm not lying!" she exclaimed while looking at me once again, moving closer. "I can do it! You have to believe me!"
My jaw moved as I'm starting to get annoyed again. I don't even know why my warriors are still not cutting their heads off even if I already told them to do so.
"Then prove it," I challenged her even though I know that it's impossible. She can just spit out random causes of death, and I won't believe any word from her.
Her mother tried to stop her as the woman stood up. She was limping and it's obvious that she's dizzy.
"This attack," she spoke slowly as she caught her breath. Blood started to pour out from her nose, but she just wiped it to the side. "I saw it. I saw the arrows, the spears, the dead people. I even told Alpha Gabriel about it."
The pathetic alpha's words echoed in my ears once again — the one he said before I cut off his head for revenge and entertainment. Something about someone's right words.
"What's your name?" I asked.
"Nysera."
I stared at her face for a long time. Silence covered us, and her nose kept on bleeding as she tried to breathe properly. My mind is in chaos — one telling me to believe her and one saying that I should just finish her off.
And I chose the one where I will benefit more.
"Chain them," I ordered my warriors, breaking the heavy silence before my eyes looked at the faces of these low werewolves clinging to their only hope of survival. "Be thankful that you're useful, or else, you won't get to see another day."
As they were being thrown to the back of the carriage, the metallic sound of the chain echoed, and it sounded very pleasing to my ear. I gave one last look to Nysera.
"You and your family will live, but you all will live as prisoners," I said, my voice flat. "Don't ever dream more than that."
She will remain a prisoner, and a tool I can use to keep myself in power - nothing more. She will only be worth what her ability can offer. Once her work is done, I will dispatch her like the rest of her pack.
I don't care if Aladin will be mad, and I don't care if she's my mate. She's a part of the enemies, and what do I do to my enemies?
I kill them.
