Lane went back to his campfire and fixed a small breakfast. After eating he cleaned up and left a big arrow-shaped sign with a rock pointing toward the opposite side of the waterhole. The opening was well hidden but anyone looking should be able to find it. He saddled up and headed into the pool leaving the dead coals of his campfire in plain sight. He wanted to leave as many signs as possible just in case something happened or someone needed to find him.
