The PE class was almost done today, and I am sitting with Charise on the bench at the gym. We had basic exercise as start of our PE class. Some girls were still having their own practice.
I’m tired of the rumors about me getting the high score during the surprise quiz yesterday. It was on the whole campus, and I’m sick of it. Back at New York, I do not gain much attention as this. Only those who truly knows me notices me, and its very different compared to being the content of their gossips.
“Are the students always like this?” I asked Charise pertaining to the students giving me stares.
“Not really, most students here neither fear, respect or hate the Campus Queen. Only few of them knows the real story of her family and how she actually behave. So I guess, those stares means either hate or love,” she explained. I got even more confused with what she said.
“Damn, just what kind of family she has?” I asked, annoyed.
“Her mother is very controlling and her father doesn’t care about her. That’s what I know, and it makes her rebellious.” She explained again, while I stare nowhere.
“Actually, there’s more story about her,” I recognize Alquette’s voice, and it pulled me back to reality.
“Where are they?” Charise asked Alquette with a questioning face. She was always seen with the campus royalty. Even me seeing her in front of me feels odd, I was used to seeing her with the group.
“I’m tired of being with them,” she said, rolling her eyes. “Kristel have been called at her home, maybe her mom knew about the surprise quiz and I think she’s going to be scolded,” she continues with a smile. Charise also had a grin on her face.
“And Reyva, I’m sure I wasn’t able to tell you all about the academy,” she said as she looks at me and took a sit beside me.
“And?” I said, expecting for her to tell a story.
“So yeah, about Kristel. Everybody knows that Calix Jones is her father but no, Ms. Kaitlyn is just crazily in love with Mr. Calix and she did everything to marry him, even if it means she’s stealing him away.” She informed us, now I know the name of her father.
“Wow, what a messy family she has,” Charise reacted.
“Messy indeed.” Alquette replied looking at Charise.
I always had the feeling that the queen of fairytales have a family like that. She is too visible. I saw the way how she quickly shift from being mean to like a prim and proper lady. Who knows how she deal with a family like she has?
“The election for new government officials is actually on going and Mr. Calix is running for government. Sophia’s and Ashley’s father is also running for a new position.”
“Yes, I’ve heard about that. They are having campaign from every corner of the town. Like as if they need it, they will surely win using money,” Charise scoffed.
“What does everything have to do to me? I mean, I am just a new student here!” I yelled frustrated, enough just for them to hear.
“Yes, but you see, a new student here is not usual, especially from a large city.” Alquette explained.
“What? The heck with this place,” I said.
“I was even wondering how you got admitted in this academy because practically, everything has to go through Ms. Kaitlyn who thinks she owns the school,” Alquette said looking intently to me. I felt a little chill with her stares, or maybe from what she just said.
“What’s happening?” I mumbled. There are too many new information and my mind feels like its going to explode.
“This small town is basically being run by Kaitlyn’s family. They are the richest in this town, and with that, it means power. They use it to manipulate things on the town, in order to protect their dirty business.”
I look at her, searching her eyes. She knows much. And from the looks of her eyes, she want to know something. I came here through my parents, she wants to know about them. But, I can’t tell that they are agents.
“Wait. How did you know all about this?” I asked, throwing the question back to her.
“I’ve been hanging with Kristel for too long, I know enough.” She shrugs.
“I think I spend too much time with you today, you know the rumors spread quick. So, I’ll be leaving first.” She said as she stand. Dusting her pants.
“And before I forget, you better look around your house. That house used to be under Kaitlyn’s property 2 years ago. I’ll be seeing you tomorrow,” she said and winked.
All the information she told me is bothering me. The house. My parents told me it was inherited. I need to clear my mind.
“I’ll go home too Charise.” I said to Charise who has been silent all the time. Not waiting for her reply, I briskly walked to the exit and went to my motorcycle. I have to know something, something that could clear my mind.
