Allan's POV "Hey Ani, aren't you ready for school? Common, lets get going, my mom must be looking for me now", Allan shouted. "If you won't wait till I'm done then go away", she shouted back. "yeah, I won't wait, bye", he shouted again and pretended to leave. He stayed behind and waited patiently for his dear friend while his mom was at home thinking he was in his room. Ani came out of the room feeling really bad that Allan had left without her, he was such a bad, she had concluded. "Tada", Allan screamed, jumping out from the corner he had hid himself and that made Ani's heart jump out through her mouth, "Allan! What did you do that for? You scared me to death and trust me, it's not funny" "Oh, my princess, I'm truely sorry", he said holding his two ears and pouting like a baby, "I really didn't mean to scare you", "okay, I thought you said you were leaving?" "Leaving? Without my princess? No way. Don't tell me you really believed I was going to leave without you Ani", he said faking a sad face. "you are Allan, my friend and my prince You can do anything, especially when you are not thinking straight", she replied giving him an emotionless look. "Humph, now I wish I never made that joke in the first place", he thought to himself. "Okay, I promise never to make such joke again. Now please princess, let's get going", "better", she replied, leading the way to the door while he quietly followed. They went to Allan's home only to see his mom pacing to and fro like an angry lion idea, "let's walk quietly to my room, she won't notice us", he whispered. They were not lucky enough to get past her without being caught. "Get back here naughty children", she shouted once she sighted them, "what do you think you are doing trying to play smart with me? I've been looking for you over thirty minutes now, and now you are here trying to outsmart me", she angrily said as she held Allan's hand and pulled him closer to her. "Now tell me, why did you leave without telling me?" She further inquired. "Mom please, I'm sorry, I won't do it again", he pleaded remorsefully. "Ma'am Loui, we are so sorry. I'm so sorry, it won't happen again. I am the reason we are late, he was waiting for me", she intervened feeling really sorry for Allan and sad that they had upset ma'am Loui. "Okay, alright, I will forgive you both, but not without punishing the both of you" she said. "Ah! Thanks mom", they chorused. "don't thank me yet, you are both trekking to school", she said giving the kids a wicked smirk which tore their hearts making them sad. "okay, so you want some s******g", she asked with serious face making gestures with her right hand, "no oooooooo", they both screamed running off to school. "I don't feel like going to school any more", Allan said on their way to school. "and why is that?" Ani asked. "so that we can always go to that new park down our neighbourhood", "okay, so who are the 'we'?" "You and I of course", "If you don't want to go to school Allan, I want to and..............", she was interrupted. "okay princess, I was only pulling your legs, now let's run to school", with that, they sped off to school. Allan and Ani have been best of friends ever since they moved into the same neighbourhood. Their parents moved into the neighbourhood for very different reasons. Ma'am Loui moved into the neighbourhood after the demise of her husband, Allan was five at the time. Mr and Mrs Stevens moved into the neighbourhood because their business, it took them to different places. At the time the stevens moved in, Ani was only three, she was nursed by Nancy her nanny. Her parents were very busy people, they had little or no time for their child. They believed that all they had to do for her was to provide all her material needs, that's why they invested so much time in their business. As Ani grew up, she became more attached to Nancy than her parents and when Allan came into the picture, he took Nancy's place even though it wasn't completely. Ani visited Allan's home more because she felt homly there. She loved his mother because she always created quality time for her child. Ani always felt the sting of jealousy each time she watches his mother play her motherly role towards him. Sometimes, Allan complained of his mother always closing in on him, she doesn't give him any breathing space. When ever he makes such complain to Ani's hearing, she would jokingly offer her parents to him to have his. Joke, that was what it was to him and her other friends but only she knew what her jokes meant for her.
