Leaving For The States

Ani's POV

"Why do we have to move Nancy? Is there nothing you can do to make them have a change of mind?"

"Ani, your parents have to move to the states for their business and they don't want to leave you behind",

"but you can take care of me here. You've always been the one taking care of me not them, or don't you wanna take care of me any more? Are you tired of me already? Am I giving you too much trouble? Then I promise to stop, I'll be of my best behaviour hence forth, just convince them to go without us, please", Ani begged her nanny.

"Ani, my little princess, I knew you would'nt like the idea of moving so I tried to convince your parents to either remain here or go without us but she refused, she gave her reasons for refusing and I understood her. I agreed with her on her decision and you may not believe it but it's best for you, maybe you don't want to leave because of your friends or any other reason but remember you are only eight, you've got to see new places and meet new and interesting people and that doesn't mean you should forget your friends here, all thungs being equal you'll meet them in the future. You can't even tell if they would move to if you don't so princess, be ready because we are leaving Amsterdam in four days time".

All the while Nancy was giving her long speech, Ani sat quietly listening to her even though she felt she shouldn't be.

"Yeah, may be you're right, moving won't hurt a soul", she stood up from her bed, "I'm going to Allan's"

"you should", Nancy replied feeling happy that the little Ani she used to know was gradually growing up.

"Allan!!!!!", Ani called out when she got to Allan's house.

"Yes my princess", he answered from the balcony playfully.

"Come on Allan, this is no time for silly jokes", she replied as she went to the balcony where he was

Allan was busy with his new found pet, a little frog,

"ewe Allan, what are you doing with that thing?"

"it's my new pet, you wanna carry it?"

"yuck! No way. Allan you seem to be so happy that I'm leaving",

"How's that?" He asked innocently.

"I've been going around trying to find a way to convince my parents to either stay back or leave without me to no avail, while you are here having fun. It's not fair Allan", she complained.

"Ani, it's nothing like that. Believe me, I'm not happy about this new development but what can I do, your parents already made their decision and I'm forced to live with it",

"Then come with us, you know my parents won't mind"

"Aniii, I mind. I have a mother to care for.

"Allan",

"yes Ani",

"I don't want to go to the states without you, and even you don't want to stay back without me, Allan, why not you come with us,"

"Ani, as much as I don't want you to go, I can't come with you, you know it's not possible. But I know how we can always talk to each other even without seeing our selves",

"how",

"come, let me show you", they both went into his room.

While in Allan's room, Ani quietly moved around the room reminicing all the time she had had with Allan and their other friends right there, oh, how much she was going to miss out on. Her dear friend, Allan, her other friends and the town, "psss, I'm already missing everything".

"Hey princess, come over here"

"Yes my prince, I'm here",

"Look at what I got for us", he said showing her the two half heart pendants in his palm",

"This is for you", he said, placing one half pendant already attached to a tiny chain around her neck. "And this is for me", he said placing the other half around his neck. "Now when ever you miss me or you feel like I am so far away from you this pendant will remind you that I am always close to you".

"Oh Allan, thank you so very much. You have given me this gift, now I will have to give you my own gift. Come with me".

The two friends went to Ani's home. When they got there, they met Nancy, her nanny, she welcomed Allan and gave Ani a prying look while Ani in turn gave her the I'm sorry look. Afterwards they went to Ani's play room. She went straight to a small box, she unlocked it and brought out a little beautiful doll, that doll was one of her most cherished toys. She had named it Princess Ani. She loved the toy not only because it was beautiful but because it could speak. She couldn't have a normal conversation with it quite alright, but it could repeat anything she said.

"Allan, this is Princess Ani, she's my gift to you", she said, handing the toy to him".

" Wow thanks Ani", he gave her a tight hug.

The next three days were filled with activities for Ani as she was determined to get as much fun as possible with her friends before she would say her goodbyes. She lived those three days as if they were her last, she tried to make the best out of it and yes, she did, she made remarkable memories with her friends.
