Linda's POV
"I don't want to go to college, it's so boring, books books books, that's all it's all about, I just wanna flex. I can't kill myself".
"Really, you wanna flex, no college, just flexing, you aint serious",
"Of course I am girlie, and you know that"
"okay, why don't we just go down and tell your mom you only wanna flex, no college",
"no way, she will kill me",
"yes way, I'll see to that, right away",
"Aniiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii".
"okay, I only took a step and you screamed this much, but now, I'm going",
"okay fine, I'm going to college to........."
"study, other wise I'll always snitch on you",
"yeah yeah, study".
"you know, I've been thinking of what to wear to prom and I just do not know what to do",
"someone has got to go to a lieing school so she can study lieing and graduate. You know, if you simply say you don't want to go to prom night it won't take a thing from you",
"yeah yeah, I don't wanna go",
"the hell you do babe. You have no idea of what you'll miss out on if you decide not to", Linda said.
"I don't care. Specially since you must have an escourt".
"Ani", Linda called out.
"yes",
"let's go to your house", she said standing up and at the same time pulling Ani up with her.
"to do what?" Ani asked once on her feet
"let's just go", she replied, leading the way.

"Is ma'am Nancy home?" Linda asked once they stepped into Ani's home.
"Yeah! And probably waiting patiently for me to show up".
"okay, where's that coming from?"
"What?"
"why would she be waiting for you?"
"because she's super excited about the prom and is bent on convincing me to accept Bryan as my escourt".
"okay I like that one".
"To my room please", Ani said feeling frustrated.
The girls got to Ani's room and met Nancy there. She was going through Ani's things.
"What are you doing?" Ani asked with frustration as she sighted some of her dresses on her bed.
"Oh! You are here. Well, since you complained about not having any dress for the prom and you made it clear you didn't want a new dress, I decided to see for myself and as you can see princess", she pointed to the dresses on Ani's bed, "I've got good results".
"My world!" Ani exclaimed as she quietly walked to her bed.
"she caught you girlie", Linda said to her not hiding the bright smile on her face.
"So, ma'am Nancy, let's take a good look at your good results and see what will suit our dear princess".
"Let her make her choice Linda"
"Okay, I don't know what to wear so you are both free to choose for me", Ani said.
"Ani, you know that no matter what you wear you will always look good, you have grown into a beautiful lady. What to wear should'nt be your problem, and you'll have to make your own choice by your self"
"yeah yeah, so I can wear this?" She asked, lifting a burgundy coloured dress.
"perfect choice my dear. When is the prom coming up?"
"two weeks from now", Linda answered giggling.
"Okay, so I would be your chaperone", Nancy said to Ani.
"Linda, who will chaperone you for the prom?" Nancy asked Linda.
"my mom".
"I wish my mom would be my chaperone at the prom, but I guess she has more important things to do", Ani said sadly.
"Ani, we've talked about this severally, don't be like that okay, no matter what, your mom loves and cares for you and that's why she's working hard to give you a perfect life".
"A perfect life, without my parents' love and attention is meaningless Nancy".
"Ani, girlie don't be like that", Linda consoled her friend.
"okay, I think it's high time we changed this topic princess. So, who will be your escourt or whose escourt will you be for the prom?" Nancy interrupted.
"I don't know. I've not decided yet".
"so that means there's a long queue of guys asking right?"
"yeah, right".
"who are you picking?"
"no one"
"and why is that?"
"because I don't like any of them, they are all so arrogant and annoying, I can't even stand the sight of any of them".
"And Bryan, you don't like him too?"
"you already know the answer to that".
"you know that boy realy likes you".
"and that's the more reason I don't like him. If he's not fine with just being a friend then I'm sorry, I can't continue with him".
"Ani my dear, take it easy. Remember you can't be at the prom all by yourself, and I can't be your chaperone and your escourt at the same time".
"Yea, I know"
Linda sat quietly beside Ani while Nancy was busy interrogating Ani about her escourt.
"why don't you ask Linda about hers", Ani suggested.
"Yes. Linda, who's your escourt to the prom?" Nancy asked.
"You don't know him", she replied.
"okay, but I hope he is handsome", Nancy teased.
"yeah, but not as handsome as Bryan", she mumbled the last part.
"Linda", Ani called giving her a little hit on the shoulder.
"what",
"I heard you",
"but that's true".
"okay girls, I'll leave you now", Nancy interrupted.
"Okay", they chorused.
