“What the f*ck are you doing?!” Luther shouted as he saw how messy the hall was.
“Don't you have a shame in yourself?!”
His uncle Edward laughed sarcastically. “Look who's here Leon, you're too good to be, true son.” he whispered, as if Luther didn't hear what he said.
“He just came back from the States and then looked at how he disrespected me. Is that what he learned from studying there?” his uncle Edward blurted out.
There are enough people in the hall and yet his uncle continues to talk ang humiliates Luther.
“Poor you my brother, you have a son who doesn't know his reputation and who knows nothing about business.” uncle Edward bluntly said, despite other people hearing what he was saying.
“And oh, I heard Luther will take over your seat, Brother? Is that your decision? Your will? Or just Luther feeling like being an heir?”
Luther can't get a hold of what his uncle is spitting in front of his father's wake. Without thinking twice, he walked fast towards him and punched him once again. He heard a gasp when his uncle fell down, but no one stopped and held Luther.
“What a pathetic ass-hole, saying nonsense in front of my father's wake. You're just my uncle, and perhaps I never liked you from the start. I don't respect those who don't respect me, as well as my father,” he muttered with greeting teeth. Luther stood straight and walked towards his mom.
He stops and utters, “You don't deserve my respect, uncle Edward.” Despite being angry, he still calls him uncle.
Thus, everyone who witnessed them talking back to each other was left dumbfounded. They thought this kind of situation only happens in a movie or a series, yet they just witnessed and saw what happened with their own eyes. Though Luther didn't mind those people and let them think what they wanted. He doesn't need to explain things to them, since it doesn't matter to them.
David immediately called some helpers to clean all the mess and fixed all the flowers that had been a mess.
“Why does your uncle behave like that? What happened at the office?” David asks uncontrollably.
“He asked me about what happened to dad, but then he immediately changed the topic about business that dad left undone, like the meetings and the other projects. It's like he doesn't care that dad died and didn't even ask what it caused. That made me angry, and he punched him for the first time.” Luther said with no emotion in his eyes.
“Oh, he really is like that, only cares about the business where he can get money. So, basically, that is his second time catching your fist? Woah, what a nice catch.” David jokingly said.
Luther just lets out a deep breath and just asks David what things are needed at his father's wake.
“I have settled everything already, there's nothing to worry about anymore, and if you want to talk about busi-” Luther cut him off.
“No, we'll just talk about business after dad's wake.”
David just nodded and understood Luther’s point. He approached his mother and her shoulder.
“Mom, do you want to eat dinner?” his mom didn't nod, instead she was just staring into nothing.
Looking at his mother's situation, swollen and tired eyes, pale, no appetite, no energy and one wrong move, she would surely pass out.
“Mom, you need to take a rest first. Let's go mom, I'll take you to your room.”
The hall is big and enough for a lot of people. David chose the right place and even put up nice decorations that matched the situation. The lights of the candles, the flowers and their color. It compliments a sad happy life. Therefore, you can easily tell that life has an end, even if you don't know when, where and how.
Seeing all the people who visited and showed their sympathy with the Walt family, it's a heavy feeling. The feeling that everyone doesn't want to experience. Why? Because all you can hear after are regrets, pity, sorrow, pain. Emotions that you can't understand and will just drain you little by little.
Life is meaningful, it really is, it does have challenges and such, but it doesn't stop there, because after all those hardships? Success will follow and eventually make you the life you ever wanted. And yes, it's not infinite. We are not in the fantasy world, we face reality. Where life comes to an end, but we know that there are different endings. The expected and the unexpected, we can't predict what will happen, but one thing is for sure, everyone's ending is death. A fact we must face and accept.
Luther knows what reality is, he's mature enough to handle things in life, and he doesn't want those people around him acting knowing everything, especially being immature. Because that irritates him in just a second. That's why he and his uncle had a fight at the office which all that his uncle said really pissed him off.
He goes out to the hall for a moment to get some fresh air. It's already evening, the stars are now showing, the sun has already fallen asleep and the moon's shining, even if it's half, it still shows its beauty.
While his hands in his pocket, Luther looks at how the moon shines bright like the stars. As he looks at it, he can't stop thinking of his father's smile. It's like he is looking at his father from far. He was just standing there, letting out a deep breath. This day is so long, it looks like the day is going along with them and giving sympathy to their lost.
And out of nowhere someone punched him, and made him in shock, but later on, he lost his care and let it be. Luther looked at the person who punched him. It was Richard, his uncle's son. Luther just smirked at him while Richard got irritated. He was supposed to throw another punch at Luther when he was able to catch Richard's fist and twist his arm. They didn't know that Luther had enrolled in martial arts from the state, that's why he was able to avoid the second punch that Richard was supposed to throw at him. Richard groaned from the pain, so Luther freed him.
“That's for punching my father two times!” Richard hissed while holding his arm from the twist.
“Is that all you got?” Luther asked, not minding what Richard said to him. Luther held his jaw as it hurt a little, when he touched his lips it had a scratch and a little blood.
“Luther, I know you're hurt about Uncle's death, but disrespecting my dad is not right. You even punched him in front of Tito's wake? Are you insane?”
“You don't know anything, Richard, so better be out of this mess,” Luther calmly said.
“Mess? You're a mess, Luther. My father just wanted to help you, yet you're so full of yourself. Acting like you know everything? Damn, you just got back from the state, Luther. You don't know anything here,” Richard said coldly.
With what Richard said, Luther looked at him coldly and his jaw clenched from those words he heard from him.
Luther laughed sarcastically. “It’s you who doesn't know me Richard, so back off.”
