Three months had passed, and he hadn’t seen or heard anything of Ansley or Garret. And he still felt the same about her and missed her just as he did that day, she walked away from him. The connection between them was insane and like nothing he had ever experience with anyone else. He had heard that Garret had went away with his Grandfather for an extended trip. He hoped that didn’t mean Ansley went too. He wondered why he had never seen her at a pack meeting before and none since. He didn’t always go to them, but he had since he had seen her, he had hoped to see her again, but he hadn’t. He would keep going in the hopes she would show up. Even though he hadn’t seen her he had heard from a few of friends that she didn’t come to all the pack meetings because she didn’t live all that close, but she was still within the pack territory. But no one knew an exact address, unfortunately.
To Tye’s surprise at the next pack meeting she came. He couldn’t believe it and he was so glad that he had decided to keep coming to the pack meetings even after being humiliated, and that hadn’t been easy at first, but it got easier over time. Besides everyone seemed to understand and sympathized with Tye. They had all said that that if it had been them, they would have been baffled and probably reacted the same way. So that put Tye’s mind at ease somewhat. However, with her there again and so close it all rushed back to him. What if she felt differently? What if she thought he was a laughingstock for letting Garret get away with what he had done to him, but he hadn’t been able to think anything rationale, he could only feel at the time. He hoped she could understand that. Maybe she felt the same and was in shock and that was why she didn’t react differently. Tye hadn’t thought about that before, but he would try to give her the benefit of the doubt. After all she was his mate and he intended to be forgiving of her. It would only hurt him more to stay away from her any way and he had already felt more heart ache than he cared to. He hoped that would all change now that she was there. Hopefully he could talk to her and make amends and things would be better. He would do whatever she wanted him to. He just needed to be by her side.
He tried to wait a few minutes before approaching her, but it was hard. So hard! He just wanted to run to her. To be with her. To just be in her presence made things so much better. After a few minutes he walked over to her and tried to take his time about it to give her some space and see her reaction when coming up to her. To his surprise she smiled, but then it quickly faded, like she was trying to keep distant and not show any reaction, or reveal the connection that she felt between them But her face had betrayed that initially and Tye knew then that she did feel the same as he did and she had recognized him as her mate and felt elated when it happened, but why was she denying it? Why was she trying to keep her distance of him and not just be accepting? He just couldn’t understand any of it. Why would she inflict that kind of pain on him and herself? Tye wasn’t exactly sure what to say when he stopped in front of her. But he wasn’t going to let that stop him. He needed to do this! He needed to do something! So, he said whatever came to mind. “So, I’m Tye. You’re Ansley, right? I know we may have started off on the wrong foot before, but I hope we can move past that, and maybe start fresh?” Ansley looked down at the ground and kicked the gravel around. Tye wasn’t quite sure what to make of it. So, he thought that maybe getting her off to themselves would help so he asked her if she wanted to go for a walk. To his surprise she said she would. At first, they walked in silence. Then Tye started to speak, but Ansley cut him off. She said “look Tye, I know that we are supposed to be mates. I do! I get it! I feel really strongly about you too! But We can’t do this! I was already in a relationship with Garret before any of this happened and it’s unfair of me to hurt him like that! I’m so sorry, I know it hurts you too and I hate that! Trust me it hurts me too, but I can’t do that to him. It’s unfair! I hope you can understand and respect my decision”. Her words cut through Tye’s heart like a knife. And once again he felt his heart shatter into a million tiny pieces and Ansley must have picked up on it because she looked so sad and Tye felt his grief intensify and he figured it was her emotions mixing with his own. She started to reach for him and stopped herself. He just looked at her with tears in his eyes and the same reflected in hers. But Tye decided he would give her space as she asked, but before going he gave her his phone number and told her that he didn’t expect her to give hers in exchange but he wanted her to have his just in case she needed him or anything, or changed her mind. And with that he walked away. He went to his car and left. The entire way back to his house he was basically driving on autopilot. He was trying to not think or feel. He went to bed early and just refused to think about anything more that night
