CHAPTER EIGHT

SYDNEY GOLD

I stirred in my sleep as I felt someone shake me vigorously. I jumped from the bed when I felt a sharp slap on my back and I winced in pain. Diana was standing in front of me, her face reddened as she fumed in annoyance.

"What is it again this early morning? Isn't today a Saturday!", I whined sleepy.

"You have the guts to sleep with all what's happening in this pack?", she nagged and I twitched my lips. "Well, my dear friend, you've been summoned to the training grounds", she dropped the bomb and the sleep left my eyes at once.

"What? Why? What did I do? Why I'm I being summoned?", I asked confused. No omega was allowed to be at the training grounds so, I was surprised as to why I was being called.

' Maybe mate wants us to start our duties today ', Gold yelped happily and started dancing and I couldn't help but to laugh at her ignorance.

' In your dreams, wolf. Mate cannot accept us '. She stopped dancing immediately and pouted.

"You will never know what's going on in this pack since all you do is to sleep, you loghead".

"I understand that you're trying to insult me but can you first explain to me why I'm needed at the training grounds? Do they need me to serve them water or what?", I asked impatiently, shaking my foot and Diana bursted out laughing.

"If that was the case, they won't order for you specifically. Actually, it was Delta Samantha that summoned you", she replied and I hissed.

"What does she want this time around?", I asked nonchalantly. It was the Delta after all.

"She wants to duel with you, a fight till last breath", she dropped another bomb and I jumped out from my bed like someone who was burning and I faced Diana.

"Huh? What did I do wrong? Why does she want to fight me?".

"Well, according to what I heard, it's because of Alpha James, you being his mate and stuffs like that. You know that if a werewolf finds his mate and there is someone who doesn't approve of their relationship due to selfish interest as in the case of the Delta, the person is to duel with the mate till death or the wolf rejects his mate if he's certain that she can't win the fight?".

"I don't know", I replied dumbly and she shook out her head, trying to read my face for any emotions.

"You're not joking", she whispered and I rolled my eyes.

"So my mate is gonna reject me or I fight with Samantha?".

"Were you expecting something else? That the Alpha will leave the Delta for you?", she mocked and I rolled my eyes again. We heard a knock on the door and she looked at me as her eyes widened.

"They're here", she whispered and I furrowed my brows.

"Who?", I whispered back as she went to open the door. I swallowed my saliva in nervousness and I froze on standing as two warriors came inside my room.

"Miss Gold, you've been summoned to the training grounds. Please, come with us", one of them said and I rubbed my sweaty palm on my ragged skirt.

"Please wait, let me go take my bathe", I took my wrapper from my bed and made to go to the bathroom.

"Don't bother, you don't need to take your bathe, just come with us", the other said and I made a crying face and dropped the wrapper. I went out of the room, the warriors following me and Diana closed the door behind us and ran after us, clasping her hands in mine to calm me down.

We walked to the trainings and I couldn't help but to marvel at the sight. Though it was just a training grounds, it was a sight to behold.

"This place is wow!", Diana exclaimed and I hummed in response. We got to the entrance if the grounds and the warriors opened the doors. I closed my eyes and sighed in nervousness, my heart beating rapidly.

' You ready?', Gold asked and I opened my eyes.

' Yes. Let's do this ', I replied and entered inside.

JAMES WESTON

PREVIOUS DAY

I was dumbfounded by Samantha's outburst. She couldn't just duel with my mate like that. At least, I didn't order for her mate and I to duel like she's doing.

"No Samantha, you can't duel with her", I retorted, standing up and walking towards her as my friends watched in amazement. That was probably the first time Samantha and I were arguing.

"Why not? You didn't reject her planned so I'm taking the next step. Why don't you want me to do what I want?".

"I'm still trying to convince my parents. I can't just reject her and go against my parents".

"Oh! really? You would have told me that you wanted us to part ways, I wouldn't have rejected my mate to be with you", she yelled.

"Calm down, Sam, you're overreacting. I didn't say we should part ways, u said you should give me more time to sort it out with my parents first", I said, trying to control my anger.

"Till when, James? I rejected my mate and got into bad sides with my parents which I'm still trying to fix just because of you and you can't do same for me?", she asked in disbelief and I licked my bottom lip, ruffling my hair.

"Look Sam, it's not like that .......", I tried to explain but she didn't give me a chance to.

'It's fine but I still stand on my word, I want a duel with Sydney tommorow", she demanded and left my room.

PRESENT DAY

I watched as my mate came into the training grounds with her best friend and two of our best warriors. She really was beautiful and my mate who longed for her touch, begged me to go meet her but I didn't want to be with an omega.

I couldn't let a weakling who even had no wolf yet to rule by my side as the Luna of this pack during my regime. I needed someone like Samantha and truth be told, I loved Samantha.

I looked around and saw that the whole pack was here already and even my parents were seated on their seats. Now was the right time to end all this rubbish and let things go back to normal.

I couldn't let Samantha kill her, u would be in pains if she did. I walked towards where she was standing and her gold eyes lifted and met mine. I watched as she trembled as my wolf begged me not to do anything stupid.

"I, future Alpha of the Moon pack, James Weston, reject you, an omega of the Moon pack, Sydney Gold, as my mate and the future Luna of my pack", I announced upon reaching where she was and gasps were heard from the pack members.
