I groaned as I tried to move my limbs and gradually open my eyes. I couldn't see much at first, but I saw multiple silhouettes near me.
"Argh..."
"Mister! He is waking up! Call the captain quick!!"
Someone shouted making my ears ring. Who the hell shouted near a damn patient?!
"Shu...shut..up" I huskily said as my vision became more vivid. When I regained full sight. In front of me was a blonde man standing, wearing an armor with red eyes and a growing faded goatee. He appears to be a few years older than me.
I couldn't talk because of my dry throat. How long was I passed out?
A pre-teenage boy dressed in white robe with gold lining approaches me with a glass of water in his palms. Astonishingly, I still have the stamina to extend my hand to drink the water. Is this one of the benefits of being a transmigrator? If this were in my real life, I wouldn't even have the energy to move on my bed.
"Do you need more water?" The blonde man asked. I shook my one hand as a gesture to say no.
"How long was I passed out?" I instantly asked, turning my head in search of a window to determine the time.
"Three days." He said briefly before moving closer to me. He took a stool and sat down. "Confess everything as to what happened on that day."
′Damnnn, this man look strict as heck! Can't you see I'm a patient!?′
I was ready to pretend feeling ill when I realized I was naked. My torso was wrapped in a bandage, I wasn't wearing any trousers, and the blanket was the only thing covering my underpants. Since, this is in medieval era, the underwear is rather thin.
′AAAAAAAAHHHHH′ I screamed inside my head.
I just sat on the bed steadily still, not moving a single inch. "Is there something wrong?" He asked while he crossed his arms and fixes his posture.
"Oh..o-oh! Be-because I still feel s-sick!" I faked a cough in the end.
"So, pleasewhereismyclothesifeelcold" I said without breathing in between the words and my eyes were shot up wide open.
The blonde man raised one brow. "This entire room is being heated by magic stones, and your blanket has been cast with heating magic, so why are you cold?"
′Oh'
I continue to smile with my eyes closed while going insane inside my thoughts!
′HOW STUPID OF ME TO FORGET IM IN A FANTASY WORLD! OF COURSE MAGIC IS EVERYWHERE IN HERE!
"Nothing, I just thought about it" I immediately respond without even thinking.
The blonde man hold his chin and tilted his head.. "Thought?"
′Ah, what did I even said?′ I feel like I want to cry from embarrassment. I was about to say something but he pulled out a sword close to my neck.
"Don't move"
'OF COURSE I'M NOT MOVING WHEN A SHARP OBJECT IS BESIDE MY NECK!!!'
The blonde man strikes his sword violently against a wall, severing it. The other side gushed out a lot of blood. "Holy..shit" I stared at it with amazement.
"Tch.. even the church has been planted with spies." The blonde man clicked his tounge, as he sheats his sword back.
The other people in the room panicked causing a commotion and the knights arrive in the scene. They helped the people to evacuate immediately.
"Can he walk?" A brown-haired knight asked the blonde man. Then both of them stared at me at the same time.
I said briefly. "Clothes. Please."
The clothes were brought by the young boy from earlier, then I thanked him and gently pat his head. He then dashed towards the knight stationed near the exit door of the room.
I was about to stand up from the bed that's when I realized something. 'Wait...does this mean they will see my see-through underpants?'
I looked at the two men, who were also staring at me.
′Look away, PLEASE!′ I fired my bloodshot eyes at them, forcing them to reflexively turn away.
I finished wearing the clothes that were given to me. It was a simple medieval clothing, a wrinkly tan colored tunic with a brown trousers and my worn out leather boots. We rushed out of the room after I checked my clothes. As we ran along the corridor, explosions from various places echoed through it.
"What the f**k is happening?"
"Dark magicians" The blonde man answered coldly as we continue running. We finally made it outside, where other people had safely retreated into the huge open space. I took a brief look around the structure and realized we were in a church on top of the small hill. I noticed the people beside me their expressions were filled with fear, while the others huddled together and whimpering. Then another set of explosions was heard.
'So these people are the priest and priestess..' I thought to myself, but I can't figure out why they seem...weak. Is it because I've read so many stories that I've come to assume that these people are usually mentally powerful because their healing magic is one of the most overpowered skills in a story?
I witnessed some knights who were badly injured, but even with two or less than five priests curing them, their wounds did not fully heal completely.
"This is really strange..." I mumbled to myself, unaware that I had been heard.
"You thought it too?" A woman with long pale green hair and keen golden eyes dressed as a priestess stood beside me the entire time. I didn't notice I was left alone by those two men from earlier, they're probably aiding the others.
"Ah.. I-"
"No, what you thought about it is true. If you look back in time and compare it to the present time, the divine power in the chosen people is diminishing, whether they are nobles or commoners, but some people, especially nobles, avoiding that harsh reality." She then went to heal an injured knight. However, her healing abilities were insufficient to heal the man.
The reinforcement knights arrive and carefully guide the priests and priestesses outside the church who are unable to heal or attack due to shock.
′Ah.. the moment I woke up in this world.. everything was just going downhill.′
I can't even use any skills because this is not a game. Even if I shout 'status' or other skills like 'fireball' nothing will show up. The only game-like thing that popped up is when I obtained my metal card.
I lost that card, now that I think about it. I guess I will have to physically go in the guild in order to obtain one again.
'Not gonna lie, I'm getting restless standing here and just watching these priests and priestesses, what should I do...'
There were still explosions inside the church and more of the knights are getting injured.
'What the hell are they even fighting there?'
Then I remembered what the blonde man said earlier. But how can the dark magicians use their forbidden magic in such a holy place as this church? Wasn't light magic more powerful than dark magic?
'I should definitely quit thinking like this is a game...'
But the more I think about it, the more I realize I don't have an answer. An enormous explosion erupted from the massive doorway on the church's left side. A burst of powerful black wind blasted the blonde man and the other knights outdoors, causing them to collapse to the ground.
"Quickly! Heal both of them!" The woman who had been with me earlier ordered more than five priestesses to heal the knights, after which she led offensive attacks with other priests to fight off the dark magicians. Then, some knights were staggering to get up quickly as they continue to charge towards the dark magicians with their sword imbued with magic, while other priestesses cast defensive magic on all of the the knights from the dark magic.
Their magic causes havoc in the surrounding areas. While the other knights were in charge of evacuation, I chose to assist them by carrying the other priests and priestesses who had been blasted by the force of magic to safety. Some holy barriers were getting destroyed, forcing some priests to get blasted and pass out. The priests can't keep the barrier up much longer. We must flee as soon as possible before the entire barrier collapses.
'Tch.. if only I have skills, I maybe able to help with the fight but now I can't fight barehanded against magic!'
I carried a young girl and handed her over to a knight who was assisting the others in leaving the church. I saw the boy from earlier, he was petrified in one spot, as he was about to get struck by magic. I lunges forward to grab him and pulled him away. I was in time to save him, but if I waited any longer, we'd both get hit by the magic.
Suddenly, a massive bolt of lightning strikes between the fight, unleashing a massive force of magic. I quickly hid the boy behind me and covered my face with both of my arms, looking through between my arms as I shielded my face from small debris and the gushing magic wave.
"The royal mages are here!!! knights fallback!!!" The blonde man shouted as he retreats with the other knights.
The woman from before, as well as the rest of priests and priestesses, strengthened their holy barrier to protect everything from the devastating power that was about to fall.
When I looked up, there were three people and a white ball of light in the center. The ball slowly fell, and the black mages hastily retreated, but it seemed that their movements were being slowed, and then a massive explosion occurred. I heard some agonizing screams as the people trapped in the blast were burnt alive.
The holy barrier collapses, and some priests and priestesses are swept away by the massive magical wave. I set my feet firmly on the ground, and the boy behind me grabbed me tightly. When I noticed the priestess with pale green hair in front of me was about fall on the ground, I swiftly caught her and she fainted in my arms.
The three royal mages descends, they are dressed in a white and black cloak with gold lining and a touch of crimson, with their hoods covering their faces and the one in the middle takes out a scroll. When they opened the scroll, it began to levitate. Suddenly, a vast soft green light particles rose from the ground.
When I gazed at the woman in my arms, her bruises disappeared and her breathing returned to normal. A knight approached me and told me that I should carry the priestess to the tent that had been built up at the bottom of the hill.
I took one last glance at the destroyed church, and my gaze shifted to where the knights and royal mages were conversing. Then one of the royal mages noticed me, and our gazes instantly locked. I quickly break eye contact and carefully walk down the stone stairs with the boy, as I carry the fainted woman in my arms.
When we arrived at the bottom of the hill, the boy was reunited with the other priests, and we part ways. I entered the nearest tent and placed the woman on the white blanket set up on the ground, I was about to leave until she grabs my hand to stop me.
"Don't...leave..." she whispered unconsciously, her eyes still closed. I softly grip her hand in mine and let it go.
I walked out of the tent and met some knights introduce themselves, so I introduced myself as well, and I saw the blonde man in the middle talking with one of the knights, he spotted me and walk towards to me, handing me a metal card.
"Is this?"
"Yes, that's yours. I didn't have the chance to give it to you earlier." He replied as he look at the church that has now been destroyed.
"I appreciate your assistance earlier," he said, bowing slightly. His conduct caught me off guard.
"H-hey! Don't suddenly bow like that!" I yelled, frantically moving my hands because some knights were staring at us!
"No, I should be doing this, because without your help. I'm sure there would be more casualties." He raised his head and look behind him. I followed his gaze and saw some people crying deeply with a white cloth on the ground covering something.
I frowned as I realized what it was, the blonde man was going to say something when a random guy with spiky red hair and golden eyes dressed in a plain dark blue noble attire suddenly locked his arm around his neck and laughed.
"Oh, there you are captain!" He smilingly said as the blonde man getting irritated at him. He suddenly punch the redhead face causing the other man to release him.
"What are you doing here, Elran?" The blonde man asked as he watch the other man groaning in pain. "Stop pretending"
The redhead straightened his posture and saluted. "Aye! Aye! Captain!′ The blonde man, obviously wasn't amused at the redhead, he clearly ignored the other guy as he extends his hand towards me.
"I'm sorry for the late introduction, I'm Captain Arthern Reidengar, just call me Captain Reidengar." I shook his hand and introduced myself. "I'm Alvrion, just call me as it is."
'Well, I'm sure this guy already knows my name since he had my metal card earlier.'
"Oh! oh! Then...... I'm Elran Roharth!" he excitedly said. Then, he put his fingers in the center of his forehead and turned sideways to appear cool before speaking again. "Hohoho, also... I'M. ONE. OF. THE. ROYAL. MAGES!"
'This guy...'
A small teenage-looking girl appears behind the redhead and pulls his one ear. The redhead was flailing his arms in an attempt to break free. When the small girl turned around, she had twin buns and the same hair and eye color as Elran, then our gazes met. "Lily Roharth," she spoke shortly before continuing to drag the other person.
′Why is everyone I've met introducing themselves today....′
Captain Reidengar suggested that I should take a rest before leaving. We bid our goodbyes for the day as he went away to report the recent events to the higher-ups. As I walked to a large wooden table, I felt gazes on me, when I turned around, I noticed the two kids from the inn was staring at me. Then, they quickly hid beside the tent.
I grinned and walk slowly towards them, not making a single sound. I decided to just stand there and wait for them to take another peek. I could hear them talking quietly to each other.
"Do you think he sees us?" I heard Nathan speak first.
"Uh... uh... I don't think so," his younger sister replied quickly.
Nathan asked his younger sister, "Should we take another look?"
When they were going to peep, I jerked my head to the side, scaring them and causing them to shriek. I couldn't help but laugh at their expressions.
"A-ah! Mi-mister, you're he-here!" Nathan was still stunned but tried to speak up.
His little sister tugs on the end of my tunic. When I looked at her, she was holding an orange in one hand. "Uhm..this is for you.."
'So....'
′SO CUTE!!!!! SHE REMINDS ME OF MY NIECE!′
I smiled and opened my palm, where she placed the orange. She moved quickly behind her brother's back. When I look at the orange on my hand, it looks smaller on my palm.
'I still can't believe I'm a guy...'
"Would you like to eat this orange with me?" I asked, inviting them to sit by table.
Nathan shyly refused, but I push both of them towards the table. As we got closer, I noticed Elran talking with someone, I glanced at the person beside him, he has long white hair, green eyes, a slender man with a low thin ponytail hairstyle and...LONG POINTY EARS?! HE'S AN ELF!
"Oi! Alvrion!" Elran shouted my name and waving his arm gesturing to join them. I made an eye contact with the elf guy and it reminds me of when I was about to leave at the church earlier. The elf guy glared at me and walk away.
'Huh? What's the deal with him'
We arrived at the location where Elran had recently been standing. "Uh.. sorry about that.. Master Tarrcus just doesn't like commoners..."
′Ah, so that's the reason..′
"Don't worry! I told him about a certain commoner who was so brave and decided to support the backline when the dark magicians attacked the church! He's just shy!" He spoke while laughing and smacked my back several times. "By the way, can you come with me for a second?"
I lifted one brow and told the two kids to wait for us. I gave the orange back to Natasha. "Let's eat it when I get back," I said as she nodded and sat on the bench. Nathan appears he wants to come with us, but I told him to wait with his younger sister.
I followed Elran into the back of an alleyway. We came to stop in front of an old-looking door. "Where does this lead to?" I questioned him as I examined the antique door, which had carved out sun and moon patterns in the center.
He pushed the door open and motioned for me to be the first one to go inside. "What if I don't want to?" I asked firmly, looking him in the eyes.
"Well...about that.." he immediately moved in front of my face, his palm coated with blue smoke. "Then I'll just force you," he said, smiling.
Despite avoiding his strike, I received a scrape on the side of my neck. I take a step back to create some space between us. "Is this how the people here treat some-" Before I could finish my question, I felt something wrap around my torso. When I looked down, I saw blue smokes forming like chains immobilizing me. I strive to break free, but it's futile; the more I try, the tighter the chains become.
I glared at him, and he just grinned as he kicked me down the steps, making me roll down. As I continued tumbling down the steps, I screamed at the top of my lungs. "AAAAAAAAHHHHH!!!!" The chains vanished in instant when I reached the bottom floor. I was laying there grunting in pain when a huge ass leather bag smacked into my face!
'WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH THIS WORLD! IF SOMEONE IS TRYING TO WRITE A GODDAMN STORY ABOUT ME! I WILL SUE YOU!'
I slowly sat up and took the bag, which contained a bunch of vials with various types of liquid and some scrolls.
'This...are these potions?!' I took every vial and scroll out of the bag, shaking it to see if I missed anything else, and then a single paper landed on my legs, which I grabbed and read it.
"These crazy bastards......"
