>>> ENTERING THIRD PERSON’S POV
Alvrion screamed aggressively and crumpled the piece of paper before throwing it aside. He has no idea that at the back of the page lies an important message. The information written there was about a certain magic chant he could use to exit the dungeon immediately if he can’t handle the dungeon.
‘I’m so pissed...’ he muttered to himself as he slowly stood up and drank a low-quality health regeneration potion. His previous wound was gradually healing, and he could feel his body revitalizing slightly.
“Well, that’s one down and there still more left, so this is probably fine”
Alvrion unfolds a magical scroll, which levitates and gradually illuminates his surroundings. Moss grew on the cracked stone walls and floor of the dungeon. Water is also dripping from the ceiling and forming a puddle on the ground. The dungeon becomes larger as he explores. He arrived at an intersection for three caverns.
‘Why does this feel like deja vu....’
He chose the path in the middle, and as he walked further, he became aware of an ominous presence. He came to a halt and closed his eyes to concentrate and feel the atmosphere around him. He may lack magical abilities, but his senses are already above normal from his previous world.
‘This is strange...even if it is not my own body.. I can still use my senses as much as I could in the previous world.’
He opened his eyes and searched for any offensive type magic scrolls after hearing marching footsteps ahead of him. “Hm.. What does this mean?” He reads the words inscribed on the scroll’s exterior. “Open to use for water....”
‘Wait, as in water magic?’
Alvrion was increasingly thrilled as he pictured a massive water cannon shot from the scroll, making a strange grinning face as he clutched the scroll and waited for the mysterious creatures to approach him.
The marching became increasingly loud until it came to a halt. He spotted a horde of dark-skinned monsters around 3ft tall that appear like goblins in fantasy genre novels, but these goblins have scales, their ears seem like they’ve been bitten off, and their eyes were shut by a red blindfold. Some monsters were wielding a wooden spear, a club, or a staff.
‘Finally, some real isekai moment!’
He majestically unfolds the scroll, and water flows out, yet it has the same strength as water from a faucet. He got a puzzled expression, and he noticed something is written in the scroll.
‘For drinking purposes only’
“Whaa...WHAT THE FU-*%!!!!” He began running away from the monsters while cursing aloud, and the monsters pursued him.
He sprinted while he was rummaging through his bag for any sort of offensive magic scroll, but everything he pulled out was for basic needs, such as a water fountain to wipe your ass after you do your business somewhere.
As he ran back to where he had started, he discovered the staircase had vanished, leaving only an empty mossy wall. He turned around to see the monsters pursuing him.
He saw several oddly colored vials and instinctively threw them at the monsters. When the vials landed on the floor, they exploded, killing some monsters instantly. When some goblins approach him, he instantly kicks them away. He gathered more vials and used them as a bomb to kill the horde of strange goblins.
He sighed in relief and slumped on the ground after defeating the horde of goblins. “Good thing I didn’t try to drink that...” he muttered, short of breath from running and chucking vials like explosives. He then opens a vial and drinks one of the stamina recovery potions.
‘I’m glad I’m familiar with role-playing games...I simply based the potions on their color...if it’s red, it’s for health regeneration, if it’s blue, it’s for mana, green for treating deep injuries, and yellow for recovering more stamina. Also, the color of the liquid is the same in this world.’ He groans and staggers to his feet. Alvrion walks on top of the bodies and notices a bunch of little stones gleaming.
“Is this...?” Alvrion took one out and examined it carefully. “IT’S A MAGIC STONE!” He excitedly exclaimed, gathering all the magical stones he could find and able to fit in the bag.
'I can obtain money now!' He thinks joyfully as he returns to the intersection. He chose the path towards the right cave this time. He proceeded far deeper than the previous cave. When the light-emitting magic scroll gets close to what appears to be a wall. Alvrion raises his gaze and laughs dryly.
“Yep..not a wall but a massive door.. well, I’ll go check the left cave first.”
He explored the left cave and spotted a small old metal gate as he kept going. He got closer and observed that it didn’t have a lock. He went inside and it was just a medium-sized room, but he noticed something strange in the middle, which was a sword laid on top of a stone.
“Ha! Do you think I’ll fall into that obvious trap?” He said smugly, preferring to retain his distance from the sword while carefully surveying the room. He always checked his surroundings before taking any steps, because he may easily stumble on a trap and be killed.
Alvrion saw nothing but the one sword in the center, and he even examined the wall to check if there were any hidden mechanisms like in games. ‘Hmm...is this a sword for defeating the boss in the boss area earlier? Should I give it a shot?’ He thought to himself as he approached the sword. The blade of the sword bears a strange inscription.
He was hesitant to take it, but he believes it was set down by one of the royal mages because he remembers the elf guy wants to test him, so perhaps this is a sword provided for him. Alvrion instantly grabs the sword and holds it defensively. Fortunately, nothing happens and he sighs with relief.
He returned to the small old metal gate, but just as he was ready to open it, it suddenly got locked.
“Eh?” He continued to push the gate with one hand until he forcefully grabs the metal bar with both hands and shakes it aggressively in an attempt to get it to open “Let me out!!!!”
The entire room shook intensely, causing him to wobble and fall to the ground. The trembling has ceased, and the wall behind him has collapsed. As he turned around, he spotted a massive centipede-like monster emerge from the damaged wall. It had plain white eyes and horns like a moose but with sharper tips.
‘You’ve got to be kidding me...’
“HOW IS THIS AN E RANK DUNGEON!!!?” He was so frustrated that he inevitably shouted as he retreated to avoid the monster’s tail attacks.
If he hadn’t thrown that piece of paper away, he would have learned more about the monster’s vulnerability, which is fire. There is a red gem inside the monster’s underside. If you successfully shoot a fireball at the red gem, the monster’s armor will be easily destroyed. However, you must find the right moment to destroy the gem, which is when it fires a magical attack, because its underside will glow and you will easily spot the red gem.
He quickly lunges towards the monster while avoiding its onslaught. The sword strikes the monster, but it does not budge no matter how many times he attacks its body. He clicked his tongue in frustration, then dodged another tail attack, but the centipede-like monster was forming a ball of black lightning on its mouth while its underside lit up.
“Oh..fuck my life...” He muttered as he looks up, he saw the ball of black lightning that had been fired at him. Alvrion swiftly hurled a magic scroll and it opened before the attack struck him.
A strange inscription appeared and it translate into ‘Magic Barrier’
A purple barrier appears from the scroll, causing it to withstand the breath attack. The barrier collapses immediately, and Alvrion flees to a safer position. It was fortunate for him that he carefully read the descriptions of each scroll that is provided for him before entering the left cave.
Unfortunately, he only has one magic scroll barrier, and each magic scroll can only be used once.
The monster was ready to launch another breath attack. Alvrion rapidly made a huge distance himself from the monster. He spotted a peculiar red glow from its throat, and as his sight followed the strange line of red light, it became brighter until it stopped at a ball of red light.
He already knows what to do because he is familiar with role-playing games. He had already played a wide variety of role-playing games and read a bunch of novels from his previous world. Alvrion immediately hurled another magic scroll before the monster unleashed its breath attack.
A strange inscription appeared and it translate into ‘Stalactites Rain’
A swarm of stalactites descends on the monster’s head, forcing it to turn away from Alvrion. He took advantage of the situation by charging straight at the monster. He tosses another magical scroll and quickly drink a stamina regeneration potion.
A strange inscription appeared and it translate into ‘Ray of Flame’
The ray of flame shoots towards the central ball of red light, making loud shattering noises, and the monster shrieks as he sinks his blade into its flesh. He is trying to make the sword penetrate through the monster’s body, so he yelled with all of his might as he strengthened his posture and successfully pierced through. The monster screamed so loudly that the ringing in his ears paralyzing him.
“Arghh!!.....” He slipped his grasp on the sword and his knees collapsed to the ground; when he looked up, the monster was about to devour him.
‘Is... this is it?’
The monster’s jaw opens, showing razor-sharp fangs. However, the monster abruptly froze, and everything around him turned black and white. He could hear water droplets and bell chimes approaching him from behind.
When he turned around, he slowly became dizzy and his eyes became blurry before closing in an instant. He collapsed on the ground, unconscious.
A red-cloaked figure approaches him slowly. When the figure removed its hood, it revealed a woman with dark blue hair and glitters resembling a night sky. She has droopy green eyes with a red hue in the iris. She knelt beside Alvrion and placed both of her hands softly on his chest. As her hand brushed against his broad chest, the woman blushed slightly.
A ray of light appeared from Alvrion’s chest as the woman whispered softly. The light faded gradually, and she gazed tenderly at the unconscious man; she was about to hold one side of his face, but she retracted her hand and stood up. She then puts her hood back on and walks away without looking back.
When everything returned to normal, the monster collapsed on the ground, emitting a black smoke that slowly dissipated.
After a few moments, Alvrion wakes up groaning, unable to recall what transpired before. He immediately sprang up and moved his gaze around, trying to find the monster, but it had already mysteriously disappeared.
“What the hell happened..?” he mumbled to himself as he scratched his head in confusion. He was surprised when the monster suddenly vanished. He has no memory of anything that happened after he was going to be eaten alive.
‘Was the monster some kind of hologram? In a magical world, anything can happen and the elf guy was testing me...’ Alvrion contemplates, and he still doesn’t believe what he said because it all felt too genuine. He was going to retrieve his sword on the floor when he noticed a large magical stone shining nearby.
“No way......” He immediately understood where that magical stone came from, puzzled as to who saved him, and decided to flee immediately after fighting the monster.
‘Well....can I have this?’ He looked around to see if anyone was behind him, then hastily shoved the large magical stone inside the bag. "Hehehe.. free money..." he made a weird grin on his face.
As he reached the intersection, he discovered that the boss room was already ahead of him, but he couldn’t tell if he had already faced the boss from the other cave or if the monster was some sort of mini boss.
When the power in the light emitting scroll runs out, he quickly uses another one. ‘Thank goodness this type of scroll has a time limit, compared to the others, which disintegrate after usage.’ Unfortunately, this is his last light emitting scroll; he must finish the dungeon before time runs out.
He takes a brief check inside the bag, counting the remaining magic scrolls and vials. “Three....five....and three...scrolls remain...” He finishes counting and pauses still, realizing this is not enough for a boss fight.
The explosive vials have already been utilized against the horde of goblins. He has already used both stamina-recovery potions, and there’s just one of the magical barrier and stalactites rain scrolls. There are currently, two health regeneration, two mana regeneration, and one healing potion left. The last remaining magic scrolls are a water scroll, a wind magic scroll, and a transformation scroll.
‘Hmm.. There was no information about this transformation scroll,’ he examines the scroll, and an idea comes to mind. He remembered that the sword he was holding had a strange inscription; he hypothesized that he should use the transformation scroll on the blade to see if it would unlock anything powerful for him to wield.
When he opened the scroll, it began to levitate. The blade he was carrying glowed with a golden light. “Woah!!” He was eager to see what it would turn into. When the light faded, he looked at the sword, his face quickly shifting from excited to a deadpan expression. The inscription has vanished, and the sword now resembles a regular sword.
Alvrion was so disappointed that he simply bled spiritually. He leaned against a wall, as though his soul is about to leave his body. He straightened his posture and stopped his soul from floating.
“Okay! Let’s be optimistic, my man!” he walks back and forth, anxiously trying to think of any sort of explanation, “I’m guessing the inscription was some kind of seal, and the scroll just unsealed it!” He nodded to convince himself, hesitant to accept that his blade had simply turned into a regular sword.
He takes a deep breath and stands still in front of the massive heavy door. He pushes the door open, making a loud ‘creak’ noise. He notices a mossy stone stair and cautiously makes his way up.
"Huh?"
The moment he reached the top, what he saw is a vast meadow; he quickly turned around and the cave was gone; he glanced up and realized he had come from inside a massive cliff; he had unknowingly defeated his first dungeon.
