Sam
The past few weeks have been completely exhausting. Our entire pack has been on high alert due to the possible attack looming. More than once, our scouts have spotted a rogue coming near our border. Not to mention my wolf has been going insane. I’ve been doing my best to give Jewel the space that she needs, but it's hard. I dream of her often, but how I wish that that or relationship was. With her in my bed, as my mate. She hasn’t rejected me yet, but what other option is there.
I’m going over the schedule for next week. I’m trying to find ways to keep our strongest fighters on the borders, but without exhausting too many of them. Christine has been a nice addition. She has started to help set up the kid's home with Jewel. Her pack seems to naturally follow her direction due to her rank and their familiarity with her. I still think that she would make a great Alpha female. Maybe she just needs to gain some confidence.
I look down at my phone and see my sister Amber calling from California
“Hey Amber, can it wait?”
“Hello, Mr. Grumpy, it can, but I might have a fix to your problem or at least could help ease it.”
“Which problem is that?”
“Your border patrol. The twins have been here for a bit, but they aren’t ready to head back overseas. I can also send some warriors of ours as well to lighten your load. Our pack lands aren’t quite as large as yours.”
I sigh.
“That would help a lot. I just don’t understand how the Sunshine Pack has lived this long with their patrol being this lax.”
“Hmmm. Well, what is there to steal from a farm? They were peaceful and small.”
“True, when can the twins get here?
“I can fly them there this weekend.”
“Ahh, I see what this is. You want to put your new plane to use.” I chuckle. My sister worked as a pilot before she was reunited with her wolf in her twenties. Her mate also happened to have a private fleet, which she could fly at any time. So that works well for her.
“Yeah yeah yeah, basically that. Also all of this tracking this wizard s**t is driving me nuts. I need a weekend of normalcy for a bit. Eric and Cole can go wizard hunting this weekend”
I sigh again. There is also that. A wizard that hell-bent on ending our race. Amber and Eric run one of the biggest packs in California, and on top of that, they’re tracking down this wizard. So far he keeps slipping out of their hands. Even with the Son of Hades’s help and his mate Andrea.
“Sounds good. There is someone that I want you to meet. Her name is Christine. She is an Alpha female, but doesn’t see herself in that light due to how she was raised. She is the rightful Alpha to the Sunlight pack. I think that she could use your influence.”
“Well, becoming an Alpha when you haven't trained for it is hard. Just make her your beta”
My wolf Asher growled over the phone.
“Woah, Asher, down boy. I wasn’t suggesting replacing Jewel. She will become your Luna one day. Right?”
…….
“....are you and Jewel still not mated yet?”
“...I’ve been running a pack and to be honest, I don’t know what the hell to do. I told her that we could be friends”
“Friends???? How is your Alpha wolf taking that?’
“...not well”
“Well of course not. Friends, funny. Like we’re human, no you’re an Alpha from two Alpha bloodlines. I’m surprised your wolf has been this patient.”
“I’m surprised too. To be honest, she is so distant. I think my wolf is afraid, like I am, that she’ll reject us if we push her too hard.”
Amber sighs.
“Jewel is a hard one. She and Jake were perfect for each other and they knew it.”
“Thanks, just keep rubbing that in”
“I didn't mean it like that, but regardless, the Moon Goddess made both of you second chance mates for a reason. You’re going to be different from each other because that’s what an Alpha needs in a Luna. He needs someone who has different strengths than his.”
“True, any other advice? Oh, wise sister of mine?”
“Hmmm. Maybe just take things slow. Like really slow. Show her that you care in small ways and work your way up to date. If jumping into having another mate seems too scary for Jewel then maybe take some baby steps. Also, you need to be honest with her. The friends' thing won't work. You either have to reject each other or you have to try to make this work.”
Asher growled again, but this time at the mention of rejecting Jewel.
“Asher, I swear if you growl at me one more time, I will let Annabelle put you in your place when I come there.”
I laugh. I have no doubt that Amber would win that one. We might both be Alpha, but she comes from a line of lycan wolves. Who were the moon goddess's children.
“I’ll control him, I’d like to keep my pride and not have my pack watch me get my ass kicked.”
“I figured that, but yeah, take things slow and give up on the friends' idea. That is laughable at best. Bye”
“Got it. Bye Amber”
