Natalia’s POV
I went to the mansion and immediately I changed from my wedding dress and wore casual sweatpants with a sweater on top. I hurriedly shoved my clothes into a small bag and counted the little money I had. It wasn’t enough but it would do for the meantime.
“Natalia. Natalia. Are you in there?” It was Sarah, my handmaiden.
“Sarah. What are you doing here?” I asked her, confused. The mansion was meant to be empty since everyone was at the celebration.
“I’m so sorry for how things turned out. If no one will believe you, I believe you. I know your stepsister is capable of so many evil” sarah said
“I know but it doesn’t matter. No one believes me” I told her as tears tried to spill from my eyes remembering how I had been humiliated moments ago.
“This isn’t the time to cry. You need to hurry and leave. Alpha Zachary has sent guards to arrest you and they are searching for you. I’m here to help you escape, "Sarah said.
I couldn’t believe my ears. Why were they doing this to me? What had I done wrong?
“ how would we do that? The guards know my face well. They’d seize me the moment they sight me” I explained my worry to sarah.
“Don't be sorry. There’s a secret tunnel in the kitchen that’ll lead you outside. I found it months ago when I started working here. We should hurry before it’s too late”. Sarah urged me hurriedly.
I followed her hurriedly with my bag and thankfully we reached the tunnel without the guards finding me. Sarah was kind enough to lead me through the tunnel as she refused to go back till she was sure I was totally out of the mansion and safe.
“Thank you Sarah. I owe you for this” I told her the moment we reached the end that had led us outside. Now I could see the mansion but I wasn’t close to it. It had a bittersweet feeling to it. At least my baby and I were safe.
“It’s no problem Natalia. I’ll miss you. I can’t believe now I’ll have to be serving that witch Diana. Please do take care of yourself and for no reason should you return here. Please” Sarah begged as I hugged her.
Immediately Sarah left I decided to look for a hotel to stay in. I couldn’t risk not being found by the guards on the streets and I needed rest too. Regardless of what I was going through, my baby was my priority.
Night time came and I was really hungry. I had decided to take a little nap but ended up sleeping till late. I had not had anything to eat since the last food I ate in the morning. I willed myself not to cry more as I recalled all that had happened earlier. Tonight was meant to be my wedding night but here I was in a cheap motel.
Tired of feeling sorry for myself I tried calling the receptionist with the telephone only room but it wasn’t working so I walked to the receptionist of the motel to get something to eat.
“Excuse me please. I’d like to order some food. Is the kitchen still open?” I asked the receptionist whose name tag read Maureen. She was chubby and chewed gum loudly.
“It’s late. I’m sorry you’ll be eating in the morning” Maureen replied as she went back to operating her phone.
“But I-” I tried to complain but a strange man interrupted me.
“You should come with me. I can help you if you’ll let me” he told me. I looked at him strangely and ignored him.
“Natalia, please trust me. Let me help….” He paused his words halfway and sniffled. “Are you pregnant?” This strange man asked me. My hands instinctively flew to my tummy to protect my baby.
“How did you—?” I trailed off, surprised at how he had figured I was pregnant. Nobody had been able to figure that out and this strange man was able to tell in just minutes of meeting me.
“You’re carrying my pups, You have to come with me” he said.
“What do you mean? I don’t know you. Who are you?” I was confused with what he just said.
“This isn’t the place to have this discussion. If you’ll go with me and I’ll tell you all you need to know” he assured me.
I wasn’t scared of him, which was strange. In fact I felt more secure with him and took my bag with me as I followed him.
“Where are we going?” I asked him.
“My pack house.” He replied coldly.
“I do not even know who you are” I said, and his words cut me short when I tried to continue my lament.
“I’m Alpha Jamie and you are my mate and those pups in you are mine” He explained to me briefly.
My eyes widened at this revelation. I had no wolf so it was only normal for me not to sense the mate bond though I felt warmth from him and safe with him. He must’ve sniffed me out to be his mate but what did he mean by his pups were in me? What did this mean for me? I was sure I had not been touched by anyone except— what was the moon goddess punishing me for now?
We got to his pack house and he took me into his room. I was so afraid, what did I think of when I followed a strange man over to his house?
“You can stay here after all it’s your room by right. Don’t worry, I won’t be staying here with you till you’re more comfortable to accept me. I’ve alerted the maids to bring something for you to eat. You must be hungry” Alpha Jamie said and truly I was hungry.
“I’ll eat when you explain what you meant earlier. What did you mean by your pups being in me?” I questioned him and he sighed looking at me.
“Who do you think owns that pregnancy?” Jamie answered my question with a question.
“Don’t you know it’s mine?” He continued which left me more confused.
