The first half of the week was rather lack luster, which after this weekend, I was thankful for. I did love that Liam would find me in between classes to steal a kiss. April was going nuts and needed me to give up all the details the second we had a free moment.
I wasn’t exactly sure if I should be saying anything about the whole werewolf thing, so I left that part out. Either way, she’s over the moon seeing Liam and I together.
Mr. Weir, our British literature teacher, cleared his throat at us for the third time. He was clearly not pleased with us having our side conversation. We weren’t the only ones not working on the assignment. It was hard to get anyone to concentrate on the last day before fall break. I drop my head back into my notebook, making it look as though I’m scribbling away at the assignment.
April then went on to tell me how her and Garrett had been talking pretty much all weekend. She was finally starting to make a move with that crush of hers. Garrett is really good friends with Liam, I can’t help but wonder if he’s a werewolf as well. I don’t think I can look at anyone without questioning if they’re one or not.
“So, what’s the plan for your birthday?” Her question was in no way meant to feel loaded, but little did she know, this birthday could change my life forever. Would I be a werewolf like my dad or would I stay human like my mom? I would know by midnight tonight.
“I’m not really sure.” I answered honestly. Ever since I had found out about werewolfs being really I haven’t been able to think of much else.
April gave me a devious smile, letting me know she had already come up with something. “I know exactly what we’re doing for your birthday.” She looked so pleased with herself. I just smirked at her.
“Would you like to share your great idea?” I practically giggled at her. A is always good about keeping me on my toes.
“Nope. You’re just going to have to wait and see.” I could tell that if we weren’t sitting in the middle of Brit lit that she would probably be clapping her hands with excitement.
“We’re going to go to my house right after school so we can get ready.” I gave her a questioning look, but just nodded my head with a smile on my smile. If you can’t beat her, you might as well join her.
The final bell of the day rang, causing everyone to bolt for the front doors. I had grabbed up my books and headed for my locker. Luckily, none of my teachers decided to give any assignments while over fall break.
I heard the footsteps of someone walking up behind me. I had thought that it was Liam since he has been making sure to find me throughout the school days as much as he can. I turned closing my locker door with a smile on my face, but quickly dropped it when I turned to see Rachel.
Oh, great. I’ve been doing really well with avoiding her this whole week and was hoping to get out of here with an encounter.
“Hey, b***h!” She slammed her fist into the locker right next to my head. She practically growled at me. Safe to say i could tell that she was a werewolf. “Don’t think you’re going to get away with this.”
“Get away with what?” I was almost positive that she was talking about Liam, but I wanted to hear her say it.
“Don’t act stupid. If you think I’m going to let you take Liam away from me, you have another thing come. You’ll be sorry.” Her eyes bore into mine. She was completely serious.
“Liam has made his choice. Get over it.” My eyes met her’s with as equal intensity.
With a huff she flipped her platinum blonde hair back into my face as she turned on her heels and walked down the hall away from me. I knew that Rachel was upset that Liam had broken up with her but I never thought that she would feel the need to take it out on me.
Should I tell Liam that she threatened me? He would probably think that I was overreacting to what she had said. Either way, I was going to let her ruin my evening. A was waiting for me.
I walked out the front door to be engulfed in Liam muscular arms wrapping around me.
“There you are.” He gave me his million dollar smile. I felt my heart skip a beat as he leaned in to have his lips meet mine. I hope I never get used to that feeling. He pulled away and I pouted that I no longer had his lips on mine.
“Do you want to go to dinner with me tonight?” He asked so sweetly.
“I really wish that I could, but A has something planned for us tonight.” I responded.
He had a look on his face that clearly showed he wasn’t happy with that idea. The last time I went along with A’s idea he found me wasted. I cannot say that I don’t understand his unease.
“Do you know what you girls will be up to?” He asked cautiously.
“No, she said that it was going to be a surprise.” With my response, he pulled me closer into his body. His hard muscles felt as strong as concrete, yet I felt nothing but comfortable.
“I hope you two have fun and stay out of trouble.” He said while raising an eyebrow. I laughed, knowing that trouble was pretty much April’s middle name. He shook his head and gave me another kiss.
I pulled up in front of A’s house and made my way inside to get ready for whatever her crazy idea is.
April stood at the top of her stairs dressed in the craziest sequin outfit I’ve ever seen, even for her. It took every fiber of my being to not bust out laughing as hard as I could.
“Let’s get you ready,” She yells, jumping out of her skin. “We’re going into the city and going clubbing!”
“Woohoo!” I could no longer hold back the laughter and it filled the whole house. Tonight was going to be a blast. I love having April as my best friend, she knows how much I love to dance and that it was the perfect thing to do to celebrate my birthday.
I ran up the stairs to finish up getting ready with her and getting out crazy clubbing outfits put together. A few hours later, we walked out the door dressed looking like a cross between s*x In The City and a Britney Spears music video. It was perfect.
We decided to take a cab into the city to make the evening easier. Coming over the bridge, my eyes were instantly filled with the dazzling twinkle of the lights. I have a heart that loves both the city and the forest.
We pulled up in front of the club, where there was a line that stretched completely around the building. We walked up to the bouncer, who immediately opened the red velvet rope to let us in. It elicited some groans from the people that were waiting to get in. I guess it helps that April’s dad handles the money for the club and we can get in whenever we want.
April looked back at me and gave a wicked smile. I knew it was about to be a night to remember.
