Astron headed briskly down the main street of Saurahall to the Palace. The guards standing watch saluted as he passed through and crossed the lawn beyond. He met a soldier at the door who led him inside and ushered him into the king’s presence. King Henrik was in the Royal Antechamber next to the Throne Room on the third floor, along with Captain Humphreys, Alfred, and a sorry-looking Saltrak with no weapons. This one was an Alvarosaurus, and Astron could tell he was a chieftain by the tooth necklace he wore. How had they managed to capture him? But before he could ask, the king turned to him.
“Ah, Astron you’re here! Very good. Where is Robert?”
“He took my place on watch, sire.”
“No matter. Astron, I would like you to meet Chieftain Carl of the Saltrak.”
