Chapter 5: The Truth Unveiled

2040 Words
5 Louis wanted to tell Nikolas, he really did, but something inside of him told him that only bad things would happen if he let out his biggest secret, so he decided to follow his instincts and keep mum about the issue. Instead, he decided to make something up. “I-I had an a-argument with my older brother,” Louis told Nikolas, who seemed like he didn’t quite believe Louis, but didn’t comment on it.  “Alright then. Well, would you mind giving me a tour of your village? It is quite beautiful but I’m afraid I haven’t had enough time to look around,” Nikolas decided to change the topic when he felt how tense Louis was in his arms. The Omega peered up at him and immediately relaxed, nodding enthusiastically with a wide grin. “Ok! There are some really beautiful places around here so get ready!” Louis said as he got off of Nikolas. The Alpha immediately missed having Louis’ small body in his arms, while the Omega missed the warmth and security but for the time being, they decided to ignore it. “Alright. I’m going to go wake Adrian up and introduce you two to each other. He loves meeting new people,” Nikolas told Louis, who was now sitting on the couch and walked off into one of the rooms. Louis heard Nikolas speaking in Russian and a few minutes later, he emerged with another man. This man was a bit shorter than Nikolas but he was still much taller than Louis and although he was an Omega, he looked more like a Beta.  “Adrian this is Louis. He’s my True Mate,” Nikolas told him Adrian in English and the previously tired and sleepy-looking male was now fully awake, staring at the Alpha with wide eyes. Louis giggled at Adrian’s reaction. His eyes looked like those of a surprised owl’s. “W-What?” Adrian stuttered, thankfully in a language Louis knew. He looked back and forth between Nikolas and Louis. Louis gave him a shy smile with blush and everything and it seemed to pull Adrian out of his confused daze. “Aww! You’re so cute! Look, Niki! He blushed!” Suddenly, it was as if they weren’t strangers who were just introduced. Adrian ran to Louis’ side, pulling him into a big hug unconsciously releasing excited and happy pheromones which calmed Louis down. “Of course he’s blushing. He’s embarrassed by your shameless actions. Now get off my mate and go put on some clothes for god’s sake,” Nikolas almost growled, walking over to where the two Omegas were and pulling Louis from Adrian’s grip. The older Omega whined at the loss of a friend but Louis didn’t mind as much, instead, cuddling closer to Nikolas’ chest. He looked over at Adrian and blushed heavily when he finally realized that the Russian Omega was only dressed in boxers.  ‘So that’s Nikolas meant by shameless actions,’ Louis thought, hiding his face in Nikolas’ shirt, making the Alpha chuckle. “Sorry about him. He tends to sleep naked and always forgets that when he wakes up,” Nikolas apologized on Adrian’s behalf, prompting the other Omega to yell at him in Russian from his room where he was changing. “That’s ok. He doesn’t really look like an Omega though,” Louis mumbled and Nikolas chuckled, the sound causing his chest to vibrate, which in turn made Louis vibrate.  “Yes, he doesn’t. He likes to work out a lot and his parents are both Alphas so even though he’s an Omega, his body is a bit more muscular than others,” Nikolas explained, slipping his arms around Louis’ waist and gently swaying them side to side.  “So tell me a bit about yourself, solnyshko,” Nikolas told the Omega who hummed, trying to think of interesting facts about himself. He settled for telling the basics. “Um, well, I’m 19 and I finished high school last year. Uh, my name Louis means ‘famous warrior’ which is kind of stupid because I hate violence. I like soft colours, I have 3 siblings, two of whom are twins, and um, my favourite place to go when I’m sad is the lavender field a few minutes away from here,” Nikolas looked genuinely interested and that made Louis blush. No one had ever paid attention to him let alone his likes and dislikes so this was something new for him, not that he didn’t like it. He loved it. “Tell me about you now,” Louis told the Alpha and Nikolas chuckled. “Well if we’re talking about name meanings, then my name means “victory of the people” and I’m 24. I have no idea how you don’t recognize me but it’s quite refreshing and I like all colours, except those nasty looking greens and yellows,” Nikolas grimaced as he thought of those colours. Louis frowned and looked up at Nikolas. “What do you mean by recognizing you?” “Solnyshko, have you ever heard of ‘Krasota’?” Nikolas asked and Louis paused, thinking of the name that sounded quite familiar. A moment passed and Louis finally remembered where he had seen that name. “The film company? Like the one that made ‘my love, Maria’ and ‘Chasing Flinn’?” Nikolas chuckled and nodded. Those two were some of the most popular movies that his company had ever produced and a strange sense of pride filled his chest when his mate had said their names so excitedly. “Yes, that one. I’m the founder and CEO of the company,” Nikolas told Louis who looked at him in shock. Immediately the Omega pushed himself away from the comfortable embrace of his mate and started apologizing profusely. “I’m so sorry! I didn’t recognize you and I’ve been so rude and I-” Louis’ rambling was cut off when Nikolas pulled him back into a hug, chuckling at his beloved’s response to the revelation. “That’s quite alright, solnyshko. You genuinely didn’t know and besides, you’re my mate. I don’t care how you act around me. As long as you’re happy, I’m happy,” Nikolas mumbled, burying his face into Louis’ hair.  “Aww Kolya, I didn’t know you could be so sweet,” the two mates immediately separated when they heard Adrian’s voice. Nikolas turned to glare at his best friend, who was leaning against his room’s door frame with a smug grin. “How long have you been standing there and watching us?” Nikolas rolled his eyes, ignoring his best friend’s cheeky remark. “Long enough to know that Louis’ name means ‘famous warrior’,” Adrian gave the two a mischievous grin. He winked at Louis, who blushed and slowly walked back towards Nikolas, hiding behind the Alpha’s broad frame. “You’re so irritating, Drivya,” Nikolas mumbled, taking Louis’ hand that was gently clutching onto his shirt. Adrian just shrugged as he skipped over to Louis’ side. “So Louis, tell me something else about yourself. Something interesting,” Adrian threw his arm over the younger Omega’s shoulder, successfully prying him away from Nikolas, who gave him an irritated look. “U-Uh…” “He’s from the Beaux family,” Nikolas interrupted and when Adrian gave him a look of disbelief, he frowned.  Why was it always his family that was more interesting than him? “Wow, really?! The wines your family produces are quite lovely and that’s saying something because I’ve drunk more wine in my life than people drink water,”  Nikolas rolled his eyes, smiling slightly at his friend’s exaggeration but when his eyes landed on his mate, who was now quiet, his smile disappeared. “Louis, are you ok?” Nikolas asked and the Omega looked up with a sad smile, nodding. “I-I’m fine. Now, let’s go explore before it gets dark,” The small male gently pushed the other two out the door, completely missing the concerned look in Nikolas’ eyes. --- “Wow! This is beautiful!” The lavender field was the last stop in their little tour and to say that Adrian loved it was an understatement. The foreign Omega was absolutely in love with the field of flowers, running between the rows and rows of lavender. “Ah, this is why you have that lavender scent to you,” Nikolas gave Louis a heart-melting smile and Louis smiled back, though it seemed a bit forced. While Adrian was busy exploring the field of flowers, Nikolas gently pulled Louise towards where he was standing. “Louis, solnyshko, tell me what’s wrong. I know you didn’t fight with your siblings. Your smile is sadder and when I first met you, your eyes were so red. It breaks my heart, lyublyu,” Nikolas mumbled, pulling the small male into his embrace.  Louis bit his lip, choosing to stay silent. He had no idea what solnyshko and lyublyu meant but at that moment, he didn’t care. All he cared about was the fact that his instincts were screaming at him to tell Nikolas about his fight with his father but his conscience was telling him to keep quiet and pretend it never happened. “Louise?” The brunette snapped out of his mental disagreement and looked up at the Alpha and without warning, his eyes teared up once again. It seemed that his body had not split enough tears to go dry just yet, so now the waterworks started once again. “Hey, hey, what’s wrong? I’m sorry. You don’t have to tell me. I just thought that it’d be better to get it off your chest rather than keep it bottled in,” Nikolas rambled and Louis let out a choked sob as he tried to laugh at his mate’s adorable behaviour.  “I-I had an argument with my father a-and he called me a lot of n-names. What hurt the m-most was that he insulted y-you too!” Louis suddenly burst out, unable to keep in any more.  “Why did you argue, lyublyu?” “H-He doesn’t like O-Omegas and…” Louis sniffled, burying his face in his new favourite spot: his Alpha’s chest. He wondered if he should tell Nikolas about how much he had to suffer at the hands of his family. “And what, angel?” “I’m the runt of the family so I get mistreated a lot. My parents usually forget that I even exist and when they do r-remember, t-they insult me. They say so many mean things, Nikolas! It hurts me but they don’t care!” Nikolas’ heart cracked more than it already had.  How dare that family hurt such a small, innocent angel?! What infuriated him the most, though, was how broken Louis was but how happy he tried to look. He seemed as if he didn’t want to bother anyone with his problems but he failed to see how he hurt himself instead.  “I’m sorry, love. You don’t deserve that kind of treatment. No one does. They just don’t see what they’re missing out on. Besides, they can insult me as much as they want, I won’t care, but if they insult you anymore, I’ll get really upset,” Nikolas told Louis, who, by now, was sniffling.  “I’m sorry for being so weak,” he whimpered and Nikolas did a double-take. “Weak? Excuse me. Have you seen yourself? Lyublyu, you’re so strong. All those years of torment and pain, yet you’re still as selfless and kind-hearted as anyone can be,” Nikolas told his mate proudly and Louis couldn’t help but crack a small smile at his mate’s comforting words. “R-Really?” “Absolutely!” “T-Thank you. No one’s ever complimented me before,” Louis mumbled, shyly hiding his face from Nikolas. The blonde grinned in pride, though his heart ached at Louis’ words.  “Are you going to go home? You sounded like you had a pretty big fight with your father,” Nikolas reminded Louis who scrunched his nose and shook his head. “No. I was planning on staying here until he cooled down enough to not kill me,” Louise muttered and Nikolas frowned.  “Well, I sure as heck am not letting you stay here all by yourself. It’s going to get cold during the night and I don’t want my solnyshko to get sick. Especially not when I can do something about it,” Nikolas huffed and Louis cracked another small smile. “Then what do you suggest I do?” “Come stay at the hotel with me. Adrian sure as hell wouldn’t mind. He’ll probably end up babying you instead and I can keep an eye on you to make sure no harm comes to you,” Nikolas offered and Louis looked at him wide-eyed.  It was at that moment that his body decided that it had had enough drama for a day, because the poor Omega’s eyes rolled back into his head as he collapsed, the world going dark around him. The last thing he heard and felt was a desperate call of him and the warmth radiating off of Nikolas’ chest as darkness consumed him. What an eventful day. --- Lyublyu: love
