Revenge plan!

Amanda POV I looked at him, wondering what he actually wanted to talk about. My body ached for rest, and all I wanted was to put my head down for even a few seconds of sleep. My heart was pounding as though it had taken on a life of its own, spinning and fluttering with a force I could barely control. My mind felt heavy, weighed down by everything that had happened in the past few days the betrayal, the loss, the exhaustion. But I knew I couldn’t just lie there. Not yet. I had to see this through, to find out what he wanted to say. Hesitantly, I glanced at Gabriel. His usually calm, handsome face was gone, replaced by something I didn’t recognize something I couldn’t immediately identify. Fear, anxiety, or perhaps something else entirely flickered across his features. It made me uneasy, and yet strangely curious. “Okay… I’m ready to listen,” I said, my voice betraying the slightest tremor. Deep down, I was nervous. What if he dismissed me, or worse, told me to leave? I was tired so damn tired, but I couldn’t let that stop me from knowing the truth. “Yes,” he said, his voice low and hesitant. “I want to talk to you about something… very important.” There was a nervous edge to his words, one that only heightened my curiosity. “Go on,” I replied, trying to sound calm, though my mind was racing. He took a deep breath, as if gathering the courage to say what needed to be said. “I now know that my ex-wife is with your ex-husband.” The words struck me like a thunderclap. My heart skipped a beat, and I felt a strange mix of shock, disbelief, and anger. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. My ex-husband? My daughter? And now… his ex-wife? The pieces of my life, already shattered, seemed to twist even further into chaos. I sat quietly, waiting for him to continue, my mind spinning. How had everything gone so wrong? I had sacrificed so much, endured so much suffering while working abroad, all for the hope of being reunited with my daughter. And now, both of the people I had loved most- the people who had once meant everything to me were entwined in ways I couldn’t even begin to comprehend. “Okay… I think we both know that,” I said finally, trying to steady myself. But even as I spoke, a knot of curiosity tightened in my chest. I needed answers, even if they were ones I wasn’t prepared to hear. Gabriel hesitated, his hands fidgeting slightly as he struggled to find the words. “I know this might sound… crazy, but there’s nothing more I can do alone. If you don’t want to be involved, I’ll… I’ll handle it myself.” His seriousness sent a chill down my spine. “Just tell me,” I said firmly, my curiosity overcoming my fatigue. “I need to know. Please.” He exhaled slowly, his eyes locking with mine. “Alright. Since we are in the same situation, I think it only makes sense that we use this… strategically.” I frowned, unsure of what he meant. Strategically? What did he have in mind? I decided to remain silent for the moment, to let him explain fully. “I want us to team up,” he continued, finally letting the words out. “I want us to take revenge on those two on your ex-husband and my ex-wife-for what they’ve done to us.” I froze. Revenge? The word hung in the air, heavy and sharp, like a blade poised over my head. My mind raced. Did he mean what I thought he meant? Was I supposed to be a part of this? Could I even do it? Revenge always seemed… dangerous. It could consume a person, turn them into someone they weren’t. But then, my thoughts turned to Justin. All he had done-the betrayal, the loss of my daughter, the heartbreak-I couldn’t just let it go. Not when he had taken the one person who meant everything to me. Not when he had destroyed a part of my life that I could never replace. I clenched my fists, my anger rising. Yes. I would do this. I would show him what it felt like to lose everything. I would make him understand, in a way he never could forget, the pain he had caused. “Yes,” I said firmly, my voice steady despite the storm of emotions inside me. “I’ll do it. I’ll be your partner.” Gabriel’s face broke into a small, approving smile. Relief and satisfaction softened his usually sharp features. He extended his hand toward me. “Then we are officially partners,” he said, his voice calm now, carrying a weight of promise and determination. I shook his hand, noting the surprising softness of his skin. There was a warmth in his touch that belied his hardened exterior. I wanted to laugh, to release the tension that had been building in me for days, but I held it in. I needed to focus, to prepare myself for what lay ahead. Still, I couldn’t help but think about the irony of the situation. Here was a man with wealth, power, and influence everything one could ever want, yet he was alone. And here I was, tired, broken, and desperate, yet still somehow standing. Together, perhaps we were stronger than we had realized. For the first time in days, I felt a flicker of something I hadn’t felt in a long time: hope. Maybe not happiness, not yet, but hope. The thought alone made me feel lighter, even as the weight of the mission ahead settled on my shoulders. Gabriel studied me for a moment, his gaze intense yet reassuring. “We need to plan carefully. They won’t expect this from us, and that is exactly why we can succeed. But first… rest. You need to be ready.” I nodded, understanding the gravity of what he was saying. My exhaustion hadn’t disappeared, but my resolve had solidified. I had fought too hard, lost too much, and endured too many sleepless nights to back down now. “Yes,” I whispered, almost to myself. “We will do this… together.” Gabriel smiled again, a rare softness in his eyes. “Exactly. Together.” I took a deep breath, letting the reality of the situation sink in. For so long, I had felt powerless, alone, and betrayed. Now, I had someone by my side—a partner who understood the pain, the anger, and the determination. Someone who could help me fight back. And in that moment, I realized something important: I was no longer just Amanda, the woman who had lost everything. I was Amanda, the woman who would rise from the ashes of betrayal and take back what was hers. For the first time in what felt like an eternity, I felt a sense of purpose. The road ahead would be difficult, dangerous, and fraught with uncertainty. But I would face it head-on, fueled by anger, determination, and the hope that one day, justice-true justice-would be mine. As I sat there, contemplating the journey ahead, I felt a strange sense of camaraderie with Gabriel. We were two broken souls, bound by betrayal and injustice, yet together we were stronger than ever. Together, we could confront the past, exact revenge, and reclaim the pieces of our lives that had been stolen from us. And maybe… just maybe… in the process, we would find something else: trust, understanding, and perhaps even the faintest glimmer of happiness. For now, though, all that mattered was the mission. The rest -feelings, emotions, and doubts could wait. Right now, we were partners, and nothing would stand in our way.
