Amanda POV
I was puzzled. It had been about ten minutes, but still Justin had not dared to come out. At this moment, I felt like I was at the end of the world-unable to get anything I needed, and with no one caring about how I felt. A moment when I had no free will to do anything according to my wish.
“Justin, please, at least give me a hint of where those people who adopted my daughter could be.” It was the same plea I had made for the last couple of minutes, but all this time, nothing changed.
What was I going to do now with everything that was happening? It felt like I was going back to all the problems I used to face while working abroad. But during all that time, I had hope, since I knew I had two people I was looking forward to seeing all this time.
I cried until I felt my eyes black out.
“Wake up,” I heard someone ask me. This brought me back to reality. I quickly sat up, and that’s when I realized I was sleeping in a very soft bed. I quickly looked around and realized fully that I was in a bedroom.
Wait-who was the person who spoke?
I turned around and realized it was the same man from before. He was flashing that same serious face he had shown earlier that morning.
Wait, how did I get here? The last thing I recalled was being at my former house, pleading with my husband to at least help me and tell me where my baby was.
Gabriel POV
I stared at the woman as she looked around, feeling so strange, maybe because she was in a place she had not been in when she had fainted.
I was the happiest man when I found out my wife was pregnant. I had long wanted a baby, but the moment I realized the child I loved so much was not mine-you cannot even imagine how I felt.
This meant that my wife had, for many men, cheated on me. I had loved Natalia with all my heart but never knew she could go so far as to cheat on me and even have a baby with another man.
I made sure she had everything so she did not lack anything, but I will never forget the day I confronted her after the DNA test.
That shameless woman did not deny anything and made it clear that she had never been in love with me. The only thing she wanted was my money. Guess what-she had even somehow made me sign the divorce papers. A man in love and with a family.I ended up all alone.
So, seeing this woman going through what she was, I was not going to sit back. From her actions, it was clear she did not know the kind of people she was dealing with.
I was sure they were heartless, caring only about getting what they wanted without regard for anyone else’s feelings.
I was not going to let them get away just like that. I had to do something, and this woman was actually the best partner I needed. That is how I managed to get her back without her even knowing that I had someone following her.
“You!” she yelled the moment she looked in my direction, where I was sitting next to the bed she was sleeping on.
“Me,” I replied, trying to joke around so she could feel comfortable and stop panicking.
“How did I get here?” she asked, trying to get off the bed, but she was too weak to stand.
“You don’t need to stand. You are weak,” I warned her, and she obeyed, staying on the bed.
“You need to eat,” I said in a commanding tone, knowing she would protest if I did not act firmly. I rose and set the tray of food on her lap. She opened her mouth to say something but stopped herself.
She immediately started eating. The manner in which she ate showed how hungry she was; she ate eagerly.
I just sat back and watched her. All I did was watch her eat silently, planning to tell her the plan I had. She ate every last bit of food.
“I was really starving,” she commented, trying to get up, but I was right there in time and took the tray from her hands, placing it on the table to prevent her from standing.
At this point, I calmed down and returned to the seat I had been sitting on. I knew this was the right moment for what I had wanted all along.
“How are you feeling now? You should stop crying all the time,” I said, looking into her eyes.
“Anyway, I have something I want to talk to you about,” I added, feeling a bit nervous, wondering what would happen if she refused what I was about to suggest. She gave me her full attention.
