Amanda POV
I did not want to believe what he was saying, as I could not accept any of it as true. Maybe it was all a skit they were playing on me. And it would end soon.
“That is enough joking. Just tell me where our daughter is,” I insisted, still assuming this was nothing more than a cruel game the two of them were playing.
The lady holding the baby in her arms stepped closer to me, an evil smirk written all over her face. When she was only a few inches away, she stopped and looked me over from head to toe.
It didn’t take a critical thinker to understand that the look she was giving me was one of pure disgust.
“Don’t ask my fiancé such disgusting questions. The only baby he knows is this baby boy in my arms-nothing else,” she said in a high-pitched voice.
Everything was becoming more complicated by the second. First, I was told she was a lover. Now there was a baby. And on top of that, this strange woman was claiming to be my husband’s fiancée.
Dumbfounded and completely confused by everything I was seeing, I turned to my husband.
He was leaning casually against the black Range Rover, sunglasses on, completely unbothered by the nonsense this woman was spilling-words I could barely understand.
He was the one who needed to explain everything to me.
“Justin, what is this woman saying, and who the hell is she? And why won’t you say anything about Sam? You are confusing me.
I am f*****g tired of all these games,” I yelled, loud enough that a few passersby turned to look. Thankfully, they didn’t linger long before going on their way.
My husband pushed himself off the car and walked toward us. When he reached the woman holding the baby, he wrapped his arm around her waist and pulled her closer.
“Don’t call her a stranger or any other name. She is Natalia. And yes, she is my fiancée. We are getting married soon. That is why I brought her here-so we can officially divorce, and then I can marry the woman of my life.”
If you have never experienced something like this, you could never imagine how I felt at that moment.
I stared at my husband, wondering how everything had turned out this way. Yes, I had been away for five years, but I left to work.
I left when we were deeply in love. We had a baby girl, the symbol of that love.
He was the one whose account I sent all my earnings to. I worked tirelessly, earning a thousand dollars through sheer effort. Now, I could not believe a single word coming out of his mouth.
“What are you talking about? We are married. We have a daughter together. Don’t forget—you are the one who received all the money I worked so hard to earn,” I said, tears streaming down my face.
“Hahahaha! Look at this little i***t,” he laughed loudly. “I manipulated you into marrying me, and I got exactly what I wanted. I made you give birth to a daughter, sold her to a rich couple for adoption, and you fell for it. Then you went abroad and worked for me. This is hilarious.”
I didn’t want to believe his words, but what choice did I have? Everything pointed to this horrible truth. I remembered how rushed our marriage had been, how quickly I had become pregnant.
I hadn’t known it was all part of his plan.
“Stop crying. Let’s go inside. I want the papers signed so I can move into the apartment I bought with the last bit of money you sent,” he said heartlessly before turning toward the stairs.
I had no choice but to follow.
My head was spinning. What was I hearing? It felt like my body had been taken over by someone else. What hurt me most was that my baby girl was nowhere to be seen.
Suddenly, an idea struck me.
I rushed past them into the hall and headed straight inside. I had to speak to the judge in charge-maybe he could help me.
I stormed into the office, where a man was busy reading something on his laptop.
“Please help me. My husband sold our daughter, took my money, and now wants to divorce me. I need help,” I cried. If I could just get my daughter back, maybe I could start a new life.
The judge looked at me, completely uninterested. Just then, the door opened, revealing Justin and his lover.
“I think she’s the one,” the judge said to them, as if he hadn’t heard a word I said.
Before I could process what was happening, two men dressed like doctors entered.
“Take her. She is mad,” the judge ordered.
That was when I realized it was all a trap.
They wanted to declare me insane so they could do whatever they pleased. They had done it deliberately.
I tried to resist, screaming that I wasn’t mad, but none of them cared. The two men dragged me away despite my struggle. They were far stronger than I was.
Maybe this had all been planned from the very beginning.
