Gabriel POV
I had been sitting in my car for nearly two hours now. I was determined to do even more just to see who the hell the man was that Natalia had chosen over me.
Up to this point, I had never thought I could fall so madly in love the way I did with Natalia.
I fell hopelessly in love with her and could not imagine my life without her. Everyone knows me as a no‑nonsense person when it comes to business, but I had a soft spot for Natalia. She knew how to tame me and get anything she wanted from me whenever she wanted.
But last week, she made it clear to me that the baby I loved so much was not mine.
Wait.
Just then, I saw a woman being dragged out of the courthouse.
Where was she being taken? I wondered, since she was clearly being taken against her will.
I knew I was supposed to mind my own business, but this was not the first time I had seen this woman. Every time I saw her, she looked desperate. I was already in a sorrowful state, but this woman seemed far more desperate than I ever was.
The way those gigantic men were harassing her was not something I wanted to witness. I opened my car door, ready to get out,but then I reminded myself that I had my own problems to deal with. I needed to mind my own business.
“Please leave me alone!”
“You don’t have to listen to them.”
“I am not crazy at all.”
“I just returned from work only to find my husband has a lover.”
“Please, I need to find my daughter, Sam. It has been five years since I last saw her, and now my husband only wants a divorce from me.”
I listened attentively as the desperate woman struggled to break free from the men’s grip. It was clear they were determined to complete whatever task they had been assigned.
As I processed everything, it suddenly hit me—she was the wife of the man Natalia had been cheating on me with.
She was living the same nightmare I was.
With that realization, I stepped out of my car and walked toward the men, stopping a short distance away.
“Let the woman go,” I said huskily.
The men froze and turned toward me, clearly surprised that someone had intervened.
“Who are you?” the one who seemed to be their leader said. “Mind your business, or we’ll show you how to.”
I wasn’t fazed in the slightest. I had faced far worse.
“I said let the woman go. She has told you her problem-she is looking for her daughter and all you’re doing is dragging her away,” I replied calmly.
“Who are you to order us? Do you even know who we are?” the other man snapped.
“Yes, I know you very well,” I answered.
“Who are we?” he demanded.
I hesitated, my gaze shifting to the terrified woman. Her tired blue eyes locked onto mine. Her red lips were impossible to miss, and her curled hair fell loosely down her back, uncombed. She was beautiful,but exhausted, worn down by pain.
I wasn’t going to let these men harm her.
“I am the man who will beat the hell out of both of you if you don’t let her go,” I said quietly,but I meant every word.
They laughed together and turned back to her.
That was when I lost all patience.
In a split second, I punched one man, sending him crashing to the ground. A flying kick followed, knocking the other down just as hard.
I didn’t give him a chance to stand-I struck again. Within minutes, both men lay sprawled on the ground, unable to move.
I was shaking with rage. All I wanted was to keep hitting them until they never stood again. My thoughts drifted to Natalia-her betrayal fueling my anger even more. I knelt, ready to continue.
“Please… don’t.”
The voice stopped me cold.
It was the softest, sweetest voice I had ever heard. It was clear she was desperately in need.
I turned and found those same blue eyes staring into mine. She looked even weaker now, barely standing. She tried to stay upright—but failed.
I rushed forward just in time to catch her as she collapsed into my arms.
She looked up at me, a faint smile touching her lips before her eyes closed and she fainted.
I stared down at her face.
This woman was carrying more pain than anyone should have to bear.
What the hell! She was hurt really.
