A Hero's Journey

Chapter 5

    I couldn’t help but worry on the way to the warehouse. What if they did something to Makaylah and they're only letting her go because they got bored with her or something. None of this wouldn’t have happened if I would have just kept my mouth shut. 

“You got this sis chill,” I look over at Aaron “I love you” 

“I love you too.” 

I have people that love and care about me so much. People who support me through almost anything. I know that no matter what now I can safe Makaylah. 

As we began to approach the warehouse, we saw all the guards and cars outside the warehouse. We wanted to be discrete, so we parked the car on the street opposite the warehouse. We got out of the car and made our way the to the warehouse. As we approached the man door there were two guards outside. I gave them a small nod and it looks as though they gave me a nod or bow back? I honestly don’t know. Good we may actually get away with this I thought, but then I instantly regretted it because as soon as I was about to enter through the door one of the guards pulled me back. 

“He’s been waiting for you. About time you showed up,” he said looking me in the eyes. 

“It might have been easier if he didn’t send me on some wild chase,” he smirked at that 

“Wow, you can get into some serious trouble with that mouth of yours, little one.”  

“Nothing I haven't heard before. Now tell me are we allowed to go in.” He gave a short nod. 

As soon as we walk into the warehouse four different guys, probably their best fighters came at us. Aaron took to of then and I took the other two. It didn’t take us long to take them down. I had forgotten that mom had trained Aaron and I both, uncle Jimmy must have had his brush up to. After we took down the fighters, I saw a sniper in the corner of my vision. I hurried up and pushed Aaron out of the way as the sniper began to shoot. The person behind the sniper was fast but I was faster. We didn’t get hit and they soon ran out of bullets. Everyone else that was there looked so shocked they couldn’t do anything they just froze. Then I heard a voice that sent shivers down my back. 

“Impressive. You guys are truly your mother's children. Mhmm, I wonder if little Jennifer is the same as her big bad siblings.” he said with a wicked smile. 

“Leave Jennifer out of this you monster,” Aaron yelled at the man I truly hate. 

“So aggressive maybe you should take over for your uncle.” 

“Come on James, stop with the games and give us Makaylah” I say getting irritated at the man in front of me. 

James Red, the son of the Don who was banished 26 years ago. We all heard stories about how a few years after he was banished, he had a child and named him James. I didn’t think it was true but unfortunately, I met him a few years back, he’s what 23 I think. He was about 5 when I was born. When I met him, he tricked me, I thought he was just another person passing through, but no. He had just lost his father and took over. Before people could show up and tell him to leave or kill him, he said ‘that no matter what I will make your life a living hell’. I was 9 he was 14 or 15 at the time. I was so scared, but I didn’t let it show. I let my guard down because my mom had just died, my dad was a mess and Jennifer was only 6 so I had to help everyone. My dad started dating 2 years later and a year after that he re-married, so I just kept it in. I let him get to me. But why after 8 years show back up now.
