“No!” I screamed, and with that, I moved with speed, slamming him to the wall, which made him pass out, as I could somehow still hear his heartbeat. In a matter of minutes, I did something stupid. I arranged the crime scene to make it look like he did it - to make it look like Casper killed Gabrielle - before stumbling my way out through the window as my transformation became complete with only one thing on my mind - You’re cursed, Anna, you’re so cursed, I thought as I ran now on four legs, losing myself to the trees and fog in the woods.

Anna “Girl!! I’m so happy for you, I can't believe this is really happening!!” Gabrielle screamed amidst the loud music blasting from the speakers as the DJ gave us the best vibe any person about to leave the singles market could ask for. “You have to believe it, girl, because in a few days I’m going to be the bride of none other than Casper Jackson…” I screamed back in excitement. “The most handsome bachelor CEO in the whole of Hawkins!!” We both yelled in unison as we vibed to the music. I gulped down the last glass of vodka I had before walking up to where the DJ was, while Gabrielle kept screaming behind me, “Where the hell are you going, Anna? Wait up!!” I paid less attention to her words and more attention to where I was headed as the vodka was already taking its toll on me. I turned off the music, which immediately made the whole club go silent as everyone’s gaze shifted to my direction, but I've always been the nonchalant ‘I don't give a f*** kinda b***h, especially when I’m about to do this.’ I picked up a mic, and with full enthusiasm, I announced. “What's up, people of Hawkins City? I'm Anna, and I'm just here to spice up this night a little bit, as this would be my last night as a single woman,” I said as everyone erupted into applause. “I know, I know, thank you… Thank you, everyone, but the main reason why I'm here is to let you know that whichever drink you all choose to take tonight? That's on me, no matter the cost!!” And with that, I dropped the time bomb, making everyone scream in excitement as the DJ picked up from where I left off as I got off his podium. “Have you suddenly gone mad? Why would you do that, Anna?!” Gabrielle scolded me. “Uh… because I can, duh,” I replied sarcastically as I staggered my way through the crowd, enjoying the rest of the night. *********** Next Day *********** “A hundred thousand dollars ($100,000)!! In one night? Get off that bed, young lady!” a hoarse voice yelled at me, jolting me off my bed. “Ouch…” I growled in pain the minute I got up, followed by a hard hangover. “Father, really?” I asked amidst the pain I was feeling as I locked eyes with my father, who was now staring at me with furious eyes. “Is that all you have to say? I just got this bill from the club this morning,” he said, tossing a bunch of papers to my face. “What?! How dare they present a bill to the owner of the club? Have they gone mad?!” I fired back with rage in my voice. “I should be the one asking you that right now, Ann. How the hell did you spend such an amount in one night?!” he asked. I held my head, suspending my long blonde hair in a mess as last night’s events began playing in my head. “Ow…” I whined, “Uhm… I might have paid for everyone’s drinks last night…” I replied, making puppy dog eyes. “Oh no, Ann, don’t you dare give me that look right now,” he fired at me. “Do you know how hard it is to make money in our present day?” We said in unison, only that for me, I was mimicking his words as this was the millionth time he’d said that phrase since I turned 18, and now this is half a decade later, I thought. “Come on, Dad, you of all people in the world should know this is what you signed up for when you signed those adoption papers. You know, before you came that day, people used to say;” “I’ve always wanted to know how it feels to be a father, so they said you were lucky to have me as your parent,” he interrupted, making me curl my lips into a smile. “You see, you get it,” I said, patting his cheeks a little as I got out of bed, heading to the kitchen to get myself coffee. “Come on now, Anna, that doesn’t give you any right to go about spending money like they fell from trees,” he fired back as he trailed behind. I stopped for a moment as I turned in his direction. “But, Daddy, if I don't help you spend your money, there’s no one else who’s gonna be able to do it. You know, it's us against the world,” I replied, cupping my hands on his face. “ANNA!” he scowled. “Okay, okay, fine! I'm sorry, Dad. Besides, you don't have to worry; in a few days I'll be out of your hair when Casper and I finally get married. I'll just go ahead and spend his money, alright?” I said with a smile. “You're such a…” he tried to speak. “A darling, right, Dad?” I asked with a bit of sarcasm in my voice. He rolled his eyes, taking my hands down from his face. “Your designer called; your gown is ready… James will take you there when you’re ready,” he said. “Oh Daddy, I'll be more than ready,” I said. “Just get this thing over with and get out of my house!” he shot at me before storming into his study. “You're sure you won’t miss me?” I yelled as I watched him leave. “Just get out of my house already!!” he yelled back, making me let out a light chuckle. I went downstairs, made myself a cup of coffee while I grabbed my phone to leave a message for Gabrielle. Text: Hey girl, my designer says my wedding gown is ready. Would you like to come with me to see it? I went back up to my room, got dressed in a simple outfit, and got back out to meet James already waiting for me with the SUV. “Good morning, Madame,” he greeted with a smile. “I’m getting married soon, James. Show some respect,” I said with a playful scowl as I got into the car. “Sorry, good morning, Mrs. Madame,” he replied with a smile. The drive to the designer’s shop was a long one, so I really didn't waste any more time. I just grabbed my gown, which by the way was a masterpiece, and headed out. “Oh my goodness, I can't believe Anna the goddess is really going to be Charlotte's bride!!” the designer Charlotte squealed as I wrapped my dress, making me chuckle lightly. “What can I say, it's destiny, plus she gets to be with a groom even more befitting, don't you think?” I replied. “Oh, I don't just think, I know,” she replied in excitement. “I honestly can’t wait for the pictures,” she added softly, handing the gown over to me. “Here you go,” she said. “Alright, Charlotte, have a good day,” I replied. “Oh, I definitely will,” she replied, waving me goodbye. I heaved a deep sigh the minute I got out as James came over to take the gown and carefully placed it in the back seat. “That's okay, James. I think it's best if you go home. You can take the rest of the day off,” I said, taking the car keys from him. “But, ma’am,” he tried to speak. “Please don’t fight it, James. I just have to make a few stops, then spend the night at Casper's. You can tell my dad that,” I interrupted. He tried to speak again, but I was quick to raise my hands, making him go mute. “The reason why you’re with me is because you’re Dad’s trusted guard, unless he promised me that I won’t have guards flocking around me for a few days to my wedding like pests. So if you don’t want to become that, I’d like to advise you to back off and allow me to go spend the night with my fiancé!” I fired at him. “Your wish is my command, ma’am,” he replied, bowing lightly before making his way out. “Phew…” I sighed softly as I got into the car and checked my phone to see if I'd gotten anything from Gabrielle, but - nothing, still no reply from her, which was so not her to do. With that, I already knew where my first stop would be. I started the car heading for the Michaelson’s residence, but I only met the maids, who said Gabrielle had stepped out a few hours ago, which was strange. She never goes anywhere without letting me know, I thought. Gabrielle has been my one and only friend since high school, and we do practically everything together and go everywhere, so her leaving without my knowledge, I find that really disturbing. Just then, a thought hit me as I remembered we shared our location. I pulled out my phone and went straight to Google Maps, but the minute I saw where she was, my leg shook. “She’s at Casper's?" I mumbled softly as I stared at my screen in disbelief. “Ma’am Anna, are you okay? Would you like some tea?” the head maid asked, jolting me out of my reverie. “Uhm… uh.. no thanks, I have to go,” I said as I quickly rushed out to the car, driving out in full speed while refreshing my phone screen, hoping it was a glitch or something, because my mind still couldn’t process what my best friend could be doing at my fiancé’s house. The ride to Casper’s was supposed to be a two-hour drive from her place, but with the speed at which I drove, breaking every driving law the city possibly had, I got there 30 minutes earlier. By this time, it was already nighttime, and like that night, I could feel the rage building inside me. I got into Casper’s place with my spare keys, checked every nook and cranny of the living room as part of me was still trying to believe this could all be a misunderstanding until I began to hear the soft moans from upstairs. Immediately, I sprang into action, taking the stairs as I flung the door to his room only to witness the very thing I'd honestly prayed she wouldn't do to me. “Gabrielle?” I called out softly, staring at my best friend stuck on my fiancé’s d*ck.
