Chapter 2

"What?!" Ashley yelled, staring at her mother. The words she had spoken were foreign and damn! It scared her. "I don't understand Mom," She mumbled, she could feel her feet getting wobbly. Who would not understand the simple word "You're getting married." Even an illiterate would and she was already a graduate. A good one at that. "You're getting married!" Her mother said again, letting the word sink deep into her. "I... I'm getting married?" She asked again, and she nodded. "No no no, I'm already married!" "Mom." She chuckled. "Is this a joke to you?" She asked, her breathing increasing. "Mom, I'm just Twenty-two and I'm your daughter for Pete's sake...no mother just wakes up and hands over her daughter like a piece of meat!" She half yelled. "How could you do this to me?" "Was this the only way!' She yelled again. Her mother was already crying. "Did you ever love me like a daughter Mom?" She asked again. Tears trickled down her face, and she sniffed. "It's already settled Ashley, we can not do anything about it!" Her Dad mumbled, coming into the room and cleaning his tears. "How could you Dad, how could you watch something like this happen?" "I am your daughter and for Pete's sake I don't even know the man!" She kept crying. "I'm so sorry sweetheart, we were so desperate." Mom began. "Money made us do this." She mumbled. "We didn't do it because we were dying of hunger, we did it because we needed the money and you were the only thing we had then. The company was going down, sweetheart..this company was built from scratch and we didn't want to lose it, nor did we want to lose your father." "When he saw you, he wanted you instead of the money and we had to comply." "We had many debts to settle and we didn't have any money." Her mother explained, adding to the pain that she was facing. "Money made you sell me out, Mom?" "Huh?" "Money made you sell out your only daughter to some man she doesn't even know about?" She half yelled, throwing away the paper. "I doubt you even know a thing about him! All you cared about was getting the money and settling every other thing with your daughter. Right?" She questioned. "I was always the only thing you knew that you could play with, push the other way and sell out." Ashley sniffed, cleaning her nose. Her nose had already begun running and she didn't clean. All her body seemed to ache right then. She stared at both of her parents, their eyes red with tears. She didn't blame them either. They had her and they had to put her to use. She sniffed, getting on bed. "Mom, I want to sleep," She mumbled, facing the other way. "Please I'm begging you all to leave me alone," Ashley said again. Her Mom stood up and so did Dad, and they walked out of her room. How could they? She was their only daughter. What if her supposed husband was a criminal, huh? What if he did illegal things to acquire money? What if the Corporations he had and the other huge Buildings were just a cover-up and he was a dangerous man behind it all? They didn't care! Didn't they think it through? No, they didn't.. they did say, they were desperate. Didn't they? She hissed, letting the tears fall. Her head was still getting in the doubts that she was already married to someone ever since she was a child. Who would have thought? Who would have thought that her parents had gotten their little child married, and for how many years did they say nothing? She shook her head and hissed, curling her head up on the silky soft bed, and soon fell asleep. *** Lunch was quiet, unlike the usual lunch table she had grown up to know. They were super rich and they were not that close but then Lunch was something they use In bonding sometimes and not talking made it more awkward. "I'm done eating, I'll leave first," She mumbled, pushing her chair backward and standing up. "You've not eaten anything Ashley, please don't starve yourself." Her Mother replied, staring at her plate that was still filled. She had just taken a spoon and yet she wasn't hungry. "Have you signed the papers?" Mom asked, and she sniffed. "No, and I'm not signing them... if you push me to do it, I'll leave and you will never see me again!" She said, and her Mother gasped. "Ashley Bantino!" Dad half yelled, and Ashley huffed. "You can't keep making decisions for me Dad, Okay?" "You can't keep making some silly rules and telling me to obey them. I'm Twenty-two not Stupid!" She yelled too and walked away. "You can not leave this house till you're set for your wedding," Her father said, angrily. "So, what now Dad... I'm grounded!" Ashley scoffed, and walked into her room, slamming the door hard. She walked to her bed and sighed. It was times like this that made some people do something bad. Where are they, even my parents? No normal mother and father would just sell their daughter out to someone they never knew, till they were sure about what they were getting themselves into. She turned to her closet. Her future husband was coming today, he was coming. She thought, biting her lower lips. She heard some noises and turned to the door. The knob turned and she heard the lock switch. She quickly ran to the door and hit it hard. "Mom, open this door!" she yelled, her eyes welling up. "Why are you doing this to me Mom, I'm not your daughter anymore?" She half yelled, hitting the door hard. "I'm so sorry Ashley, I'm so sorry but we don't have a choice. If we don't do this, we'll look like ungrateful people Ashley. They helped us in times of trouble and you don't want to be taken by force. Do you?" She heard her Mom ask, as she sobbed. "No, you can't do this to me Mom, I'll hate you so much for this. I'll never forgive you if you do this!' She yelled, banging on the door. She continued for many hours and finally stopped. Her head was already aching and her palm seemed red. She gulped while walking to the bed. She sat down and grabbed a sachet of water from the stool. She gulped it down and chuckled. This was it, she was finally shown the real colors of betrayal. She groaned, turning to her closet once again. She stood up quickly and grabbed her medium-sized fancy bag, and began stuffing some of her clothes in it. She grabbed as many clothes as she could and left the one that was not needed. She rushed to her other wardrobe, inputting the right passwords, she smiled as she quickly stuffed the money she had saved cause she knew if she were to leave. Her credit cards would be blocked and she would be stuck with nothing. It was a total of $100,000. She was not stupid. She had many keys and many ways to open her door. She had been doing so every time her request to go to a party with Abi had been canceled. She would sneak out and sneak back in. She opened the small hole by the side of the vase flower and brought out another key. She didn't know where she could go, and neither did she know anybody at all. But she had to go... leaving was the main thing for her. She opened the door slowly and peeked through. Mom and Dad were not around... seems they had gone out, leaving her behind so she could finally reunite with her long unknown husband. She rolled her eyes at the thought and ran out of the house. She had a face cap on, and she had already changed her dress to black. Her black leather trousers and black leather jacket. Her phone rang and she stared at the screen. It was Abi. She thought, thank God. Picking up her call, she sighed. "Hello, Abi?" "Why are you whispering Baby girl?" "Abigail,l I need a favor from you please, can I crash in your place for days, please? I ran away from home." "Ouch, the runaway." Abi laughed. "No, head to my penthouse, my mom and dad do not know about the penthouse and if you come here...they might call your parents to confirm," Abi said and she nodded. "What can I do without you?' "Absolutely.... nothing!" "Tch! Such a prude!" Her parents and hers were best friends, so going there was not even a topic that she would pick. She took a cab and headed for the penthouse. The last thing she would do was stay anywhere near her parents. "¿A dónde vas? ( Where are you going?)" The man asked, and she snapped up. "Spanish?" She muttered, clicking her tongue. Thankfully she was a linguist and Spanish was her best language along with Russian. "Voy a la Calle Houston ( I'm going to Houston Street)" She Mumbled, and he nodded. The drive was calm and peaceful as the Spanish song made her problems a little less bad than it was. She sighed, as she hopped out of the car and brought out the fare. "Buen Viaje ( Have a safe Journey)" He waved and she nodded. "Grazie ( Thank you)" She smiled, and he nodded. She stared down at the finely decorated trees by the roadside. She knew Abi's penthouse and that was her next stop. ***** The sunset was breathtaking, as he watched the sky from where he sat. He stood on the top floor of his building, as the board members kept rumbling nonsense. "Sir, is it not what you think?" The manager was already begging. "I'm so sorry, I will make everything right Sir, please give me a second chance." He begged. He glanced at the other two stupid ladies that were supposed to get their heads together and begging. But No! They were staring at me. He chuckled. Who wouldn't...he was handsome, A well defined broad shoulders, perfect abs, a chiseled jaw and sea-green eyes. No one had ever looked once but twice. Even men drool at him. "Meeting Dismissed, Don't ever call back for this meeting unless you all want to lose your job," He said sternly, giving all a deadly look. He turned to his secretary. "What is it?" He asked. "Sir, uhm..it's about time we go back home." They had multiple companies all over the world and this happened to be their second-best company. He sighed, his mother would be so surprised and happy to see him. To get a client, he had to travel abroad to Seattle and now he was going back home. "Get the plane!!" *** "He's so handsome.." "An angel!" The ladies whispered to themselves as he walked by. He was already at the airport and as usual, it was crowded. "Sir, we have to take the other route to the plane." Tod his secretary mumbled, and he nodded. His private plane had landed at one of the airports and he didn't like it. It made him mingle with people, another thing he didn't like. He was Barry Mazza, the only Son, and heir of the Mazza's Corporations. A Corporation that made all types of machines and phones included. The CEO and we'll be leading leaders of the entire corporation worldwide. Getting into the plane... California was their next stop.
