Another loss

EPISODE FIVE

4 days after the girls birthday,May was rushed to hospital,unfortunately she couldn’t make it,this drove Alfonso nuts,over the years he’s tried so much to make sure he takes good care of her ,Cathrine and Suzan,and after everything he still lost her.

This shattered Cathrine’s ambition,the little hope she has of becoming a doctor and taking care of her mother .but now it’s of no use.

Suzan on the other hand ,was left heart broken,even if May was partially paralyzed when she met her,Mah was still the most wonderful mother she ever had,not like she new her parents,she had never been shown true affection until she met this family.

Now seeing them broken hurts her more than anything,and she wishes things weren’t the way it is now.

Alfonso grieves differently,he’s sudden coldness has made him even more strict,but in his workplace,and at home,even towards his best friend Eric,but this doesn’t change Eric’s intentions towards him. He’s always there to support him,watch out for him and take care of him .

SIX YEARS LATER.

The girls are are packing their bags and getting ready to go home for the Christmas holiday,it has been 6months since they last went home,school hasn’t been easy on both of them,Catherine is studying geography and Suzan is studying English,they lived together as room mates with another of their friend ,Amaya.

Catherine: “so, are going to stay here all season or you are also going back home”? She asked Amaya.

Amaya : “ I can’t go home,can’t let mom know I’m pregnant,I really have to get rid of this baby”. She worries

Suzan : “ should have thought of that before allow Greg get you pregnant “.she added .

Catherine: “ Suzan .” She warned,

“ what I’m just saying,now look who can’t go home to her mom” Suzan implied

Amaya : “ they can never make me like you Suzan”. She frowned

“ good thing I don’t like you either Amaya” she grinned.

Catherine: “ both of you can take a break okay,I believe when we come back next year ,you guys will be over each other, and acting like babies “.

Suzan : “ sorry mom “ she mocked.

[ her cellphone rings]

“ it’s Eric ,I think he’s here ,let’s go Catherine”.

They both carried their bags waved Amaya goodbye and walked out of the hostel .

Suzan: “ hey Eric,how’s it going ?” As she enters the passenger seat ,while Catherine sat in the back,Catherine feeling for Eric has become stronger over the years,she no longer s considers it as a crush,but actual love.she sometimes finds it annoying because Eric sometimes gives her red lights,and then all of a sudden it’s nothing again and he’s back to being the big brother she didn’t ask for.

Maybe he’s pretending,maybe he just likes her as a friend,but Cathrine feels otherwise and it’s breaking her .

It was a long way home,took them four hours to drive all the way back to their home town.the moment they got home they saw Alfonso standing in the front yard with bandages on his arm and around his head.

Suzan: “dad?” She climbs down from the car and walked toward his puzzled.

“What happened?,who did this to you” ,Suzan has never seen Alfonso in such condition since she knew him,despite how risky his work is,he always comes back stronger.

Alfonso: “ let’s just say I wasn’t lucky this time .” He smiled and pulled her in for a quick hug .

“ look how beautiful you are,what did you do with your hair?” He asked,She had highlighted her natural red her into a more vibrant reddish hair and Alfonso seems to like it better.

Catherine: “ she has a boyfriend in school,and he asked her to brighten her hair color” ,she mocked.

Eric: “ at least she now has a boyfriend,where’s yours,you are 21 years old ,you should get a man sooner Cathy “, she joked ,but only pissed Cathrine of,she then rushed inside angrily without saying anything.

Alfonso on the other hand didn’t find it funny knowing that Suzan now has a boyfriend.

“Who’s the guy?” He asked calmly,but beneath his calmness was anger ,he’s chest tightened with a feeling he’s unsure of.

Suzan : “well, Catherine isn’t a hundred percent correct,he’s not fully my boyfriend ,yet” she implied as they walk across the living room ,heading towards her bedroom.

Alfonso: “ so what’s he to you then?” He frowned

Suzan: “ dad ,why all these questions,I mean I’m old enough right” she sat on her bed and proceeds to remove her sandals,watching Alfonso shut the door behind him .

Alfonso: “ I don’t like to remind you this sweetie ,but boys are dangerous”

Suzan: “ are you serious right now?, boys are dangerous? Common dad you have cut it out okay,I can’t just be scared of boys,because my dad said so” she stands up and slowly walked towards him.

“ dad I know you are scared ,I know how much you love me and Catherine,but you have to stop okay,this.. this .. act of being the strict father..it’s getting to you ,please “ she pleaded holding his hands.

Alfonso: “ NO!!!,”he yelled out “ you don’t understand what it takes to carry responsibility bigger than you at a young age,you don’t , look at me I dedicate all my life to you and Cathrine , so don’t make it worse for me than it already is”he grabbed her arm.

Suzan: “ dad ,you’re hurting me” she tries to break his fist off her arm,but he’s already been consumed by his rage.

“ Dad?, ! “ she cried out while his grip tightened around her arm ,causing her to feel pain

“ what is wrong with you!!!, Alfonso!!!” She yelled,as he immediately came to his senses and let her go,he dashed out of the room and went to his chambers,leaving Suzan in tears.
