Day Dreaming
She sat on a cold stone bed with a grey, thin, dingy cot. It smelled like urine and blood from previous captured. The walls were cemented and the bars were the strongest steel that would hold in an army of elephants if need be. The floors wreaked from the stale muddy waters. She made her choices and felt completely content with her actions.
A life on the run wasn't perfect but it was all she had to cling on to. Piper was a defective wolf at birth. Her eyes glowed gold with a scar across her right eye ,and her fur was as white as a blanket of snow but her tail was short and stubby. She didn't come into her wolf until she left her father's pack unlike most who shifted at youthful ages of three and four. Her mother died at the age of twenty-five. Piper was barely 3 years old so there wasnt compassion for Piper as a child. She grew up with a cold hearted father and raised her siblings.
Piper's pack was the laughing stock of all the packs. They were all careless and drunks. A bunch of irresponsible lads who made it impossible to survive if they didn't have the support of other packs.
Since there were only twelve packs total in the states each was in agreement to stick it out with one of the twelve zodiacs. They had the opportunity to change the name but not the representation. Piper was from the Scorpion tail pack. They use to be respected and feared until her father took over.
Quin was a great leader for the first few years then his mate died from a costly war. He was never the same again. Drinking became an easy way for him to suppress his beast while he was in mourning for the first few months, then it became a habit. That habit made him neglect his pack duties. His pack scared to challenge him joined his alcoholic pleasures.
Quin abused Piper for not doing every little thing she was told. She didn't want to raise her siblings or be a maid. She didn't want to challenge her father for his position either. Quinn was too strong for her to fight back. Night after night she was beaten and thrown around for his own amusement. She had to escape him one day.
After years of the abuse she packed three days ahead to run away. She promised her sister she would be back for her, but the night before she could leave her sister was murdered when piper was at the packs hospital tent for over night observations. She suffered broken ribs and a few bruises on her back. When piper got up in the middle of the night she went to her room for some clothes and a bag. Tonight was the night she planned on leaving. Before walking out of her room piper noticed her sister wasn't in her bed as usual. It was late and the smell from her bed was different.
Chloraphorm? Piper asked herself. She found a note on her sister's pillow. Piper recognized immediately that it wasn't her handwriting. The windows were open and something was off about the curtains.
Paris? It couldn't be! Piper thought to herself. She ran to the room light and turned it on not caring who woke up. Piper screamed and fell to the ground. No! Not you, not my baby sister, why! Why would the gods do this to me? Piper weaped in sorrow at the sight of her baby sister hanging from the window by her miniblind wire. She left seeking vengeance the same night since her father completely lost his sanity. She roamed the northern states for months seeking for the truth. Her other sister, Paris' twin Portia, was kidnapped. The whole pack lost their hope. There was no returning home anymore. Pipers heart hardend.
No one came forward and she had to steal and manipulate many young wolves to survive on her journey. Piper was now cold hearted and closed off to the world. She permanently took her natural form of her beast fully suppressing her human half. Rogues were know to make an impression on the wolf community and they almost always were ruthless.
Low on cash and hungry, Piper came across the Crab Claw Pack and studied their every move from a distance. She found out a possible lead to her sister's demise. Her only problem was that it was a far travel on foot and she needed cash quick to make it to Texas.
Tracking every single member and their schedules for a week she finally got a perfect time to strike for her winnings. Crab Claw wasn't wealthy, but they sure had it comfortable for the most part. At two in the morning Piper carefully sprung to the main pack house and stole every penny there was in the safe. Before morning light, she was already half way across the states from Maine headed towards Texas.
A major bounty was placed on her head since they tracked her scent back to her father's pack. Her father could care less if she were even alive since he never came looking for her. They questioned the pack for days trying to find her. Now that they knew who she was, a mass warning was sent out to packs across the states.
Piper made it to Louisiana and bumped into her first interaction with anyone since she sprung from her home state.
A young girl about four years old in a white dress and no shoes. Her hair smelled like rose pedals and she had the energy like a baby wolf. Upon further investigation the crest of her pack was scarred into her skin on her small wrist.
Piper stared down at the girl who just ran into her with out blinking. The girl just smiled and hugged her leg then ran off. Usually the curiosity wouldn't get to piper so easily as she would be dead set on her mission but this girl was different. Her long brown hair just danced in the wind as she made it back to her pack territory that was filled with warriors looking for her. She couldn't have been gone long since she wasn't far from home, so why the commotion about her being missing? A man came out with dark black hair and cocoa kissed skin. He bent down scolding the young girl then gave her a lift off the ground hugging her and brought her back into the large house.
Piper scoffed, "princess perfect and daddy's little girl, she'll be a weak leader one day and I vow I will never be her."
She went to turn away from the outskirts of the girls territory when she was knocked unconscious by something heavy hitting her behind the base of her skull.
clattering noises in the distance interrupted her daze.
Piper came to her senses as she realized she just relived every moment leading up to her capture and still didn't understand how could she be so careless. One wrong move ended her journey and she was only one state away from being where she needed. She shook her head contemplating her next moves. She had to get out of this place fast and so she began coming up with scenarios in her head. She could explain that she was just passing through, maybe that might earn her some favor with them.
A rogue wolf none the less was and issue but one who completely gave up their human form was a concern. She forgot that she would have to show who she really was in order for them to believe her. How could she make this happen with these people who might have learned what she did to get here? She sat in the cell for a while looking for her exit strategy, studying every crevest in the room for a sign of weakness. Piper was not going to give in this easily.
