Chapter 2

1255 Words
{Kiera's P.O.V} As I sat on the cold basement floor, with my back against the wall, I stare ahead at the all too familiar cobweb filled grey walls. I began thinking about my upcoming birthday and how I was finally going to be able to escape this hell hole. I turn 18 in just two days time and it can not come soon enough! I have been planning my great escape for the past few years and hoped that once I got my wolf I'd have enough strength to fight off Dex if I really needed to. I know my time here has been rough on me, but I always thought I stood a better chance here than out on the streets on my own. Once I have my wolf though that all changes. I could live off the grid and keep myself from being hungry and cold with her help. I plan on living in the forest, hunting wild animals for food and keeping myself warm through the nights in my wolf form. I have my already heightened senses to keep me protected from predators and I'd be able to really figure myself out. The only trouble I'd have would be figuring out where in the woods would be free land and not part of other pack territory. I could be killed on sight if I fall in their territory and they think I'm trespassing. The plan however, never involved spending the two weeks leading up to my escape locked in this basement! I always end up feeling so tired and drained from the time down here, I think the lack of food and water along with poor sleep really do make it hard on my already malnourished body. The nights are cold with the breeze coming through the vent and the air damp from the drizzle that continually drips down the wall in the corner. Suddenly, I'm pulled out of my thoughts by an unfamiliar feeling. I felt my body surge with adrenaline and energy. My eyes open wide and I stand to my feet. My heart races, I can feel each beat pounding at my chest, I move my hands to my chest and grab at the clothing covering my upper chest. What is happening to me? Am I having a panic attack? I struggle to make sense of the situation. My throat is dry and I really need water but I know Dex won't bring me any until at least tomorrow morning. In a panicked state I go to the corner where the drizzle of water glides over the wall. I lay my head against the wall feeling the cold liquid caress my face and cool me down. I felt the breeze through the vent and then I could swear I could hear a faint deep calming voice, words muffled from the distance through the vent to the outside world. I close my eyes, calming from the sound, still clutching my t-shirt and trying to focus. As fast as this rush hit me, it left again. I felt as if something was being pulled away from me, but I just couldn't tell what. I've never felt anything like this before. Exhausted, I closed my eyes and let myself slowly slide back down the floor, curling myself up into a tight ball. I sit there, confused and not really able to think about anything in particular. "Wait, if I heard someone. Could they have heard me too?". _______________________________________________ {Dex's P.O.V} After I locked that ridiculous excuse of a human back where she belongs, I quickly wash my face and make sure I look presentable before heading next door to my nightclub. The house was attached to the building at the back, so it was easy for me to keep an eye on everything. After setting it up I had some basic security put in, but with Kiera turning 18 in two days I plan on making her work at the club and want the best security tech there is to make sure I have eyes on her at all times. The last thing I want is for that little b***h to get away from me, I've put too much time in to lose her now when she can finally make me money. I already have ten of the best security guards employed and I plan on hiring a few more in the next couple of weeks. To make sure I got the best security the firm could offer, I requested that the CEO came personally. I looked up at the clock and it was already a little past 3pm and I was expecting him at 3, so I decided to go outside and see if he was here. As I approached the front door, I saw a black SUV parked up and a man in a suit stood leaning on the driver's side door with his hands in his pockets looking over to the side of the building. He was a tall man about 6"2, brown hair which was short at the back and sides but slicked over to the right hand side on top. He had brown eyes and tattoos up his neck and on his hands. He was wearing a black suit which covered up to his wrists, but I imagine he is tattooed all over. Slightly annoyed at the lack of professionalism in his stance, I clear my throat. "Can I help you?", I say to him coldly. "Ah, Mr. Michael's?", Dylan questions. I nod, while walking to the corner to look at what he was looking at. I see another man walking towards us. He extends his hand for me to shake but I turn on my heels and walk back towards the entrance. "Follow me, boys" I say, making it clear I am annoyed at their lateness and hoping to hurt their blindingly obvious male egos. "I'm sorry Mr. Michael's, I wanted to get a good look at the size of the building, from the outside before heading in. I'm the CEO of AlphaTech, Jenson Rivers". We head in, talking about the different places I want cameras and all the different security options the company can provide. I make it clear I want the best there is. I show him around the club, discussing how best to monitor the bar area and poles. I show him the private booths we have at the back of the club but I couldn't help but feel he was slightly distracted the whole time. After an hour Jenson motions to leave and explains he would get a plan ready and come back once the club was open to confirm his plans will work in reality. We agree for him to come back Friday night as I want the tech set up as quickly as possible. Before he sets off, he casually says, "I will just take another look around both sides and the back of the building to make sure we can cover every area of the building" and quickly walks away, not waiting for my response. Annoyance began to rise inside of me, "OK, not a problem... be quick though, I want to lock up the club and go home", I shout back, not feeling comfortable with someone so close to my house, where that little b***h is hiding. "Sure, give me 5 minutes", he says as he turns and leaves. I roll my eyes and follow them outside to the front where I lock up getting ready to leave.
