“ Good evening ma'am, your investment with Allen global has been dissolved and sent to the provided bank account, do you want to consider re-investing with us?” the professional voice said from the receiving end and I froze immediately. “ What? Impossible!” I shouted on instinct, I know how important it is to invest so how will I dissolve it, when did I even dissolve it? “ I didn't dissolve any of my investments, do you mind checking again to confirm that you didn't reach out to the wrong person,” I calmed my voice and suggested. “ Yes ma'am, we confirmed that your investment with us was really canceled and it has been paid back to the provided account. You can come to our company tomorrow for more clarifications ma'am,” I was in shock and couldn't respond to her. Beep, beep, the other end hung up and I stood still in shock. I have never thought of dissolving my investment. Why was I informed that I dissolved it and even if I did unconsciously, I am supposed to have been contacted by the bank but here, I checked my bank app which is still showing the same amount that was left there. Different ideas of what to do started coming to my head, “ should I go to the bank. perhaps, I should contact my bank manager,” I deliberated but went against both ideas because it was dawn already and work was closed. I decided to wait till the next day to rectify the issue. I got back home but everywhere was empty and showed no sign of humans, the sitting room was dimly lit and silent. Sighing wearily, I made my way to the room. *** Ethan still didn't return home yesterday which was his very first time but warranting the situation on ground, I didn't panic. He is probably trying to gather himself together. I prepared myself for work but I planned to branch over at Allen global to rectify the issues at hand before I go back to open my restaurant. I left the house and met the ride that I booked minutes ago already waiting for me outside, I entered and we zoomed off. “ Good morning ma,” I said to the receptionist that I met at the entrance. “ How may I help you ma'am,” she asked, wearing a professional smile. I related my reason for coming there to her and she directed me to the customer service. I followed her description and arrived In Front of a big office I entered and met a pretty looking lady, working on the laptop and looking very serious, I was admiring her sight when she interrupted me with her sweet voice, “You may have your seat ma'am,” she said, not taking her eyes off her laptop. “ Please can you spare me some minutes,” she requested and I nodded at her, I used the opportunity to admire the simplicity of the office. The transparent glass embedded by the side of the office was see through and the busy street could be seen through the transparency, The aesthetics and paintings were simple yet elegant. “ May I know your complaints ma'am,” the woman said, jotting me out of my admiration. I cleared my throat and narrated the call I received and how I didn't call for any cancellation of investment. An agreement was brought out and to my biggest dismay, the signature was that of my husband. When did he start doing things behind me? Not to talk of the investment was made from my own money I was so angry and flabbergasted, I thanked the woman and exited the office. I picked up my phone and tried to reach him but the call didn't go through. “ How dare he? f**k s**t,” I cursed, kicking the bottle Infront of me. My head suddenly clicked as I immediately recalled our joint account. Ethan said he doesn't have another account apart from our joint account so the money sent to him should be nowhere other than the joint account. I breathed a sigh of relief and opened my bank app to check for any new payment. For the second time today, adrenaline rushed through my veins as I stared at the figures on my phone in daze. The millions in the account were all gone, leaving it blank and empty. All the money there was the hard earned money that I made from my restaurant business and he was the one that convinced me to open an account with him together. I panicked and started checking other things that we have in common but all I met was disappointment. I broke down on the street as tears started streaming down from my face. My heart hurts as I don't know the pain that I am feeling most. Is it the pain of losing all my hard earned properties to the man I trusted most or the pain of divorcing the man that promised me everything. ‘ No, I can't just let things go his way,’ with this thought, I dusted myself and left for the restaurant. “ Hello everyone,” I greeted the workers masking my pain with a smile as I carefully inspected everything that was going on around, all the tables were sparkling clean and the cups, cutleries and plates were arranged neatly in their respective positions on the shelf. After the thorough inspection, I left for my private room. I broke down again as soon as I got to my private room. This went on for almost ten minutes before I called my friend, Kora and narrated everything that just happened to her. She was also shocked and couldn't help but blame Ethan. She then asked the question that I never thought of, “ Which of his properties was allocated to you as your percentage divorce share?” I didn't answer immediately because I never thought of what she just brought up. I hesitated and replied, “ Nothing,” she screamed from the other end of the phone and I had to quickly remove the phone from my ear. “ Did your marriage to Ethan make you suddenly dumb?” She questioned and I could picture her angry facial expression in my head. She told me the next thing to do and boom! I was on my way to a place I have never been to before. BG law firm. I got down from the cab and made my way to the group elegantly. I didn't meet any receptionist there so I directly made my way to the managing director's office. I knocked harshly on the door and barged in without any form of approval. “ Who is so unmannered to enter my office without any approval,” a cold, stern voice rang out, making shivers run down my spine. I opened my mouth and the next statement I spewed got him looking at me in shock. This is just the beginning .
