Chapter 63

Jake’s POVAfter the breakfast while I was getting ready he was in the same room but he never said anything. He was on his phone all the time which was unlikely of him. He always kisses me or hugs me. He must be giving me space thinking that I might need it.

At that time I decided what I have to do today to make him happy and bright again.

Soon after we both left for work. I came to my restaurant. I am the head chef here. Firstly I have to decide what I want to be the special for today. This restaurant is the most famous out of all my restaurants so I work here and this is not just because it is famous it is also because it is the first restaurant I owned. I have worked in many of them before but to own a restaurant it is something else. It is famous from me and my team's hard work. The sous chef worked with me in the restaurant before are now the head chef of the other branches I had.

For today's special I decided Oysters cooked in red wine and my specialty Gumbo soup. It will be for the dinner, it should be cooked for four to five hours to get its rich favour and for the dinner we will prepare crème custard.

I commanded everything to the sous chef and to the team about the special and all the other on our menu and we started with the preparations. First thing was to bring fresh ingredients. I orders other items from the inventory. And eventually it all started to cook.

After all the preparations the restaurant opened. It was 9 am at that time. People started to come. And we started taking orders.

I didn't realized when time passed, it was now the lunch time. It isn't something new to me. I had my lunch quickly and went to buy something from the market since I wanted to surprise Xabert today.

I went to the market and bought a really pretty ring for Xabert. It was hard to ding the ring i thought he would like. The ring was simple, it was made of platinum. It had delicate design on it. I knew from the first glance that this is it. This is what I was looking for.

I decided to surprise him today. I have thought about marrying him, I knew I was not ready yet but I also knew that I cannot live without him nor can see him sad or upset.

I came back to the restaurant. I kept the ring in my purse and started to prepare for dishes. I want to surprise Xabert and for that I am planning of a romantic dinner.

It's dinner Time the restaurant is fully packed. I am still busy with the orders but I called Xabert and asked him if he could come and pick me up from the restaurant as I accidentally burned my hand and can't drive on my own. He was worried when he knew that I got hurt but I told him that I got it bandaged.

I am now closing the orders and the kitchen is being cleaned.

The staff has been gone now and only I am here alone. Xabert reached the restaurant, I saw him parking the car. He came inside. I was looking at him but I knew he cannot look at me from where his was standing.

I was in a big banquet hall which we only use for parties and stuff. We don't use it in a regular basis but today is a special day. I am going to do something I've never thought I will do.

"Ahhhh, s**t!!!", I screamed from the room. I knew Xabert will come listening to my voice.

And he obviously did what I imagined.

"Babe? Christina? What happened? Where are you? You fine? Are you hurt?" I heard his voice coming closer with each word.

"Ah babe I am a little hurt can you please help me?" I shouted.

"I am coming don't worry" he shouted back.

The hall was dark as soon as I knew he had entered the hall, I switched on the lights.

The room was decorated with electronic candles, music started playing. He looked confused and surprised with all the things.

But soon as he saw me on my knees with a ring in my hand he get overwhelmed. He smiled while a shining pearl fell from his eyes. Looking at him I again realized how much I love this man.

He quickly went on his knees just like me. Now both of us are on the Knees looking at each other and both crying the tears of happiness.

He hugged me staying on the knees.

"Oh god babe, you know how scared I was, I thought you don't need me anymore. I was scared you will leave me." He said softly looking me in my eyes.

"Hey babe, why would I do that? You know how much I love you and I need you as much. I was just doubtful if I am ready for marriage yet." I told him worried that he might have got me wrong before.

"Now get up stop with this emotional talks give me my ring." I said to him to lighten the mood a little.

"I'm sorry but I was upset so I left it in my room". He said hesitantly.

"Okay it's fine but let's now have our dinner, it's getting cold. You cooked me my favourite breakfast today so now I cooked you your favourite food and not just that I chose your favourite food for today's special. Guess what I could be." I said enthusiastically.

"Is there Gumbo and oyster in the food", he said walking to the table.

"You guessed it right." I said while he was pulling the chair for me.

"Bon appetit" I said and poured us wine.
