Chapter 2

Xander pov

I was livid when I got the call from Miss Knight. But concern and frustration set in when I realized that my child was in the hand of a complete stranger, but I became angry again when I discovered that Miss Marie did not only lose Alex but didn't even bother to call. She was probably too afraid to call and face me and she should really be. God knows what would have happened to alex if he had not met a very kind lady, I don't even want to think of the later if he had met someone with an ulterior motive. Ms. Marie should really be thanking God that Alex is fine because she would not only lose her Job but would have faced imprisonment for the rest of her life.

" Ms. Marie has arrived sir" my PA informed me and I told her to let her in.

Placing a cold look on my face , I waited for Ms. Marie at my desk. When she got to the office , I motioned for her to sit down and I wasted no time in addressing the current issue. " Leaving Alex on his own was a very irresponsible thing to do and I'm sure you must have realized your unforgivable mistake by now . You compromised his safety and I can't overlook that Ms. Marie " I said with a stern look on my face.

" I'm sorry!" She said fidgeting " I didn't mean to leave him on his own".

" But you did, didn't you??" I said with my voice booming

" Answer me" I said trying to keep my cool.

"Yes sir, I'm so sorry sir" she said crying.

" What was so Important that left Alex on his own, Where did you go?".

" We were going to alex favourite toy shop since he broke his racing car and he really wanted another one. By the time we got into the store , I asked him to go pick the toy up and it was at that point we were split apart".

" And you didn't even think to call me , you didn't deem it fit right?".

" I thought I could try finding him myself"she said.

" And you didn't, I kept my son's care in your hands but you compromised his safety, did you think of what would have happened if that woman didn't think of calling me. You're dismissed.

I saw Ms. Marie eyes fill up with tears and she rushed out of my office. I couldn't feel pity for her because it was her fault she left my son for the wolves to attack.

Since I couldn't find any babysitter for my son so fast I put him under the care of my PA for the time being. They were just in the room beside me so I could easily check up on them. I really need a babysitter this night unless Hailey will kill me if I cancel on her this night especially since it is valentine.

Sighing I decided to take up Anita's offer to watch alex, so I gathered his things in the car and got him down into the car. I was going to drop him at Anita's House since Hailey wasn't the biggest fan of Alex. And I was really hoping she would eventually get fond of him as time goes on.

The drive to Anita's home was not that far apart since her house was not so far from her bakery.

Anita

I was sitting on my couch enjoying my time alone with some pizza and cookies n' cream ice cream when the doorbell of my apartment rang. I placed my things on the table and quickly rushed to the door.

On opening it I found Mr Kingston standing in front with little alex at his side, it was at that point I discovered I was still in my pajamas short and crop top. Wow, Great.

" Hello Mr Kingston, Hey baby boy" I said while rubbing alex head. I stepped aside so they could come in and closed the door behind them.

" Excuse me" . I quickly went to change into my sweats and a top and quickly rushed down. When I got back down Mr Kingston was looking around and from the look on his face I knew he was not very pleased with my apartment but it was my standard and also clean and neat enough for me giving me a homely feeling.

" Nice place" I definitely knew he was being sarcastic

" Thanks" I said not finding any more words to say.

Once he was done assessing my home , he turned towards me and told me everything to know about Alex. Alex seemed like a really easy going chid since he had no allergies, no behavioural issues even though Mr Kingston said he doesn't really do well with stranger, well I would count myself as an exception.

" All right, Alex I will pick you up later" Mr Kingston said will rubbing the top of Alex's head lovingly. He suddenly seemed shy and I felt the need to bring him out of his shell. " We are going to have such a good time baby boy" I said while holding his hand while watching Mr Kingston leave.

Alex eyed the new batch of cookies that was on the table and at that moment I knew everything will be fine.

I had a great time with Alex. He is very smart boy for a 5 years old boy, we had a great conversation with us turning my house into a playground of laughter. We played around baking cookies and watching cartoons with a big pint of cookie n' cream icecream. And amazingly he also loved cookies n' cream ice cream as much as I do.

We also made more cookies since he insisted he wanted to take some home for his dad.

But it was getting so late and Alex got very tired, that I had to put him in bed to sleep. I didn't know when Mr Kingston will be back and I didn't want to keep him awake because that will do him no good.

Around 10 o'clock , there was a knock on the door, and it was of course Mr Kingston.

"Hi, Mr Kingston. Alex is asleep on my bed, let me go get him".

" That's okay, I will grab him".

I showed Mr Kingston to my bedroom where Alex was comfortably snuggled up in my blanket.

Mr Kingston expertly picked Alex up without waking him.

He started walking towards the door but I stopped him with an "Please wait" making sure to not wake Alex up.

" Alex really wanted to make some cookies for you, so we made some chocolate chips cookies, she was really excited to make it for you".

I handed the box over to him and he smiled at me " Thank you" he said, looking into my eyes. I felt his deep blue eyes piercing into my soul.
