UNWANTED NEWS
ARIA
“Let's break up Aria. I have found my fated mate. Luckily, she turned out to be your sister.”
Those words have been ringing in my head for hours now as I watched my family dance around my sister filled with excitement.
I couldn't take it in anymore as I dashed toward them. “Dad! Mum! I won't accept this, he is my fiance! "I won't leave him for Ava!” I yelled but was smacked down by my brother, making me hit the ground.
“Respect yourself, don't talk to our father that way!” Mason, my older brother, yelled at me.
I looked up at him only to see my family staring down at me with disdain-filled eyes.
“Mum… Dad… wh…” I stuttered in pain. I know I have always been the black sheep of the family, but are they supposed to go to this length?
Mum squatted to my level helping me up, “Aria, your brother only reacted out of anger, but you know how weak and sick Ava is, you should be happy she finally got to be our Beta’s fated mate.” I pushed Mum away out of anger.
Mason and Dad rushed toward her quickly grabbing her and stopping her from hitting the ground.
“Why? Why is it always her?” I screamed, my voice cracking as hot tears streamed down my face. “When have you ever asked what I wanted? It’s always Ava this, Ava that!”
My fists trembled at my sides, nails digging into my palms as I took a shaky breath.
“I am your daughter too, Mum! I was your daughter first! before her!”
The room went cold for some seconds before Dad broke the silence.
“You ungrateful brat!” Dad’s voice thundered as he stormed toward me, his eyes wild, his foot swinging without hesitation.
But just as the blow was about to land Ava lunged forward like a shield, taking the full force of the kick. Her small body crumpled to the ground with a sickening thud.
“Ava!” Mum shrieked.
Everything erupted into chaos.
They all rushed to her, crouching over her fragile body. Blood dribbled from the corner of her lips as she coughed violently, clutching her ribs like they were about to snap. Mum was sobbing, Dad was frozen in shock, and yet all I could do was stare.
The little drama queen. Always swooping in at the right moment. Always acting like a savior to steal the spotlight. She knew exactly what she was doing.
She knew how much I loved Richard. She knew how long we had been together. Three years. Three damn years. But did that stop her? No
She looked at him with those wide, innocent eyes and now suddenly he’s her mate?
Now? Why now? Why not from the beginning? Why not when he first met her? Why did it have to be after I gave him everything?
“Ava…” Dad whispered, cradling her head, brushing hair from her face.
“Dad… please,” she whimpered, voice weak and trembling, blood still staining her lips. “Please don’t hurt Aria… she… she cares about me… so much…”
My jaw clenched. Her trembling words, her faltering breath, the way she slurred, it all made my skin crawl. She was acting, and they were eating it up like fools.
Then she turned those teary eyes on them. “She must… she must be scared of losing him… because of… the baby…”
My stomach dropped the moment I heard her words. My eyes widened before I slammed them shut in horror.
No… No… no… She didn’t. She couldn’t have just said that.
“The baby…?” Mum blinked, voice hollow.
Dad rose slowly to his feet, his face twisting into something monstrous.
“You… you are pregnant…?” he asked, voice like a growl. “You are carrying Beta's child?”
His steps echoed with danger as he turned to face me.
“Dad,” I managed to speak but Aria’s voice cut me off immediately.
“I can let them be together, after her first abortion I don’t think losing this child would be advisable,” her words made my blood boil, something inside me snapped, and without thinking, I charged toward her.
“Shut the hell up!” I screamed, my voice rising with fury as I raised my hand to strike her, but Dad grabbed my neck mid-air, his grip like iron as he lifted me high off the ground, my feet kicking, air choking out of me.
My dad, the former Gamma of our pack the Night Stone Pack, now an elder, stronger than most wolves even in retirement, and with my brother currently holding the Gamma title, said everything about how powerful and feared our bloodline was.
Dad didn’t hesitate, he slammed me against the wall, my back hitting the hard surface with a loud thud as I coughed out painfully.
“Easy, honey, she’s pregnant,” Mum’s voice came out fake and low, pretending to care as always, but Dad wasn’t buying it, his eyes still locked on me like I was some disgrace he regretted creating.
“Are you trying to tarnish our reputation because of your stupid lust?” he growled as he finally dropped me, making sure my butt slammed hard against the floor, the sound echoed and I groaned, struggling to breathe as I held my neck, but before I could recover, he kicked me hard in my stomach.
“Da… Dad please… my baby…” I cried out, both hands wrapping around my belly, but the words only made his anger burn hotter. His expression twisted as he crouched down to my level, eyes boring into mine.
“Get rid of that thing like you did the first one, your sister’s engagement party with the Beta is near, one word about you being pregnant for the Beta, consider your life gone.”
“Da… dad…” I stuttered, my arms tightening around my belly protectively as tears blurred my vision. This wasn’t real. It couldn’t be, my dad just threatened to kill me.
“I brought you into this world, Aria, and I would take it if need be, you have always been an abomination out of my kids,” he hissed before standing up and walking away like I meant nothing.
I looked up to my older brother Mason, my last hope, the only person I thought would still see me. He looked at me for a brief moment and then slowly shook his head, my heart sank deeper.
“Ma… Mason… Richard is your best friend. I promise I love him so much, he loves me also.”
“Aria,” he said my name and it shut me up instantly.
“Don’t be a selfish b..tch, you know how weak and how much bullying Ava goes through from childhood. Being the mate of the Beta is a great blessing, so I won’t do anything to destroy it.”
That broke me totally, tears rolled freely down my cheeks as I watched my brother, the one who used to hold my hand, who once swore to protect me he turn his back and walk off just like the rest.
Mum just stood there, sighed deeply and shook her head like she was tired of my existence.
“Sorry, Aria… but you need to consider this time, abort the baby and you will get all the attention you always have needed from me,” she said coldly as she bent to help Ava up, her tone soft, her arms gentle.
And right there, I saw it, that stupid victorious smirk on Ava’s face as she leaned against Mum, acting like she was weak, like she was the one hurt, like she didn’t just destroy my whole life. I watched them walk away, leaving me on the cold hard floor, bleeding, crying, and shattered.
They didn’t care that I was pregnant nor currently in pain. All they cared about was Ava, the perfect little actress.
