Mmmm lavender… smells beautiful and delightful… mmm it’s so intoxicating I want more, I need to get close to it… Wait! Where am I?

No answer. Hmph! Why that…! Never got a straight answer from her! Always speaking in cryptic!

Drifting and floating in the darkness, it’s so calm and peaceful here. There’s a bright light ahead I need to go to it. Kicking my legs and pushing with my arms to get closer, getting closer and closer just a little bit more, oh it’s nice and warm in my hands. Closing my eyes I can feel the warmth spreading all over my body like a blanket. Once I feel immersed in the warm blanket, there’s nothing, just utter peace and silence.

Unsure of how many seconds, minutes or hours have passed, it’s nice and peaceful here. Wait. What’s that sound? Focus Kali! Howls? I can hear howls! The sound of howls is the first thing I hear. I can sense the danger of those howls. They can feel the power in me, they know I’m here. I need to get back, I need to take control of the power. The warmth is so nice though… snap out of it Kali that’s not a warm blanket that’s the power taking over.

Fighting to break free, fighting to get back, I need to get back now. Wake up Kali! Wake up! Take control and get back!

My body feels stiff. Wriggling my fingers and my toes, I can feel the warmth entering them, the warmth is spreading from the tip of my fingers and toes and moving to the center of my body.

Wake up Kali

Eyes wide open, laying there looking at the ceiling. I blink once, blink twice, making sure that I’m not going to drift off into the darkness again. The light in the room is dim.

I feel different, I can feel the power surging in my body, it’s trying to take over. My body feels numb making it hard to move. Focusing on raising my arm and holding my hand in the air looking at my cast.

A memory hits me like a wave reminding me, but I’m not affected by it, I’m alright before a sudden wave of heat comes over my body making me uncomfortable.

My eyes look to my left seeing Penny in surprised now turned happy face, she comes closer. Holding my hand.

“Kid, how are you feeling?”

Another wave of heat hits me at full force making me throw my head back and grit my teeth. The numbness in my body is starting to subside but heat is beginning to intensify. I need to control this.

“Kid! Kid! s**t someone call Doc!” letting go of my hand and placing it on my forehead.

I’m hit again by another wave of heat making me squirm. The heat is becoming unbearable. I’m losing focus and losing this fight. I close my eyes and try to focus.

“Fck this I’m not just going to stand here and do nothing.”

I feel soft warm lips caress my skin with a kiss, and the smell of lavender engulf my senses. This is helping me focus but it’s not slowing down the heat.

“Beautiful, tell me what to do.”

“lake..." the only word I can say in reply not knowing who owns the voice but it does sounds familiar. Keeping my eyes closed I try to stay focused.

Two strong arms pick me up bridal style gently and carefully, making me hold and rest my head on the shoulder.

“I got you beautiful.” Then I feel a kiss on my forehead. “Open the sliding door.”

We are moving quickly then a sudden stop, the arms holding me tighten around me, holding me closer to it’s body before it feels like we are falling for a few seconds till it comes to a halt before movement again. The cool air brushing the bare skin of my legs and arms.

Another wave of heat hits me but I’m able to handle it, I can feel we are getting closer to the lake. It is calling out to me in soft whispers.

“Almost there beautiful, hold on.”

Not long after that, I feel the cool water surround my body making me relax. The whispers are chanting in a language I can’t understand but are helping with calming the energy within me. I can feel the heat calming down like a wild fire being tamed.

The sound of the whispers and howls have stopped. The only thing disturbing the silence is the chirping of the morning birds and the soft movements of the water around me.

Feeling better I open my eyes. Before me is a strikingly handsome man. I know this face I’ve seen him once before when I was at the clinic, he’s Nikki’s twin brother, Mason. You can tell they are brothers but not twins, they are non identical twins.

This is the first time seeing every detail on his face, beautiful blue inviting eyes, strong jawline covered in stubbles, his full lips arched upwards creating a perfect gorgeous smile.

I raise my hand to cup his face. This moment is going in slow motion and the anticipation is building. Our faces inching closer and closer, so close now I can feel his breath on my face. I’m in an trance and captivated by this beautiful male…

“Kali, the lake is freezing you’re going to catch a cold.”

Penny’s voice brings me out of my trance state. Looking down at my body I’m wearing next to nothing. The satin slip melded to my body revealing my body, oh my goodness my breasts aren’t saved by the material, a little embarrassed I cover my chest with my arms and I can feel my cheeks heat up making me blush.

He walks us to the floating dock where Nik and Penny are waiting with a robe in her hands. I catch Nikki gives Penny a annoyed glance before looking at me with a smiling.

Mason loosens his hold on me giving space between our bodies. Lifting me up to the dock, without thinking I plant a kiss on his lips making his breathing hitch in surprise leaving him standing there stiff as statue in the water.

“Thank you.” I say as I pull away.

He has a slight look of discomfort on his face. Now I feel like an i***t for thinking we had a moment. He puts me on the dock gently and takes a step back.

Penny helps me up and covers me with the robe.

“Come, you’re freezing and let’s get some food into you.” And wraps her arm around my shoulder leading me back to the house.

Looking over my shoulder back to see Mason submerge his whole body under water.

“He just needs a little time to… cool down.” Nikki giggles leaving me a little confused.

Back in the room Penny turns the shower on and checking the temperature.

“Penny, I can manage thanks.” I’m little annoyed with Mason’s response to the kiss and realizing my tone was a little harsh with Penny “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean it…”

“it’s ok. I will get Sharon to make something for you to eat.” She interrupts me and quickly walks out.

Alone in the bathroom, I quickly remove the garments and enter the warm shower spending some time in there looking at my hands and body, I feel different, I feel energized.

Coming out of the closet dressed and warm from the shower, everyone is standing and talking to Dr.Cheng, I’m assuming they are talking about me. Nik notices me and comes to give me a hug.

“Welcome back girl! Come.” He gets me to sit on the bench.

“Morning Miss Smith.”

“Please Dr.Cheng call me Kali and morning to you also.”

“Alright Kali, call me Doc, that’s what everyone calls me.” He’s smiles at me and I return it with a smile and a nod. “Ok Kali how are feeling?”

“I feel fine honestly, actually better than ever.” Holding my hands up looking at them then seeing the cast “Doc can you remove this please?”

“It needs to stay in for at least…” I cut him off.

“it’s healed doc.” I smile holding my hand out to him.

Doc and everyone in the room are looking at me surprised. I see Mason standing the some distance away from me also looking confused and surprised.

“I know, it’s a long story but it’s healed. Any old scars or injuries I had are now healed.”

Doc cuts the cast open freeing my hand. I roll and bend my wrist back and forth.

“Do you mind if I can do one last check?”

I nod in reply to his question and let him examine me.

“Are you feeling any numbness or pinches in any of your muscles?” I shake my head.

“Honestly Doc, I’m fine.”

“Ok. Well, everything is fine and normal and seems like there’s nothing left for me to do here.” Doc packs his things into his bag “if there isn’t anything else for me to do I will take my leave but if any arises please let me know” Doc smiles at shaking my hand and everyone else in the room then leaves.

I see the food on the coffee table and excitedly skip to the love seat and chomp down on the food. They are all standing and staring at me with confused looks, I ignore it and continue munching on my plate of croissant sandwiches and bacon and eggs on the side. Penny takes a seat next to me on the loveseat.

“Kid, you sure you’re feeling ok?”

I give her a thumbs up as my reply and continue eating. Hoping they will just let me eat in peace for now. Ignoring their stares I continue to eat faster than usual.

I sit back after cleaning my plate and drink the whole glass of juice without breathing and pat my tummy looking like a drunk person, all of a sudden I do a big burp and quickly cover my mouth and giggle.

“Oops sorry”

Feeling super energized I jump up from the chair and skip past Penny and Mason and push the sliding doors back and open my arms.

“Nikki play some music please!”

Nikki turns the TV on and changes it to a music channel, it’s some pop song, I start dancing and moving around the room. Feeling a little hot I take my jumper off and throw it at Mason. Dancing some more I grab Nikki by the hand to dance with me, he’s dancing with me but with a worried look on his face.

“No!” I demand and continue dancing.

“Kid, you ok? Who you talking to?”

I ignore her and continue dancing. Penny, Mason and Nikki who’s now stopped dancing, look at each other.

Kali control the power

“I. SAID. NO!!” yelling furiously.

I’m no longer dancing and standing in the middle of the room so furious. Not sure why I’m so angry but I feel the rage burning inside.

Nikki approaches me putting his hand on my shoulder, he is surprised when I grab his hand and pull him violently past me and kick him square in the tummy sending him flying into the furniture on the balcony. Penny comes running to stop me but is met with a right hook making her stagger to my left, without letting her compose herself I kick her sending her into the same direction as Nikki.

So furious, I take a few steps towards them before I am tackled to the ground by Mason. Trying to wriggle free of his tight bear hug, I’m cursing him like a possessed person. Suddenly my vision is blinded by a big bright light for a few seconds and then nothing.
