Deceitful Love Affair

Kate, 22 years old, with a shapely figure, glossy skin, and midnight black hair plunged over her shoulder, decided to move from the rural where she grew up to where she believed she could achieve her dreams. At first, she was hesitant because she was afraid of uncertainty, but her ambitions brought her the courage to pursue a better life. She is the youngest and the only girl among the three siblings. She is innately witty and knew what she wanted even when she was a kid. When her parents decided to part ways, her aunt was the one who supported her all the way. Her aunt was the first person to believe in Kate's potential. Kate had the most challenging childhood as she was deprived of monetary and emotional support. Eventually, her dad found a new family to spend the rest of his life with while her mom left them for work. Kate and her brothers had no choice but to accept the miserable situation. Her brothers stayed with their other aunties to make ends meet. Kate had the best life among the three siblings because she had a supportive aunt until college. Kate arrived in the city full of hope. She brought a suitcase for her clothes and a backpack for her documents. Kate stayed in her relative's place for free to not spend much as she had only enough budget for job hunting. Kate had to eat once a day to not run out of money. Nevertheless, because of Kate's attractive physical appearance and impressive communication skills, she immediately landed a job of her choice. She showed confidence during interviews and passed all the exams with high scores. Kate applied to three companies with the same position as Marketing Assistant. She made it in all three, but she chose to work in a marketing company. She was checking her emails when her phone rang. "Hello, good morning?" she excitedly answers. "Good morning, Ms. Kate; this is Cloe from AMG Marketing Company. We want to inform you that you passed all the interviews and exams to qualify for the position of Marketing Assistant, Kindly report to the office as soon as possible and submit your requirements." The lady replies. Kate was the happiest when she heard those words. She went to where her documents were and fixed everything right away. She needed to travel for 3 hours to work and longer hours when going home due to heavy traffic. However, Kate is naturally patient when it comes to working. She never thought of the possible hassles she might encounter caused by traveling every day. She opened her suitcase and checked on the clothes she had brought from the province. She saw black fitted long sleeve tops and khaki jeans. She paired it with her 2-inch black heels and tinted her lips and cheeks. Her look was simple yet professional. She had a last glance in the mirror, smiled, then left. She was feeling tense yet excited when she got to the office. That she could finally achieve her dreams and put an end to the battles that she's been through since childhood. Kate was nervous during her first few days with the company. It was her first exposure to different types of people, and she had no idea how to deal with them. Despite this, she established a good relationship with her colleagues. Her cheerful personality and dedication to her job made everyone loves her. She usually spends her free time talking to different department heads to familiarize how every section works, and she could be working with them until she meets Migs. Migs is the company's project manager who handles a senior manager position. He is in charge of ensuring the successful implementation of projects. His undergraduate course was Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA), major in Marketing. After that, he took up his MBA in one of the most prominent schools in the country. He is tall, physically fit, and loves playing basketball. Migs is 27 years old and five years ahead of Kate. Migs was the first person who guided Kate during her first few days at her first job. Kate doesn't work directly with Migs because, as a marketing assistant, Kate must get more clients and assist the existing ones. Sometimes, she does fieldwork, especially when she meets a new client for a presentation. The Marketing Officer is her direct superior. Though Migs and Kate don't work together directly, Migs always make it a point to check on Kate regularly as his office is adjacent to Kate's. "How are you today, Kate."- Migs asks Kate showing her teeth with braces. "All good, Migs."- Kate hesitantly replies. Kate's focus is to achieve her goals, and engaging herself in a romantic relationship is her least priority and being around Migs makes her uncomfortable. One afternoon while Kate was busy packing up her things. Migs went to her, and an earthly scent swirled around him. "Can we have dinner tonight, Kate?" Migs asks. "Thanks for the invite, Migs. But I need to go home early because I have a family commitment today," Kate answers showing her sweetest smile on her face with her pair of dimples. "No worries, I hope you could spare an hour with me when you are free." Migs positively replies. Kate becomes more uneasy after the dinner invitation of Migs. She tries to stay away from him and focus on her job. "Kate, are you the one handling Mr. Sizon's account?"- asks Migs to Kate. "Yes, I just got, it and I haven't had the time to review it. Do you need anything from that account?"- Kate replies with a soft voice. "Never mind. Thank you."-Migs answers and proceeds to fix his stuff as a sign that the conversation with her is over. The treatment of Migs to Kate becomes cold after the rejected invitation. However, Kate is not bothered about it because she wants to get rid of him, after all. Migs usually stays at his office in the morning to accomplish administrative work and leave early in the afternoon to see the progress of different project he handles. He usually throws jokes to Kate before he leaves the office, but he quietly passes by Kate's desk this time. One day, Ms. A, the superior of Kate, called her for a meeting. Kate was nervous about it because it is unusual to have a one-on-one meeting with her. Ms. A is quite strict when it comes to the delivery of KPI. So they stayed in the conference room for the meeting. And the meeting was all about Kate's regularization. "Congratulations, Kate."- was the opening statement of Ms. A. "You worked so hard since you started, and you deserve to get this. You will be in a regular status starting on the 1st day next month. You are expected to continue to deliver excellence"-Ms. A continues. Kate consistently shows excellent performance at work. As a result, she was the first who receive an award in the marketing department as a rookie employee of the month. The award is given to employees who showed exemplary activities that are helpful in the company's success. Getting such an award after four months of employment is a big deal. "Congratulations, Kate." -a familiar voice from the conference door. Migs is leaning on the door with hands in his pockets. He throws a wink at them and leaves. Kate is unstoppable and continues to be an inspiration to everyone at work. She got promoted after one year of employment. Kate saw a congratulatory letter placed on her table. "Dear Ms. Kate, congratulations on your promotion from Marketing Assistant to Marketing Officer position." Kate read it with her eyes. "Congratulations, Kate" Migs excitedly greets Kate with a smile. Migs was with his white collared shirt, skinny black jeans, and white sneakers. "Thank you."-Kate replies.
