Deceitful Love Affair

Chapter 111- The First Goodbye

"Hello babe, how are you?"-Migs calls Kate on her first day at her new company while driving to the office. He is in his executive look as he needs to attend a series of management meetings every Monday. He is wearing his white long sleeve with tie and black jeans paired with black leather shoes. He accessorized his Monday looks with his Rolex watch and Police shades.

"Hi, I'm doing great. I am a bit nervous, but I know I will be fine."-Kate excitedly tells Migs. Kate is wearing a glamorous sleeveless black fitted dress and covered with a red signature coat, above knee level with her 3-inch stiletto. Simple stud earrings and a tiny watch which Migs gifted, have completed the looks. " I have to go now. My meeting with the management committee will start in 15 minutes."-Then Kate hangs up the phone.

Kate had to meet different heads of different departments with whom she will work on her first day. She has also had the chance to meet the marketing team that she will be leading. Her wide experience in marketing has brought her the confidence she has right now. She also decided to live with Migs so save time.

"How was your day?"- Migs asks while on their home from work. Migs promised Kate to drive her to work and fetch him in the afternoon so they could go home together.

"It was great. It excites me when I knew that they are facing challenges in their marketing communication. Sales fell for the past three years and they believe that marketing is something that they need to address."- Kate shares to Migs while continuously looking for something in her bag.

"What happened to the Marketing Manager before you joined them?"- Migs continues as he is focusing his eyes on the road.

"She resigned when the management pressed her to provide a thorough explanation about the matter."- Kate answers. "My first step would be to analyze the marketing activity history and its return. I will be busier in the coming days, I hope you will understand that."-Kate says.

"What's for dinner, babe?"- Kate asks Migs when they arrive home. "I'm tired, and I just want to go to sleep. I will also have an early meeting tomorrow."- Kate continues while removing her earrings in front of her vanity table positioned beside their bed.

"I can order online if you wish to. What do you have in mind, babe?"- Migs answers while seated beside Kate. Migs moves closer to Kate and gives a gentle kiss on her neck and ears while whispering, "I love you, babe. You are the best thing that has ever happened to me." says Migs.

Kate gets thrilled with the gestures of Migs, and she starts to throw her kisses at him.

"Don't order for food anymore. I will have to take a shower and rest. Are you coming with me?" Kate says as she playfully stares at Migs.

"Who doesn't want to be with you during the shower?"-Migs excitedly answers Kate as he removes his top in front of her. "I know you've been waiting for this to happen. Now I am fulfilling one of your dreams."-Migs jokingly say it to Kate.

Migs and kate both had a good sleep. And living together on one roof makes them more secure for each other.

The life of Kate is now far from what she had when she first met Migs. The simple lady from the rural becomes an elegant, refined, and fantastic lady with a successful career in the corporate world. The shy lady who didn't want to hang out with the elite guys can now confidently deal with them. The lady riding the bus when going to work now owns a Toyota Fortuner. Her exposure to different people and her high level of dedication has changed her. She becomes a more confident and independent woman.

Migs remains in his position as a senior manager in his company. Nevertheless, he saw how Kate progressed professionally and personally. He assures Kate that he will always be by her side no matter what happens. However, he never thought that her success would also hurt their relationship.

"Babe, I will be attending a conference in Singapore next week. It is about the opening of the new store in there."- Kate happily tells Migs while on their way to celebrate their first anniversary.

"When did you know that you will be having a conference? I booked a flight to Siargao for our celebration since you have been busy for almost a month now."-Migs sadly answers Kate.

"Just today. And it has been finalized already as the suppliers will be staying in Singapore for two days only. So I don't have a choice but to be there and attend the conference." Annoyance is now evident in Kate's voice and facial expression.

"What a way to celebrate our First Anniversary, Kate."- Migs says. "I've been supporting you ever since you started because I believe that your success is my success, and your failure is mine too. I want nothing but the best for you but, can you spare time for us as well?"-Migs continues.

Kate prefers to stay calm and keep quiet while listening to Migs. Kate is an independent woman, and she doesn't let anything stop her from achieving her dreams, not even her life partner. Kate doesn't want anybody to control her life but her. She is the type of lady who prioritizes her family more than anything.

Migs is every lady's dream. He almost has everything in life, and most of all, he was raised with great character.

"Are you telling me that I need to disregard the conference because you already booked our trip to Siargao? Is that what you mean, Migs?"-Kate says with disappointment in her voice. "You promised me that you would support me all the way. Where are those promises now, Migs?"-Kate continues.

"You are blinded with your success, Kate? Please don't forget that I am also here, loving you, caring, and cheering for you all the time. I also have work, but I never let a day passes without making you feel that you are everything to me."-Migs reduces his voice and holds Kate's hand.

Kate's tears are falling, and she has difficulty composing herself to get the right words for Migs.

"Migs, you know how much I love you. But if my presence would hurt you over and over. Maybe it's time to call it quits."- Kate whispers. "You've been too good to me, and I cannot promise you if I can reciprocate the love that you have for me. I know you deserve nothing but the best in life. Thank you for everything, Migs. You are a huge part of my success." Kate continues sobbing.

Migs is speechless. He drives the car back home.

Kate gets some of her things at Migs' condo and left.
