“Oh my goodness! Mr Richard Swift is in town! Miss Yolanda is also with him!”
“This has to be the best news ever!”
“He throws money off as if it's just a piece of paper”
“His fiance is adorable!”
“I wish he can look towards me”
He heard the attendants say among themselves as they watched the beauty and her fiancée walk out of their car.
It turned out that Richard Swift is one of the city's controlling businessman that controlled half of the city's assets and has many partners at his beck and call. Money didn't mean anything to him and so far, there has been no scandals to his name.
Safe to say he was living a perfect life. That stuck Aiden. He knew the man. The same one who had accused him a few years ago of being nothing but an imbecile for looking at his woman while they were on a friendly terms on behalf of his company.
Just as Aiden shook his head and was about to enter the phone store, someone directly pushed him out of his way. The moment he regained his balance, he was shocked to see Richard's fiancé, Yolanda.
“Get the hell off. Hmph!” She screamed with a sneer. It didn't take a minute before several attendants rushed towards her as if they had been called and hurriedly lowered their heads.
“We are really sorry for any inconvenience. Please let us help you in”
“No, it's fine!” She said harshly with a hint of pride and walked into the exclusive store as she tucked her hair carefully behind her head. Only then did Aiden shook his head and walk inside.
However, the moment he was about to pick up a product, he was able to glance at Yolanda whom he stared at from a distance. Why did it seem like her face was extremely familiar?
Did the accident he had caused him to lose his memories to the extent that he could barely recognise people?
He wondered. Then, it suddenly clicked. The beauty Queen at Royal College, Carolina who renamed herself as Yolanda! It turned out that she had always flicked around wealthy men because she was beautiful.
One time, Aiden had an encounter with her when he asked to meet her after class because he was in love with her friend.
Twisting his words, she set up a rumor in the school media stating that a useless man like him was in love with her. The same Aiden who had nothing to do with fame suddenly became negatively infamous and bullied. That wasn't all.
Since the Vice Chancellor of the school had always had a thing against him, the man decided to use the moment to have him grounded stating that his behaviour was unethical.
“Carolina?” Aiden called out surprised before he released a chuckle tucked at the corner of the lips. Sensing that name, she stood frozen.
That was her past and she didn't think she wanted to hear it again. Not even after she had caught a big fish and was set to get married soon! In fact, she had hired fake parents to replace her poor parents so they won't give off that silly poor background!
Who then would dare to call her by her former name?
She thought and turned around. Breathing in relief, she saw that her fiancé was engrossed in a business call.
Then, she turned around to see the person she never thought she would meet again - Aiden!
Boiling in anger, she sneered at him and walked towards him.
“Who the hell do you think you are, you poor stricken thing?”
“What? Yolanda?” He asked with a chuckle. He didn't expect that people would change so soon. Then, Aiden looked towards her fiancé and shook his head.
“What do you think will happen if your lover finds out what you did to me back then or how you supposedly changed your name to fit in?”
“How much do you want? I know you saw me from afar and want money! You should count your stars that I am not about to throw a useless person like you into jail!” She threatened in a fury while Aiden chuckled again.
He understood that people still looked down on him but it shouldn't be towards this extent!
Not even from someone like her who was a fraud.
“You want to send me to jail? You're free!” He said with a shrug as he crossed his arms. Now that he had the money, who would dare to send him to jail?
After all, the country only favoured the wealthy and they were placed above the law.
A look of shock became evident on Yolanda's face. Wasn't this the same person who would always beg for scramb back then? He didn't look like someone that had money.
Hurriedly, she brought out a few grand from her purse and threw it at him.
“If you do not want me to continue what I did to you in the past, get the f**k out of here!” She said again, her anger getting the best part of her while he smiled..
“I am here to shop just like you!”
“Are you a pest? Do you still think I will link you up to my friend? You're just a fool. Our class do not match anymore. Don't you understand that?”
Suddenly, there was a sudden news flash on the TV that slightly disrupted the peace of everyone in the shop while her fiance was still on a call.
“Your fiancé seems disturbed!”
“It's just work. Something you can not relate to!” She concluded harshly.
Then, another news became evident.
“Swift cooperation involved in major fraud stealing the shares of the major shareholders.”
“Richard Swift to leave position as soon as possible!”
Everyone gasped in shock. Was this not the same man they adored a while ago? He was going bankrupt and would no longer be the CEO?
“See? It seems we are back on the same level” Aiden said and released a short laughter while Yolanda sneered as she folded her palms so tight that it became sweaty. She couldn't believe that the same man who did not have the nerves to talk to her in the past could look down on her.
She knew her fiancé’s business was struggling and majority of the investors pulled out but it just hadn't gone public. Why should the news be out by now?
Seeing that people were pointing hands at her, Aiden smiled.
“I can help your fiancé because I can see that you desperately want to be on top.” He proposed. At this moment, Richard happened to hear what he said because he had gotten in time to take Yolanda away from the store. He couldn't afford to be a bit embarrassed not even from people whom they were not on the same class.
“Young man, what did you just say?” The man asked in disgust. He couldn't believe that something like this was happening to him to the extent that a poor man like Aiden would propose an offer.
What did he have to give him? A house in the ghetto? Poor people! Just because he had a small issue, it gives him the right to think they were in the same level?
Aiden could not even afford every breakfast he eats!
“I'm willing to help you as an investor provided that the name of the company be changed and I will be the main shareholder!”
