"I'm back, Lily," Ethan said.

"For what? You disappeared for five years without a word, leaving me alone to give birth to your child and raise him. And now you say you're back? What kind of joke is this?" Lily snapped.

On their wedding night, Ethan left without a word to join the military, hoping to make himself worthy of being Lily's husband. Now, after five years, he’s returned in glory, expecting a warm welcome. But instead, he’s met with harsh rejection. Worse, he's being forced into a divorce because Lily is set to marry someone else—something that sends Ethan into a rage.

This version flows more smoothly and still retains the original meaning.

Chapter1
At the Veloria Military Airport "Farewell, God of War!" The soldiers, standing in neat formation with their hands raised in salute, bid farewell to the God of War seated in a military jeep. Today, Ethan Hunter, the youngest God of War in history, is ending his military career. He has decided to return to his hometown to atone for his mistakes toward his wife. "They came out in droves and stood for hours just to say goodbye to you. They love you so much, God of War!" remarked Max, Ethan's right-hand man, who was sitting in the front passenger seat. Ethan felt deeply moved by the loyalty and affection of his men. "I love them too, Max. They’re all exceptional soldiers," Ethan responded, clearly touched. The bond between Ethan and his soldiers felt as though it had been forged over decades, even though he had only been in the military for five years and had been the God of War for just two. "Are you really sure about quitting and going home, God of War?" Max inquired. "Aresgrad is now the strongest nation. No one dares to disturb its peace anymore. That means my mission is complete," Ethan said with confidence. Ethan took a deep breath and continued, "Besides, it’s been five years since I left my wife. I need to go back and make things right with her. And… confront those responsible for everything." Ethan stepped out of the jeep and saluted his soldiers one last time. Afterward, he boarded his private jet. Inside the plane, Ethan pulled a photo of a woman from his wallet. It was Lily Evans, the woman he had married five years ago. Suddenly, his mood darkened as painful memories began to flood back. "She’s beautiful, nurturing, and looks incredibly smart. She’s the perfect woman for you, God of War. You two make the perfect couple," Max commented when he caught sight of the photo Ethan was holding. With a faint smile, Ethan replied, "Thanks, Max. Lily really is beautiful, gentle, and incredibly smart. Even while she was still in college, she founded her own company, which she named Sterling Group. But sadly…" Ethan’s words faltered. The memory of how Lily lost her company still stung. Back then, Ethan, who was working as a dockworker, was drugged and knocked unconscious, only to be taken to a hotel where Lily, also unconscious, had already been placed. They were made to appear as though they had been intimate. The next morning, news of Lily being with a dockworker spread like wildfire in the city of Lunaris. Sterling Group’s stock plummeted, and to minimize the damage, Lily’s father announced her marriage to Ethan. However, after the wedding, the Evans family went ahead and forcibly took over Sterling Group. "Soon, you’ll be with her again, God of War," Max said. "I’m going to make her happy and reclaim Sterling Group, which was stolen from her," Ethan vowed, his voice full of determination. After a six-hour flight, Ethan finally arrived in Lunaris, his hometown, filled with memories. Stepping off the plane, Ethan took a deep breath. The air was crisp and fresh, typical of the highlands. Yes, Lunaris was situated at an altitude of 1,000 to 1,300 meters above sea level, making it one of the coldest cities in Aresgrad. As they were about to leave the airport, Ethan noticed a little girl, around five years old, crying. "Mommy… where are you? Mommy… I’m scared!" Max was slightly startled when he saw the girl’s face. "God of War!" Max called out. In a sharp tone, Ethan replied, "We’re in Lunaris now. Don’t call me God of War or General. Just use my name." Seeing the seriousness in Ethan’s eyes, Max didn’t dare argue. "Brother Ethan, that little girl looks a lot like you. Could she be one of your relatives?" Max asked. Ethan looked at the girl. He didn’t recognize her, but for some reason, hearing her sob made his heart ache, as though he had a deep connection to her. Ethan approached the little girl, but when he got closer, he was stunned by what she said. "Daddy!" the girl, named Emma, cried out. Emma had seen pictures of Ethan and Lily’s wedding before, so she recognized Ethan’s face quite well. Ethan stood frozen, staring at the girl with her large, innocent eyes. After a moment, he knelt down and said, "I’m sorry, sweetheart, but I’m not your daddy. You must be mistaken." Hearing this, Emma immediately burst into tears again. "Daddy doesn’t acknowledge me. He doesn’t want me!" Emma’s cries were loud enough to draw the attention of the people around them. They all glared at Ethan with disdain, thinking he was an irresponsible man. Ethan began to panic. In Veloria, he was known as the God of War, a protector of the people, but here, he looked like an arrogant man. "Hey, calm down. Come with me!" Ethan said softly. He picked Emma up and carried her to the airport security office. Instantly, Emma’s crying stopped. She felt so comfortable in Ethan’s arms that she clung tightly to him, as though she never wanted to be let go. "I’d like to report a missing child. She’s looking for her mother," Ethan told the security officer when they reached the office. Ethan set Emma down and left her there with the security staff. "Brother Ethan, why didn’t you just take the little girl with you? She seems to like you a lot," Max asked, walking behind Ethan. "If she didn’t have parents, I would take her. But she has a mother who’s probably looking for her. How could I separate a child from her mother?" Ethan replied. Max fell silent. Not long after, a beautiful woman in formal attire came rushing into the security office after hearing the announcement about a missing child named Emma. "Emma!" Lily immediately embraced Emma, who was sitting on the couch, crying. "I’m so sorry, Emma. I was careless. I won’t leave you alone again," Lily whispered as she comforted her daughter. "Mommy, I saw Daddy. He was here, and he carried me, Mommy," Emma said excitedly. Emma’s words left Lily in shock. "What? Daddy?" Emma nodded sadly. "Yes, but he didn’t want me. He just left." Hearing her daughter’s words made Lily tremble. The woman, with her long jet-black hair flowing down her back, felt as though she had been struck by lightning. The memory of the man who left her on their wedding day resurfaced, reopening the wound in her heart. Especially when she remembered that he left after asking for $500,000. ***** Author’s Note: Thank you so much for reading and being part of this journey!
