Chapter 26

Lucas’s POV

I can’t believe I lost control like that and said I wanted her back. I need to call Yara. I don’t know what I am doing and I haven’t talked to her since she left.

Of course, I called and her phone went right to voicemail. She hasn’t called or returned any of my calls. I decided it was enough and I called her maid of honor.

“Hhhello?”

“Autumn? Where is Yara?”

“Uh well...... um you see, she is um.”

“SPIT IT OUT!” I said in my Alpha tone.

“She is with her mate.” Autumn blurted out.

I was in a daze. I didn’t know what to say. “Did they mark each other?”

“Listen, Lucas, this isn’t my place, you should hear this from her and not me.”

“How the hell am I supposed to do that when she doesn’t answer my calls?”

“We are supposed to fly home tonight but we haven’t seen her.”

“Autumn I would suggest you get on that plane because I am canceling the card she has and the hotel will not be paid.” I didn’t wait for a response. I hung up the phone.

I dialed the bank and canceled the credit card. She couldn’t even call me and tell me she had found her mate. I didn’t even think how she would react if she found her mate. I guess I do now. How did this all get so messed up?

I sat in the same spot for about 30 minutes before my phone started ringing. I looked at the screen and saw Yara’s name. Funny now that the money is cut off, she decided to call me.

“What?”

“LLucas?”

“What Yara?”

“I’m sorry it just happened. I didn’t mean to but he is my mate. You would understand if you found your mate.”

"Did you mark each other?"

"Lucas, he is my mate and the bond is amazing."

"I didn't ask about the bond. I asked if you marked each other."

"Yes."

"I gave up everything for you.....It’s fine he can figure out how to take care of you.”

“Lucas, please he doesn’t have that kind of money. I just need a few days to figure it out.”

“No. Goodbye Yara. I never want to see you again.” I hung up the phone. I couldn’t believe she was calling to ask for money.

She kept calling and sending me messages to the point I had to block her contact.

I knew the only person I wanted to see right now was Liv. I had no right to see her but I was selfish and I made my way to the door.

Liv’s POV

I was exhausted from shopping but so happy I found the perfect dress. It was simple and fit me like it had been sewn on my body.

Now all I wanted was some cuddle time with Bryan.

I felt his arms wrap around me from behind. “I have missed you.” He said as he kissed down my neck.

I turned around and placed my lips on his. Briefly pulling away to say, “I missed you more.”

Causing him to deepen his kiss.

He pulled away, causing me to frown. “Lucas told everybody he is your first mate.”

I watched as I saw a bit of sadness in his eyes, almost even a bit of fear. “Bryan, you are my mate and it doesn’t matter if he told everybody or not. I’m yours and you are mine.”

My words didn’t seem to make him feel better and I knew it was because of what happened with his first mate.

Before I could make him feel better, there was a knock at the door. A few moments later, my father returned with Lucas.

With Bryan's arm around me, I turned and smiled. “How can I help you, Alpha Lucas?”

“Do you think we could talk in private?”

“About what?” I didn't want to talk in private with him, but looking in his eyes I could see pain and regret. Then it dawned on me. When could I read emotions so easily through eyes.

“I just need to talk to you. I have messed up so badly and I just…..please.”

I looked over to see how confused my parents looked. Following my eyes, Lucas saw the same thing. He turned to my parents and said, “I am her first mate. The i***t that rejected her. I don’t deserve her but I just want to talk.”

I watched as anger flooded both of my parents. Finally, my dad spoke. “You are right, you don’t deserve her.”

Bryan never removed his hand, filling me with strength. He leaned down and whispered in my ear. “If you want closure you can have it.”

I looked up at him and could feel his love. I placed a kiss on his lips. “Fine Alpha Lucas, I will give you a few minutes.”
