Chapter 14

The four of us made our way to the dining hall. I could feel my excitement building. I couldn’t wait to spend time with Bryan. As soon I entered the room, I looked for him but he wasn’t in the room yet. We sat down and doubts started running through my head. Maybe he realized I wasn’t good enough. Maybe he was just being nice at lunch. **Mind Link** “Hey, calm down. He will be here. We are early.” I looked over at Demetri and he smiled. “Thanks, I need that.” As soon as he walked in, he looked right at me and smiled. I could feel my excitement building again. I couldn’t wait for dinner to be over. I was so nervous I didn’t have much of an appetite but I forced myself to eat. Before I knew it, Demetri, Oli, and Mateo were standing to leave. “Have a good time.” Mateo said with a wink. I watched as Bryan stood and made his way to me. He put his hand out waiting for me to put my hand in his. I didn’t hesitate to place my hand in his. “I have been looking forward to him all day.” I felt butterflies in my belly. “Me too.” We made our way outside and started walking past the barn-looking buildings. “Are you nervous about your first day of training?” “More excited, but yeah, a little bit nervous.” He smiled down at me. “I am sure you will do amazing.” “I hope so.” “Tell me Olivia, why do you want to be an Elite?” “When I was four, the King and his Elite came to our pack. The Elite were amazing and I wanted to be one. But I realized today I might also have some family issues that pushed me to want to be an Elite.” “Yeah, what would those be?” “That is a story for another time.” “So I can have more time with you?” I felt my heart start to beat faster. “You want to spend more time with me?” I meant to come out louder but it came out as a whisper. He seemed surprised. “You have no idea, do you?” The confusion was clear on my face. “No.” “How about we get to know each other?” “Wait, are you not going to tell me?” “No, not yet.” “Why?” I was so confused. “Because I don’t want to force your hand.” “Listen Mr. Green eyes, you are just confusing me even more now.” “Mr. Green eyes?” “Oh um yeah, before I knew your name I was mesmerized by your eyes. They are amazing. But don't change the subject.” “You have a weakness for my eyes?” I couldn’t help but role my eyes at him causing him to burst out laughing. Seriously, is there anything about this man that isn’t sexy? For the next two hours we spent finding out about each other. He was the third son of the River Ash Pack's Alpha. He had also been rejected by his mate, which again shocked me, but I noticed it seemed to be common for the Elite members to have some kind of life-changing event happen to them. I guess I should be thanking my parents and my mate. When I tried to ask about his family, he said that was a story for another day. I didn’t want our time together to end, but we both had to be up early and he didn’t want me to be tired for my first day. We walked slowly to the third floor and I really wish my door was at the end of the hall instead of the second door. “Thank you for tonight.” I said awkwardly, standing in front of my door. “It was my pleasure,” he said as he placed his hand on my cheek. He leaned down and pressed his lips to mine. The kiss started off soft and slowly became more aggressive. He pulled back, making me miss the feel of him instantly. “I will see you at breakfast.” All I could do was nod my head yes. This kiss was even better than when I kissed my mate. Or maybe it was all in my head that it was better. All I knew was I was happy.
