Chapter 6

Bursting through the back door, I found my mom in the kitchen cooking like crazy and she had 2 of the packs omega’s helping her. “Hey Mom! What’s going on?” “Oh hi pumpkin. I am working on a special dinner.” My heart swelled. A special dinner for me? “Awesome, do you need any help?” “That would be great. I need to make sure everything is perfect. It’s the first time your sister is coming home as a Luna.” Just like that, my heart broke a little. “Oh is Haisley coming home?” “Yes, and I have missed her. It’s been two months since I have seen her.” “Yeah, but you talk to her every day.” “Pumpkin, that isn’t the same. But can you help Carla?” I proceeded to help Carla and try my best to fight the jealousy building in me. As soon as I finished helping Carla, I made my way upstairs and jumped in the shower. I felt like crying but my training kicked in and I pushed down all of my emotions. I felt like I was on auto pilot as I got out of the shower and got ready for my sister’s dinner. I picked out a simple white sun dress and curled my hair. I heard the doorbell and, instead of making my way downstairs, I continued fixing my makeup. I slowly made my way downstairs to find everybody already sitting around the table and dinner had already started. I made my way to my seat and sat down. It was almost as if I wasn’t even in the room. “Haisley, what is this exciting news you have?” My mom asked, full of excitement. Hailsey looked over at her husband, Alpha David. He grabbed her hand and smiled back. They really were the perfect couple. “I’m pregnant!” Excitement filled the room. “Oh, this is the best news! Tell me everything.” My Mom gushed. “I am 17 weeks and we are having a little boy.” “The next Alpha.” Alpha David added. “We have to go shopping for my first grandson. I am so excited. How about tomorrow, Haisley? We can spend the entire day together just the two of us.” “That is a great idea Mom.” “Umm Mom?” “Yes Liv?” “I thought maybe we could spend a little bit of time together tomorrow.” “Liv, don’t be selfish.” My mom said in a harsh tone that made me snap. “Why would wanting to spend a few hours with my own Mother be selfish? I will be leaving for at least 5 months. I don’t even know when I will be able to call.” “Liv, that is enough.” My Father sternly said. I knew it was because they didn’t want to be embarrassed in front of the Alpha. “It’s fine I get it. I’m not as smart and talented as her twins, I’m not a Beta and I won’t be the daughter to marry an Alpha. Oh wait, I won’t even have a mate because I wasn’t even good enough for him.” “Liv.” Noah tried to reach me and calm me down. I yanked my arm away. “Don’t just forget it.” I rushed out of the house and ran towards the Pack house. I entered the pack house and headed straight up the stairs to Wyatt’s room. When I got to the top of the stairs, I saw Lucas coming out of his room. I walked right past him and knocked on Wyatt’s door. I could feel Lucas staring at me, but I didn’t care. I just needed to see my best friend. It felt like forever before he opened the door. I rushed in and threw my arms around him. “Hey Hey doll, what’s wrong?” “I just needed to see you.” “I know that isn’t all, but I will allow it.” We sat in his room and chatted. I told him about my mom and how upset I was, since she didn’t even seem to care I was leaving for months. He didn’t judge, he just held me and let me vent. Before I knew it, it was almost midnight. I had blocked out any mind links the second I rushed out of my house. I know Wyatt told Noah I was with him so he wouldn’t worry. “Can I stay with you tonight Wyatt?” “Of course babe. I will get a shirt to sleep in.” I changed and curled up in bed with Wyatt.
