Being a Werewolf in a Lycan World

My whole life all I heard about was how transitioning into a werewolf would change my life but nothing was able to prepare me for what I went through. They always said the pain would be worth it in the end and they were right. The past few months have been hectic. I went from being a high school girl to being the top female in the pack. It was my turn on patrol with one of the older werewolves, Christian. He was running on the West side while I covered the East. We were making sure no one came on to our land without our knowledge. I felt someone trying to mind link with me. ‘When you get back Ryan and I want to talk in the office.’ It was my brother Tyler. ‘Okay, what’s going on?’ ‘Nothing to worry about. We will talk when you get back.’ There were only a few minutes left until my patrol was over. They don’t normally interrupt me though. I started running back to our meeting spot to meet with the next shift. They were walking through the woods. ‘How was everything?’ Lorenzo said. ‘Good. Nothing to report.’ I said. Christian and I walked back to the village. Having mind link already connected when we are on patrol made it easy to talk to each other but it did suck that they could hear your every thought. For me personally, I was able to push most of my thoughts out of my head as we were patrolling. It was easy when you had something important to focus on but also it was hard to stress over things while running through the woods. I went behind the tree to change back into my clothes. “Do you want me to walk you home?” Christian offered. “I actually have to go to the packhouse.” I said. Christian nodded his head. “I’ll catch you tomorrow.” He said. We walked our separate ways. Tyler was talking to another werewolf as I walked up. He nodded his head at me before ending the conversation. We exchanged hellos and goodbyes. Tyler walked silently to Ryan’s office. Ryan was looking through some papers when we opened the door. “Hey Lex.” Ryan said. He put his papers down and leaned back a little. “What’s up?” I asked. Tyler sat in the chair beside me. “The Lycan King and part of his pack are going to come stay here for a couple nights. They are going to talk to a neighboring village who just lost their alpha but their village is too small to hold the Lycans.” Ryan said. I leaned forward. A thousand thoughts started running through my head. They have never stopped here before. Ryan’s parents met the last Lycan King one time. They had to go to Toronto to meet them. It was the first time in generations, the Lycan’s invited our small village to one of their meetings. Ryan raised his eyebrow at me when I didn’t respond. “Sorry. That just took me by surprise. When?” I said. “They will arrive on Friday.” He said. “Two days from now!?” I asked. He nodded his head at me. “We need you to help Laney with preparations. She will need help with the staff and please make sure she picks out a suitable outfit.” He said. I nodded my head. Laney was Ryan’s mate. She was a year ahead of me in school. She was always keen to Ryan. As soon as she turned 18, they realized they were mates. We always got along despite our different personalities. Tyler looked at me with a crocked smile on his face. “What?” I asked. “You also need to, ya know dress like a girl.” Tyler said. I looked down at my baby blue shorts and sweatshirt. The boys started laughing. I grabbed the ball off the desk and threw it at Tyler. It hit him and he fell back off the desk. “I was joking!” “Regardless of what you wear you always look gorgeous. Ty might be wrong in the way he said it but I will need you to look a little less like one of the guys.” Ryan said. “You are so luck you are my alpha and I can’t fight you.” I said. He licked his lip. “I am your beta! You can’t be treating me this way either.” Tyler said. I kicked him as he moved closer to me. He wrapped his arm around my neck and pulled me into him. “I’m so glad I have you two crazy idiots. My life would be so boring without you.” Ryan said with a proud smile on his face. Laney came walking into the office. “There’s my lovely girl.” “Hey! What’s going on?” She asked. I elbowed Tyler and he released his hold. “Long story short, the Lycan King and some of his men are coming to stay here for a couple nights. As future Luna, it is technically your responsibility to make sure that spare rooms are set up, that there are plenty of nice meals prepared for them and the cleaning needs to be very extreme tomorrow.” Ryan said laying everything out quickly. I felt Laney’s body tense from beside me. Her heart rate jumped a little. “Sorry my dear. That was a lot of information to give you at one time. If you would like Alexana can help you.” She grabbed my hand. “Would you please?” She said. I nodded my head. She wiped her forehead in relief. “We should start right away. Is there anything else you need from us?” “No. That is everything.” Ryan said. He looked at Tyler who nodded his head. “We have a few meetings with some of the village and then a village meeting in the yard tonight to tell everyone what is going on. You two can start planning. It will be important for both of you to be at the meeting.” I nodded my head. Laney and I got up and left the office. “Where should we start?” Laney asked. “I believe it would make the most sense to talk to the chef. He will need to make sure he has enough food for everyone. Then the cleaning staff.” I said.
