My heart slammed up against my ribcage. “What? What is it? What happened? Are you hurt?”
“No. Nothing like that. There was this really bright flash of light from out of nowhere... Blinded me for a few seconds... It’s gone now.”
There was a lot of interference coming through the Com and it was hard to hear him.
“What do you mean? Is there another Digger in there?” I checked the Nav Computer for signs of other Diggers in the area. “There’s nothing on my screen.”
“No. No one. There’s nothing… No more light from any dir…” The static wiped out his voice.
I continued to scan the information on the screen. “It’s hard to hear you. I have nothing in that area on screen. There should be no one near you at all.”
He sighed heavily. “Then I don’t know what it was.”
I sighed too. It didn’t make a
