Chapter 11 WHEN SHAWNA WOKE UP the next day, it was with renewed determination for everything to work out. She would go to the ball thrown for the prince’s birthday. She had to go—it was the only way she was going to be able to talk to the king without being presented by the nobility. But, to go to the ball, Shawna had to dress the part. She would never be allowed through the palace gates—let alone into the ballroom—if she didn’t look like all the other ladies that would attend. She didn’t have any money to speak of, and stealing a dress was vastly different from stealing food. It just wasn’t something that was readily available.
