With a sense of determination, Arianna picked up her phone and dialed a number. It was a number she had been avoiding all day, but she knew that she couldn't avoid it any longer.
"Hello?" a voice answered on the other end of the line.
Arianna took a deep breath before speaking. "Lucas, it's Arianna. I need to talk to you."
There was a pause on the other end of the line before Lucas spoke up. "Arianna, what's going on? You sound upset."
Arianna hesitated, unsure of how to explain the situation. But she knew that she had to tell Lucas the truth.
"It's my mother," Arianna said, her voice shaking. "She's sick, Lucas. She needs treatment, but we can't afford it."
Lucas's voice was filled with concern. "Arianna, I'm so sorry. What can I do to help?"
Arianna took a deep breath before answering. "I've been offered a deal, Lucas. A deal that could save my mother's life."
There was a pause on the other end of the line before Lucas spoke up. "What kind of deal, Arianna?"
Arianna hesitated, unsure of how to explain the situation. But she knew that she had to tell Lucas the truth.
"I've been asked to marry Dickson Logan," Arianna said, her voice barely above a whisper.
There was a pause on the other end of the line before Lucas spoke up. "Arianna, no. You can't marry him."
Arianna felt a sense of relief wash over her. Lucas understood. He knew that she couldn't marry Dickson Logan.
But as she listened to Lucas's words, Arianna realized that she wasn't sure if she could trust him. Was he really looking out for her best interests, or did he have an ulterior motive?
As the conversation came to a close, Arianna couldn't shake off the feeling that she was trapped in a web of deceit. She didn't know who to trust, or what to do.
But she knew that she had to make a decision, and fast. The clock was ticking, and Arianna stood in front of the mirror, staring at her reflection. She was dressed in a stunning white wedding gown, her hair styled perfectly, and her makeup flawless. But despite her beautiful appearance, Arianna felt like she was dying inside.
She thought back to the events that had led her to this moment. The diagnosis, the proposal, the ultimatum. It all seemed like a blur now, a never-ending nightmare that she couldn't wake up from.
As she looked at herself in the mirror, Arianna felt a sense of detachment. She was marrying a man she didn't love, a man who was only using her for his own gain. And she was doing it all for her mother, who lay in a hospital bed, fighting for her life.
Arianna took a deep breath, trying to calm her nerves. She knew what she had to do. She would go through with the wedding, no matter how much it hurt. For her mother's sake, she would sacrifice her own happiness.
But as she turned to leave the room, Arianna caught a glimpse of herself in the mirror. And for a moment, she saw a glimmer of the girl she used to be, the girl who had dreams and aspirations, the girl who believed in love.
That girl was gone now, replaced by a woman who was willing to do whatever it took to save her mother's life. Even if it meant sacrificing her own soul.
As Arianna made her way to the wedding ceremony, she felt like she was walking to her own funeral. The church was packed with guests, all of whom seemed to be staring at her with a mixture of curiosity and pity.
Arianna's father stood at the altar, his eyes filled with tears. He looked like he was about to collapse, and Arianna felt a pang of guilt for putting him through this.
As the music began to play, Arianna took a deep breath and started her walk down the aisle. She felt like she was in a trance, her feet moving automatically as she approached the altar.
Dickson Logan stood waiting for her, a smug smile spreading across his face. He looked like he had just won the lottery, and Arianna felt a surge of anger at the thought of being his prize.
As the ceremony began, Arianna felt like she was disconnecting from her body. She was going through the motions, saying the words, but it all felt so empty, so meaningless.
And then, just as the minister was about to pronounce them husband and wife, Arianna heard a commotion at the back of the church. She turned to see Lucas, her childhood friend, standing in the doorway, a look of horror on his face.
Arianna's heart skipped a beat as their eyes met. For a moment, she felt like she was back in time, back to when life was simple, back to when love was pure.
But the moment was fleeting. Dickson Logan's voice brought her back to reality, his words echoing in her mind like a curse.
"I do," he said, his voice dripping with satisfaction.
And with that, Arianna was trapped. She was married to a man she didn't love, a man who was only using her for his own gain.
As the minister pronounced them husband and wife, Arianna felt like she was dying inside. She was losing herself, losing her identity, losing her soul.
But she knew she had to keep going. For her mother's sake, she had to keep going.
As the ceremony came to a close, Arianna felt like she was walking into a nightmare. She was married to a monster, a man who would stop at nothing to get what he wanted.
And what he wanted was her.
Arianna shuddered at the thought, her heart racing with fear. She was trapped, trapped in a marriage that would destroy her, trapped in a world of luxury and deceit.
But she refused to give up. She would find a way out, no matter what it took. She would survive, no matter what.
