CHAPTER 43

It was like the time froze for a while and my breath draw unequal when I saw how the car opened and revealed Viel. I was staring back at his serious gaze while his forehead creased as it darted towards those two men in front of me as if it was not a good sight. Shawn and Simon also turned to look at him. I bit my lower lip while scanning Viel. His height was very far different from the two men in front of me. Well, don’t get me wrong… Viel is just way taller and--- Uhmm, hot… He looks dashing, hot, dangerous, handsome… always. You’re fantasizing about him, again. My inner thoughts whispered. He walked in our direction looking so good with only a simple white V-neck shirt layered with a black coat and pants. And of course, the cute top-knot will always be a sexy asset. “Karina.” He uttered my name using that cold yet soothing voice when he stopped right in front of me, which made Shawn and Simon step a little for a space. “Y-yes…” I stammered. “Hey, Cuz, I didn’t know you’d come.” Simon greeted, as he lightly tapped the shoulder of his cousin. “Yeah,” Viel answered languidly, he didn’t tear his eyes away from me. “Good evening, Engr.” Shawn greeted him. I slightly frowned and glanced at him. It doesn’t sound pleasant… or is it just me? Viel c****d his head to glance at him before he nodded and his eyes found me again. “Let’s go inside, Karina. It’s cold here.” He stated sternly and advanced a step. “Yeah, come on beautiful,” Simon smiled at me. I don’t know what got into him and why he came up to call me that. “Oh…here’s my coat, you must feel cold right now.” Simon continued and lifted his arms again while he was holding his coat. I caught Viel sighing impatiently, then he slid both hands into his pocket as he lazily glanced at his cousin. I bit my lower lip. Why did he look so adorable and grumpy? “She can use mine,” Shawn implied and, just like earlier, they are now both handling their coats. “Wear this, young lady,” Shawn says with determination. I was standing and was cornered by these 3 men here. I pursed my lips and looked at them confusingly. “I’m fine,” I answered. I’m okay though, I don’t need one. “Come on, Karina.” A baritone voice from Viel gave me chills. “O-okay…” I said and nodded before I turned my back on those two. I could feel the tension between them and I couldn’t understand that. After that, we started making our way back inside, and I now walking side to side with my most awaited guest. My lips curved slightly in my thought. We were halfway when I felt a soft coat around my shoulder. My heart beat rapidly because I knew exactly who the owner of this coat was and this unique manly smell. My system knows that well, and they recognized it so well. “Don’t take this off,” he commanded. I looked at him and he was now only in his white V-neck shirt and that didn’t even change the attractiveness he had. Shawn and Simon were behind our back and I know they could see what just Viel did. My cheek exaggeratedly heated up with his simple gesture. It might be just normal for him but It’s a big deal for me because it’s him. Brace yourself KC! I cleared my throat and acted normal. We were at the entrance and, just as expected, all the guests stopped for a while and stared at us, especially Viel. I tried to look for my parents but I couldn’t find them since the flash of the cameras was really a sting in the eye. And just like that, the murmurs began. I glance at where I left Crisha, her back was against me and she was busy chattering and giggling with Luna and Olivia at their table. But when Luna’s eyes went in our direction, her eyes widened and her mouth formed into an O, and the next thing she did, she tapped Olivia’s and Crisha’s arms and pointed in my direction. “My dad won’t be able to attend your birthday ‘cause he has an emergency meeting regarding” our business,” Viel stated and not minding the stares from those socialites who were already talking about him since it was so obvious ‘cause they kept on glancing at us while we walked towards the vacant table in front. I looked at him and nodded. It’s fine, as long as you’re here. My inner thoughts teased me, it’s true though. “It’s okay,” I answered softly. We stopped at a vacant table which was meant for them. Viel pulled the chair for me and made me sit. He was po-faced. He didn’t seem to care about the other guests here. A while ago some people greeted him and he just nodded, Well, it’s not new though. I smiled at Simon and Shawn when I asked them to take a seat, not to mention that they were also getting attention from girls… The dessert was immediately served on our table and wines for these three men, Viel was just so stiff and serious that he didn’t even bother to look around, unlike Simon who was lively responding to the girls waving in our direction, while Shawn was just letting out a sly smile. ‘’ I said don’t take that off,” Viel hissed. It’s because I tried to remove his coat that was on my shoulder. “I’m fine—” He cut me off. “Shut up.” He snaps at me. “By the way, I have something for you, Ms. Beautiful.” Simon suddenly interrupted us while smiling. He was staring at me as his brooding eyes glistened. I frowned. “Really?” I repeated. “Yes, and you’ll surely like it.” He responded, lively followed by a weak chuckle and picked something from the pocket of his coat. ‘’Here it is,” He proudly showed me a beautiful bracelet with gold leaves designed on it. I admit it was cute and obviously costly. “Woah, this is cute,” I said to him… I could feel Viel’s intense stare at me in my peripheral vision while he was playing with the glass of wine in his grasp. “Thanks,” I said and smiled at Simon. “Give me your hand, let’s put that on…” Simon said he wants me to wear it now. Viel’s expression turned dark and I don’t know why. “Ah---” “Oh my God! I’m sorry,” We all turned to look at the high-pitched voice from Shawn’s back. And there I saw Crisha, seemed like she bumped into Shawn's back and she’s with Olivia and Luna, who were now looking at Viel dreamily. “No worries, it’s okay” Shawn smiled when he said that, as he glanced at Crisha. Crisha is my best friend and I know exactly that she did that intentionally, ‘cause obviously their table was on the other side, so why the hell did the three of them suddenly appear here? This naughty girl and her stunts, I chuckled. I forgot that we’re somehow good when it comes to that. “Hi Crisha, come on join us, I didn’t see you a while ago. Where were you?” Simon immediately stood up and greeted her. “Oh, we’re on the other table, nice to see you here, “Crisha laughed awkwardly, and when she glanced at me her eyes squinted, then she glanced at Viel again, who was bored looking at everyone. “This is Olivia and Luna,” They introduced themselves and took a seat. Good thing it was seven-seaters. “KC,” Crisha laughed awkwardly when she sat on the left side together with Olivia and Luna. I knew what she wanted me to do. I shook my head and grinned. “Uhmm, Viel, these are my friends, Crisha, Olivia, and Luna,” I said and looked at him. He nodded before he spoke. “Good evening,” he simply said in a husk. I saw how Olivia pursed his lips, maybe because he thought he would offer a handshake. I smirked. That also happened to me when we first met. He doesn’t do a handshake! Frosty man!.. I simply looked at Viel and whispered while the others were busy talking. “Do you have a gift for me?” I asked hopefully. His differently colored eyes lazily bore on me. He nodded. “Y-you have?” I asked breathlessly. “Hmm,” He lazily nodded. “Really?! Where—” I happily asked, but he immediately sneered and cut me off. “Later, you brat.” He groaned huskily and glared at me. A broad smile formed on my lips, damn! He looks so adorably hot by just doing that.
