Gwen stood alone, away from everyone. Her mother had left her and was talking with other women. Even with the music and laughter, nothing could drown down the thoughts in her head.
Suddenly a voice said behind her.
" I think the main reason for balls is for interaction and dancing Princess."
She immediately knew who was talking. She was used to the scent even though it had only been a day. She turned around slowly and smiled at the face looking at her.
" I am not one that fancies balls and dancing. Amara is the right girl for that."
The Prince nodded and Gwen turned back to the crowd. She was suddenly angry but why?.
" Would you love to go somewhere less noisy?" he suggested. She was silent then he added "We could count the stars as we go."
This time she nodded.
They walked in the garden. The moon was shinning so bright that it didn't look like night. They walked in the garden for it was a big garden.
" This is a beautiful garden." Kaz said.
" It is indeed, the gardeners rally take care of it. Did you know there are ten people taking care of this place?" She asked him
" Wow, I didn't know"
" Of course you wouldn't, you don't stay here." she laughed." Amara and I usually come here to pick new flowers for our rooms. My mother always says that one of the good features of a good wife, is when she knows how to pick colourful flowers because then that would signify that she will know how to decorate her house well. I don't believe it is true though." She chuckled.
" That is definitely a good feature." he told her.
" I know but I don't agree that it must be a feature."
They walked in silence for a while
" I have heard so many stories about Gritia but they are all just stories and rumors. I have no way of telling which one is true or not. It would be right to hear from you before making me assumptions." She said
" What have you heard?"
" I heard that the kingdom is a magical kingdom and it's power comes from a flower, but I am not certain."
" I can only tell you things but you are the one to choose of you want to believe or not, and you still wouldn't know for sure. You would see it a yourself...... one day." he told her. Her heart skipped a beat as he said that.
" One day when you visit Gritia, you will see it."
"oh" she said disappointedly.
" Is there a problem princess?" He asked her.
" No not at all" she said putting on a fake smile. " It is getting rather cold. It would be best we go inside, mother might be looking for me now."
" Of course" they walked back to the palace.
As Gwen lay in bed that night, she kept thinking about what the princes had said. You will see it all yourself. These words left her thinking about what he meant. Now that she knows why the prince is here, she couldn't help but think about the end result.
On one hand, she's thinks about the last two times she had spent with him. The way it felt, so real; but then she realized that he night just be friendly towards her because marrying her would gain him no profit.
Amara was the heir to the throne and she was just the adopted child of the King and Queen. She had no right to be the throne and she didn't think she would inherit anything at all.
Amara was more beautiful and fit to be a queen. She on the other hand was not no matter all the training she was getting.
All these reasons kept floating I to her mind, singing in her head like a lullaby that was about to put her to sleep. She drifted away into sleep as the lullaby in her head continued.

Gwen stood in the garden picking flowers. " The flowers in your room are withered already?" She turned and saw her mother.
" Yes mother"
" Do you not put them in water?"
" I do but it still withers quickly. I think the sunlight is not enough for them. I would have to consider changing where it is been kept."
" Yes it think that is a better option."
Gwen walked around still picking flowers, her mother walked slowly behind her.
" Gwendolyn." Her mother called her.
She knew what her mother was about to say was important because she always called her by her full name when it is something serious.
" You haven't spoken to the prince at all why?" She said to her.
" That is not true. I spoke to him twice and I have met him a few times during the balls." She said to her mother while picking
" It has been a week and the prince leaves tomorrow."
Gwen paused what she was doing, knowing what here mother meant. The prince chooses a wife today.
She knew that, it was the main reason she was in the garden, she just wanted to think. She couldn't understand why she was bothered about the prince choosing Amara. She loved her sister and wants the best for her.
" Yes. There is no need to worry about me, we all know who is going to choose."
" Why would you say that? You wouldn't know if he likes her or not." Her mother asked surprised.
"It's not about liking mother. It is about what there is to gain. You said it yourself, they are planning to open trade route between both kingdoms and what other way to do it than a married."
Her mother was about to speak but she interrupted her " I still have a lot of flowers to pick mother and I have to get ready for tonight, so I better get going now." She said leaving the queen there short of words.
