CHAPTER 18

Maxine woke up after a few hours,she looked around the room only to find herself in the hospital.She had been so immersed in the conversation between her and Pin that she didn't even realize the outside movements.

"Oh, you're awake?"The nurse checked the IV drip and then checked her eyes,"it's good that you're okay,but now that you are awake we will need to do a check up to see if every part of your body is intact,"she smiled immediately after saying that.Maybe she was trying to make a joke or whatever she was trying to say but it didn't get to Maxine's ears.

"How is my friend?"

"Your friend is still in the operation room,they've already removed the glass pieces,I guess they are on the final part now,"she answered while writing some notes inside in a pad.

Maxine took out the needle that was at the back of her hand and stood up,"I need to see her,"

"Miss, you can go and see her after the IV drip is almost done,"

"I am fine,I don't need the drip,"besides,the drip did not help at all,she has a body that can internally heal itself, and also, her blood is different from the others, if known,it might cause a problem.

"Miss...,"

"Nurse,don't worry,I know my body perfectly and I am fine!"She was becoming agitated and the nurse noticed it."Where are my clothes?"After the nurse tried to convince her but to no avail,she gave up.

After dressing up,she got out of the ward and went straight to the operation room where Jessy was in.The nurse had told her the location of the room,When she got there,she saw the room being opened and a body being pushed to the intensive care unit.

"Doctor how is she?"

"You are the relative?"The doctor asked.

"Yes,so how is she?"she replied

The doctor could sense the impatience in her voice and decided to go straight to the point,"so far,so good.However,we need to monitor her for any complications post anaesthesia, but it's most likely she might end up in a coma."

"Can I go in?"

"You can,but you will have to dress up before that,"after the doctor said that,he left.

After she had put on protective clothes,she got in and saw Jessy sleeping there silently,she remembered what Pin had told her,"that accident is not a normal one.I felt a different kind of energy coming from those people,"Pin had said,"a very dangerous power."Those words kept ringing in her mind,"the moment you were reborn,there was a mysterious occurence,but a normal person couldn't see it."

She slowly caressed Jessy's face,giving a silent vow,"Jessy you have become like this because of me, I will make sure you will wake up from the coma,all you have to do, is be patient for now."The rest, she vowed to herself as she walked out of the room.She went down to the reception and checked out after paying for everything.She had not yet informed Bernard of his niece' accident.

After she arrived at the villa, she took out one of her phones and made an international call,"hello?"came a male voice from the other side.

She paused for a while and then said,"how is it going?"

"We have progressed very well,our foundations have become stronger in Asia and Europe,but it's not getting better in Canada.My subordinates said,there are some people who are trying to subotage us,"the man said.

"Leave Canada to me,right now you need to come back,leave somebody trustworthy to take charge there,"said Maxine.Building connections in Asia and Europe was the most important, Canada can be done slowly,plus we already have connections in Africa and Russia due to the diamonds,she thought to herself.

"Is something wrong?"The man asked.

"Jessy is in a coma Jace,"she paused for a moment,closed her eyes and slowed,it was as if she was swallowing all her emotions,"we were in an accident,and Jessy got badly injured."Jace and Jessy have known each other for a long time,they were schoolmates and neighbors and once Jessy had sworn her allegience,Jace also followed.She had taken the both of them to training and tested them and once they passed,she sent Jace away because he was much tactiful and stronger.

After a moment of silence,"I understand,"was all Jace managed to say.

"Rest up, then take the next flight."After that she hung up the call, then made another call,"Uncle,how did it go?"

"It went well,after we did the adjustment,we followed your instructions and waited for them to announce the new perfume.Because we had enough evidence,we reported them of plagiarism,now all the companies that have been oppressed by them are coming out with new evidences and their stocks are dropping.they have a lot of crimes and their CEO is on the run."Bernard kept blabbering,one could sence the joy in his voice."Your idea was very great,after anouncing the release of the new perfume and the date it will be in the market, the company has been getting a lot of orders,especially with the diamond bracelet as an offer.We are getting busier,the design for the bottle is also being settled by the design team since the other design has already been known to everyone."

"What about the culprit?"

"The culprit was Daniel,although his roommate had new stuff,we followed up the clues and went to the stores to check the cameras.It was all Daniel,"he concluded.

"That's great,"she paused,"we will buy the stocks of that company and take over."

"We are already at it,and we are the ones leading."

"That's great news,Uncle..."

"What's wrong Max?You don't sound happy."He asked.

"Uncle Bernard,Jessy is in a coma,"after a while,she continued,"well the doctor said she might likely end up in a coma because of the impact of the accident..."

"You were in an accident?When,how...Where?"

Hearing the urgency in that voice, Maxine broke down,"Uncle,it's all because of me,"she said between sobs,"Pin said she felt the energy coming from the other side.They were targetting me,uncle!"She had tried to hold back her emotions from the moment she woke up at the hospital,maybe she wasn't as strong as she thought,"Uncle, I am so useless,I should have learned the art of healing better, now she is lying there in a coma,yet I can't do anything."

"Come down Max, there are somethings that we can't change no matter what.In this life,if something was meant to happen,then it will surely happen,no matter what."He paused,"now what we have to do is be there for her,"

"Uncle,you can't go there,I will hire a private nurse to take care of her,"They both knew what will happen,if she was the target,then everyone around her will also become a target."Uncle,we have to watch our movements,these people aren't just normal people,right now,you can't call me,I will be the one to call you."she touched the ring on her finger,"I will have to cover my scent and the ring's aura."

"Are you sure you will be fine?"

"I will,and I will be sending pictures of Jessy's progress to you through private mail.The two nurses I will hire will also be physically trained.Please tell this to Aunt Sophia."
