Chapter Two

After I had been dragged back to the mansion by Jasper, I"d been dumped into the same room I"d slept in the previous night. I heard the lock turn which meant that he had locked the room from the outside. I banged the doors for them to open, but no one listened. I"d seen a few maids at the staircase staring at me as I was being forced upstairs, but they hadn"t seemed fazed by my screaming or yelling as if it was all normal. I"d tried to open the windows, but it was barricaded from the outside. Who was I? Rapunzel? When I realized that nothing was going to work, I gave up and drifted into a peaceful slumber. I woke up with the sun going down. How long had I slept? My throat felt like I had swallowed a dozen of cactus. I grabbed for the jug of water by the bed side table and chugged half of it"s contents. I was still wearing the silk gown which was once glimmering, now it seemed to have been stained with mud and even torn in some parts. What was going on? I wanted to get out of here. I remembered how I assumed Jasper Lockhart to be a nice man for offering to help me and give me a roof for one night, but I"d been dead wrong. There was something hidden in those jaded blue eyes that I"d failed to notice. Behind that charming exterior was a man far dangerous than I had ever dreamed of. My wrist still had red angry marks from when he had grabbed me. I heard the door unlock after what felt like hours and Jasper sauntered inside the room. "Did you sleep well?" he asked, holding a tray with filled with food. I didn"t answer. He placed the tray on the bedside table and settled on the edge of the bed. "I asked you a question, and I expect an answer. Did you sleep well?" "Yes." "Good." He gave me a satisfied smile. "You skipped lunch so I thought you may be hungry." I stared straight at him. "I want out from here." He suddenly stood up and threw open the wardrobe. "Aren"t the clothes to your liking? Maybe you can tell Margret the type of dresses you like and she can help you choose." "I said I want to leave this place." "Baby, you are not going anywhere. This is your home." Jasper said like it was the most obvious thing, and I was stupid to even ask such a question. "Why are you doing this to me? What do you want from me?" "I want you to stay here with me." He said. "Do you understand that forcing me to live with you against my will is a crime?" "I do know that murdering a parent and fleeing from the scene is also going against the law." He retrieved his iPhone from his denim pocket. "You can walk away from here, I"ll even have the guard open the gates and then I"ll call the deputy myself and inform him that a woman forced herself into my home and took shelter without my permission and is likely to endanger my life." I gritted my teeth. He was blackmailing me. "You are f*****g crazy." He chuckled almost teasingly. "I"ve heard worse." "Is that why you brought me here? Because I asked you to help me?" Jasper took slow strides in the room, his lips curled in a sly smile. "You owe me. I saved your life." "This was your plan all along. To help me and than blackmail me into staying here." "They say never trust strangers, especially the smooth talkers, but I guess it"s too late for that." Jasper closed the distance between us and trailed his thumb across my cheek. I flinched. He whispered slowly in my ear. "This world consists of monsters, Kiara, people are not as nice as you think. A person sees a beautiful damsel in distress in need of a knight in a shinning armor and every resolve shatters and there"s an urge to possess that beautiful woman and keep her all to themselves." I went still as he kissed the side of my cheek and I felt his tongue drag a trail. "You"re so beautiful." He rained kisses all over my face, avoiding my lips and then his tongue grazed my collar bone. "Please." I whispered. "Do you like it when I kiss you here?" he asked in the huskiest, most sexy voice. In other situations, it would have sounded seductive, but all I felt was disgust. I couldn"t take it any longer as I punched him square in his face, kicked him as I stood up and leaped for the door. Luckily the knob gave in, I made a mad dash outside and took fast strides down the staircase breaking a vase in the process. Jasper followed slowly behind me, I just knew somewhere deep down that this was going to end badly, but I didn"t dare peek a glance. I made it as far as the passageway and made a turn when my body collided against a hard chest. Jasper pinned me with his hard stare, blood smeared his nose where I had punched him, and the darkness in his hooded eyes was back. He stared at me with the same calm expression, it was abnormal for someone to seem so collected when they were probably boiling with anger. He struck me hard once. Twice, and the third one was with such an impact that I went barreling on the floor. I felt dizzy and my head spun. Where were the maids? Weren"t they going to stop him from abusing a woman? Suddenly, Margret summoned out of a room, worry written over her face. Her face changed to that of anger. At least Margret knew what this monster was up to, she would help me, wouldn"t she? "What did you do to Young Master?!" Margret shrieked loudly, like I wasn"t just slapped thrice. "HOW DARE YOU HURT HIM?" Margret was ready to strike me, but Jasper stopped her. "Margret, just let it go. Kiara knows it"s her mistake, don"t you, love?" I remained tape lipped. "He treated you like a princess, clothed you, fed you good food and all he asked in return was for you to stay by his side and this is how you repay his kindness." That was Margret. "Please just leave me alone." I begged. My cheek began to sting from the pain caused by his slaps. "I want you to recall whatever you have done since morning and how you can avoid misbehavior in the coming future because I really hate messing up your pretty face." I was kneeling on the floor. When one looses a fight, the next thing they can do is beg. "Please, Jasper. Let me go." "Go where, darling? Prison?" He passed me a grin. "Because that"s where you will be going if you ever escape from here. You will be charged for murder, fleeing and taking cover in the Lockhart mansion by playing the poor woman needing help and assaulting the owner of the house when he tried to turn you in because he found out who you actually were. That"s going to probably get you a life imprisonment. If not, I"ll make sure if it." I sobbed knowing full well that no one was coming to save me, my mother wouldn"t even know I was here. I couldn"t even get in touch with the police because I had murdered my father. I cried harder. I had to make a choice, I could either rot in prison or stay with the crazy bastard in his castle of a house. With Jasper, I still had chances of escaping. If I wanted to get out of here, I needed to hatch a plan even if that meant living with the abusive asshole and doing exactly as I was told. I needed to be stronger. I wiped my tears as I climbed to my feet. "Well, do you have anything to say?" Jasper asked me calmly. I hope you burn in hell. Instead, I said. "I"m sorry for all the trouble I have caused you..." "And?" "And I"ve realized that you"re right. Without you, I would probably be in prison. I think it"s best for me to stay here with you." With that his lips cracked into a smile as he closed the distance between us and wrapped his arms around me. "That"s my girl." He smelled of the strong male cologne that would drive any woman crazy, I hated to admit it but the smell was intoxicating, it also made me sick in the stomach. "I know it"s not going to be easy, but you will learn. Slowly but surely, you"ll know that you belong here with me. If you obey me, I will treat you like a queen, the way you deserve. If you disobey, well, lets just say it will get a lot uglier than what you can imagine." I shuddered with the thought of him losing his cool. If he had just b***h slapped me for punching him in the face and if that"s what he called a normal behavior, I didn"t want to know what he was capable of doing if I got on his nerves. Jasper brushed the hair away from my face and inspected me. "Your hair looks kind of dull, don"t you think?" "No...I..I...think I"m fine." I stuttered. "Margret!" he called out to the maid who silently witnessed the scene from the sidelines. "Yes, Young Master?" Margret rushed to Jasper"s side like a loyal puppy waiting for it"s Master to throw her a treat. "Don"t you think her hair is a bit too shabby?" Jasper asked her, completely disregarding that it was my hair that they were talking about. "Yes, Master, I think some change will do the trick." Margret agreed, smiling at me like she hadn"t just screamed in my face and tried to hit me. Were all the people in this house bat-s**t crazy? "Call Rose and book an appointment tomorrow at 10 a.m." "Am I to take Miss Kiara to the saloon?" I hoped he would say yes, it would be easier for me to make my escape then. Jasper stared at me like he knew what I was thinking, like he had a power of telepathy. The contours of his mouth twitched up. "Have her come home. Can"t afford to let Kiara get out of the house. We don"t need the police knowing she is here. That would cause so much trouble and frankly, I don"t have time to get tangled in that mess." "Yes, sir." Jasper kissed the side of my cheek, like he hadn"t just hurt that same cheek a few minutes ago. "You look tired, why don"t you go shower and meet me for supper at eight." "Okay." I said. "Wear something nice." I just nodded as I made my way upstairs to my new prison. I had to wait for an opportunity until I could make my escape, until then I decided that I would play by his rules.
