Chapter 12: Sherry

"So which one do you want Raider?" I asked after we toured both houses, they grey had a more modern vibe, like mine but with more white and a lot less black. The brick house had an air of wild to it, it looked like the kind of place you would fine a deer head mounted on the wall. All the floors were hardwood, seeing as carpet stained easily, yet in each house I made sure the stairs had a rug. 

"I'll take the brick house." Raider said sighing at the house. Just then Logan pulled up in the SUV and we all unloaded Raider's boxes and set them in his living room. His walls were made of golden oak wood giving it a rustic vibe, the brown leather sofa added to the aesthetic. Once everything was in the house I sent Logan home and helped Raider begin unpacking. After we finished his room which was a large master bedroom like mine with a walk-in closet and master bath, I sat on his bed and looked around. 

"I think we should get some sleep Ray, we have the meeting with Sherry at 10." He nodded and sighed before flopping on the right side of his bed. 

"Tomorrow I get to see your house." He said yawning. 

"Yep, oh and don't tell Tommy, the house is a surprise for him." I said with a wink. He chuckled and I walked from his room on the first floor and went to my house, I had parked my car in the garage and showed Raider the houses instantly. I walked up to my room and pulled off my clothes setting them on the tuxedo sofa at the foot of my bed and went to the closet and pulled on Thomas's grey hoodie before climbing under our black comforter with a white wolf on it. I tossed and turned all night, the blanket was too light compared to the weight of Thomas's arms. I finally rolled out of bed at around 4 am and put the sweater back in the closet, I took off my underwear and slipped on a black robe and walked down and out the french doors in the kitchen before stretching and setting the robe on one of the deck chairs before shifting and letting Nyx run the territory marking trees and sniffing for rouges. We caught the scent of one and we ran after it, we caught up to it and tackled it to the ground, it whimpered when I growled at. 

I shifted and looked down at the frightened thing. "Shift." It shifted into a young woman with brown hair and round innocent looking blue eyes. "What is your name and why are you in my territory?"

"My name is Regina, the pack to the north invaded the town I was living in and told me to scram. I just wanted to find a new place to live." She whimpered.

"The wolves were led by who?" I asked her. 

"Luna Sherry." She said timidly.

"Shift back, I'll escort you across the territory."

"Thank you." She said before shifting back into her chocolate colored wolf, I shifted back and as promised escorted her through the territory. Once she was over the boarder I ran back home and shifted, put on my robe, and walked into the kitchen shutting the doors. I made myself a bowl of cereal and ate it quickly before putting the bowl in the left side of the sink and going up to my bathroom. I took a quick shower and dried off even faster. I brushed my teeth and then my hair, I pulled it into a high pony tail before going to my room and putting on the bra from yesterday. I went to the closet and pulled out a pair of cheeky black panties, then I slid a straight black skirt and plum button-up blouse. I left the top three buttons undone and pulled on my bullet necklace. I put on a bit of eye liner and mascara before grabbing a pair of 1 in and a half pumps and carried them down to the living room. 

I ran back up to my room and grabbed my charging phone and brought it to the living room, as I got to the bottom of the stairs there was a knock on the door. I opened it to see Raider standing on my front step in a black t-shirt and tight blue jeans. 

"Don't you look sharp." He said clapping his hands and walking in. "Ooo this is nice." He said walking into the living room. 

"Go ahead and explore while I make myself some coffee. " He nodded and wandered off while I went to the kitchen and made myself hazelnut coffee in my keurig. I added five scoops of sugar and coconut creamer and drank the hot liquid. I burnt my tongue but kept chugging because I was gonna need another cup. When the second cup was done being made Raider walked into my kitchen with his arms crossed, he looked extremely annoyed. 

"You have a hot tub. I don't have a hot tub." He growled. 

"Did you look on your back deck?" I asked. "Every house should have one seeing as the developers didn't know which house I was going to be choosing when they were building." He narrowed his eyes and turned I heard the front door open and shut softly. I sighed and sat at the island, I wanted waffles with strawberries and whipped cream. I ran my hands through my hair and held the tears back by clenching my jaw and taking a few deep breaths. "C'mon Maya, you can do this." I said trying to work myself up. "Yeah you got this, now lets go make Tommy proud!" I growled before downing my second cup of coffee and bringing my mug to the sink. I sighed and washed my three dishes before taking the sponge and cleaning in front of the coffee maker. I walked to the living room and slid on my pumps and grabbed my phone before leaving the house and walking out to the SUV the council had sent. Raider jogged over smiling and slid in behind me. 

"Ye' were right. T'was on the back deck." He said happily. 

"Knew it." I said with a sigh. 

"Good morning Maya." Samuel said. 

"Morning councilman." I said emotionlessly.

"Maya." He said warningly. 

"I apologize, sleep evaded me last night when that happens I become irritable and hostile." I said looking out the window. 

"I understand this is difficult for you, but this needed to be done." He said tensely.

"I understand that, though I wont pretend to understand why I couldn't go back to Scotland until Tommy is ready to come back with me. Just because we can't feel the sparks or the full pull of the mate bond doesn't mean this is easier than it is for fully mated pairs."

"We can't send you back just in case Sherry goes back on her word, we'll need a strong wolf here to protect your pack." He said.

"Hmmp." Was the only response I could come up with. I leaned back in my seat and closed my eyes and tried to sleep. It didn't work.

"Did ye' have a nice nap?" Raider asked smirking, I shook my head and yawned. He looked guilty for a moment before taking my arm. "Then let's get this o'er with and we can go home and sleep it off." I nodded and we walked into the large yellow farmhouse that was her pack house, we were led to a small meeting room by her Beta Davis. 

"Maya Kilter, you look like Penn." Luna Sherry said without respect, pissing Nyx and I off. I was taller than her 5 ft 6 frame, she had copper curls with grey strands in it. She had fake tanned skin and overbearingly pink nails and lips. She was wearing a bright pink pan suit that did her body no favors. She had long ass legs, but her torso looked squished, her neck was practically non exsistant and boobs looked like they wanted to drag on the floor. 

"Luna." I said confusing her with my cold tone. "It's Luna Maya, unless you want me to call you Sherry." I said, her ugly brown eyes went wide and she nodded once before gesturing us to al sit. 

"I was told you weren't 18 yet, a wolf can't be Luna until they are 18." Sherry said snidely. 

"And yet you insisted I be here." I said freezing the room with my tone. "I was preparing to be Luna and you insisted that I had to be here and interrupted my training, I suggest we get this meeting started." She looked angered but nodded in agreement. 

"Let's." She said. 

"Luna Sherry you have been taking land in no mans land and sending rouges into other territories." Zenon said. "You know it is against the law to take that land."

"My pack is growing and I need room, I am aware of that law, but what am I supposed to tell the first time shifters when they have no real mountains and woods to run around?" She said pouting. 

"If you need woods and mountains why are you kicking rouges out of their homes in the middle of a town?" I asked raising my eyebrow and crossing my arms over my chest. 

"I am unaware of what you're talking about." She said trying to cover the surprise in her eyes, I watched as her eyes shifted slightly and her irises expanded, she was lying. 

"I was on a run this morning when I found a rouge in my territory, I had this wolf shift and it told me it was living in town when your wolves kicked them out as you claimed the land." I said calmly, she began to sweat as the council looked from me to her. 

"What do you have to say for yourself Luna Sherry?" Councilwoman Maria asked. 

"That rouge must have been lying, either that or Maya is." I growled letting my eyes go black. 

"It is LUNA Maya." Sherry and her beta shrunk back. "Speak Beta!" I growled. 

"We have been taking territory not for our pack but because we need money, Luna Sherry has committed many crimes and blamed it all on rouges getting them killed." Davis spilled before slapping his hands over his mouth. Sherry went pale as Samuel stood and looked at her. 

"Luna Sherry Reynolds, you have been deceiving us for too long, because of you this pack has been run into the dirt. You should have come to us about your money issues and we could have aided you, instead you have committed heinous crimes and endangered the lives of the packs around you." Samuel said. 

"Sherry, your punishment will be life imprisonment, you will be locked up in the cells with the other hard criminals. This pack is to be dispersed and the land is to become open for a new pack to come in, the money that was stolen is to be discretely returned to where it came from." Zenon growled. 

"No! This is not how today is supposed to go!" She screamed as she jumped up. "That b***h was supposed to be baited into marrying my son and combining the packs." I snarled and stood slowly planting my hands on the table and leaning on the table. 

"I would never marry a wolf who isn't my mate." Sherry shrunk away again and fell back into her chair. "Let alone any wolf related to you." I straightened out and smooth my clothes before looking at Raider who was now standing beside me, he looked astonished. "I believe it's time you and I got back to our own pack." I bowed at the council members before turning on my heel and leaving the small yellow farmhouse. 

"Luna Maya." Came Samuel's voice from behind me. 

"Councilman Samuel. How can I be of service?" I asked knowing I had to formal while others could be listening. 

"I'm impressed with the way you handled yourself in there, Thomas is lucky to have you." I smiled warmly at him. 

"Thank you, that is very kind of you to say." I covered a yawn before speaking again. "Excuse us please." I said with a bow. Raider and I climbed into one of the Black SUVs and got driven back to my house. I tiredly went straight to my room and took off my clothes shoving them in an empty basket and putting my shoes away before grabbing my towel and heading to the bathroom, I sighed as I climbed into a nice hot bath with jasmine scented bubbles. I put my phone in a waterproof case made for river trips and put on some Frank Sinatra. In the middle of Come fly with me, my phone began beeping. I saw Thomas's face on facetime and answered. He looked as tired as I felt.

"You look exhausted Tommy." I said taking my finger and tracing his face, I could tell he was laying in bed. 

"I can't sleep." He said yawning. 

"I know what you mean, even all wrapped in your blanket, I missed the weight of your arms." I said sighing. 

"Where are you baby?" He asked with another yawn. 

"Taking a bath, the meeting was tense and I needed to relax." I said as he he smirked and licked his lips.

"I called at the right time. How about we have virtual sexy time and then you tell me all about your tense meeting." He cooed. I giggled as I felt my core weep at his husky tone.

"Grab some lotion Alpha, this might take a while."
