Kaitlin’s POV
I slammed my fists repeatedly on the barrier, keeping me back. I couldn’t even get closer to the edge, since the air got dangerously thin and I couldn’t breathe. I shifted back into my human form, screaming at my mate, “BENJAMIN PLEASE!” But the sound of their snarls drowned out my voice.
He promised me he wouldn’t do it! I couldn’t tear my eyes away from them and I reached down deep into my well of power, looking for something that could help me escape this trap. A yelp sounded as a whip of Oleander struck Fenris across the back and I screamed in pain for my mate. How he was losing to a wolf, I didn’t understand and the panic rose higher in me.
Tears were freely falling from my face as the blood poured from the lash mark and the green poison oozed through it.
